Contemplating Mind In Mind. The mind we are talking about is the King Mind, a part of the mind. According to the Buddha's teaching, the mind has two parts, the mind king and the mental factor. The "mind king" perceives the object, it is just a mere perception. "Mind" has dyed the mind king. The cetasikas arise at the same time as the citta and alter the citta. Greed is a mental factor. The yard is a center. Si is a mental factor. Faith is a mental facility. Hue is a mental facility. When cetasikas arise they co-arrise with some kind of citta-kingdom. Although the citta king is emphasized in this chapter, it is not possible to separate the citta and cetasika. When you observe the citta king, you are contemplating the mental factor at the same time. When your mind has anger, you note: "angry, angry," then you have observed this mind king. "Angry" it means your mind is angry or I have the king of mind that comes with anger. So when you note: "angry, angry," you have been practicing contemplation of the mind king. The other mind kings need to be noted as well. In the Satipatthana Sutra, there are many types of mind kings that are associated with greed, are not accompanied by greed, are associated with anger, are not associated with hatred, are associated with delusion, are not associated with delusion. -- "Mind shrinkage" is a type of mind that occurs when you are overwhelmed by sleepiness. While meditating, if you fall asleep, your mind will shrink. -- "Distracted mind" refers to a type of mind that is dominated by restlessness. "The mind becomes big" or "the mind becomes big" means "meditation mind". "Mind that does not become large" or "mind that does not become great" are cittas related to the sense world. -- "Mind is overpowered" is the mind king of the sex and form worlds. "Mind that is unsurpassed" is the mind of the formless world. -- "Concentration" is access concentration or concentration. The "mind that is not concentrated" is the mind that is scattered and unfocused. -- "Freedom of mind" is the mind that is free from defilements for a moment or for a short period of time; that is insight mind or meditation mind. "The mind is not freed" is the mind that is not free from defilements. To understand all kinds of mind kings, you need to know the Abhidhamma. However, it is not necessary to know all the types of cittas by their proper names, whenever a citta arises you just need to make a note of it, for example when you are sleepy you should be aware that you are sleepy and noted that: "drowsy, sleepy, sleepy". When you release the mind, you note: "distracted, freed, distracted". It is necessary to promptly note these types of consciousness each time they arise in your mind. While contemplating the mind, one mind is the object of another. Two cittas cannot arise at the same time. The "meditation-object-mind" arises a very short time earlier than the "noting mind", but you can call it being present because there is only a very short period of time when you observe the mind. When various types of citta arise and disappear, you should immediately notice these separate cittas each time they are present in you. When you kill the mind in this way, you will see that there is only the mind, there is no person or being to control or act as an agent. You will also realize that because they arise and pass away every moment, they are impermanent. Once you have seen them as impermanent, you no longer cling or cling to them due to your craving or wrong view. That means you no longer have cravings and wrong views to cling to them. When there is no craving, kamma cannot form and you can be liberated from all suffering. This is the end of the contemplation of the mind.
