The Buddha's teachings in the Nikayas. Volume I I. TRUST 1- BENEFITS OF TRUST. Once the Blessed One was in Vesali, addressing the bhikkhus: "Monks, there are these five benefits for a good man of faith. What is the year? The Good People, the True People, first of all have compassion for those who have faith, not so for those who do not believe. When visiting, they first visit those who have faith, not so for those who do not. When accepting real life, they accept first of all those who have faith, not so for those who do not. They preach the Dharma first to those who have faith, not to those who do not. Those who have faith, after the breakup of the body, after death, are reborn in a good and heavenly realm. These dhammas, bhikkhus, are five benefits for a good man of faith. Like, Monks, on a good plot of land, at the crossroads, there is a great eagle tree, a refuge for birds. Likewise, bhikkhus, good men with faith are a refuge for the masses, for bhikkhus, for bhikkhunis, for lay men and women. DISCLAIMER: Faith, according to Buddhism, must be righteous faith, pure faith, faith after it has been verified by wisdom. Beliefs that are superficial, vague, and permissive and ignorant of them are superstitions. Therefore, once you have believed, you must understand and understand to strengthen and increase your faith, which is indispensable for the true faith of Buddhism. First of all, Buddhists must establish pure faith in the Three Jewels. Because only the light of the Three Jewels is capable of dispelling the darkness of ignorance, extinguishing craving, and ending suffering. The pinnacle of faith is faith, absolute trust in the pure mind, the self-nature of enlightenment is eternal in oneself. Since then, the effort to practice reveals the clear mind and penetrates the truth. When he has faith, the layman gains five benefits. That is: being loved by the Zen deities, visiting them, going to their homes to receive food, preaching the Dharma, and being reborn in heaven when the body breaks up after death. In particular, it is pure faith that is "a refuge for the masses, for bhikkhus and bhikkhunis, for male laypeople and for female laypeople". Faith is the mother of all merit, the basis for the arising of all kusala. Therefore, if you do not have faith, you must establish it. When you have generated pure faith, then strengthen and cultivate it to make it more solid. Right faith and pure faith in the Three Jewels is one of the important issues that every Buddhist child must achieve as a basis for learning, self-benefit and others. In the midst of a crisis of trust, skeptical of moral values, following pragmatism as today, then more than ever, Buddhists must deeply believe in the Buddha's teachings to live a life of goodness, altruism, happiness and liberation, and at the same time contribute to preserving, preserve the moral standards, traditional culture of the nation. 2- Manifestations of Faith Once the Blessed One was staying at Gomagga, in the forest of Simsapà, teaching the monks: Due to these three facts, monks, a person is known to have faith. What is three? Prefer to see virtuous people; love to listen to magic; with a mind of defilement and aversion, living in the house, giving generously with clean hands, delighting in renunciation, ready when asked, fond of distributing alms. Due to these three facts, bhikkhus, a person is known to have faith. DISCLAIMER: Faith and faith in the Three Jewels are important factors to be accomplished as a basis for practice. good direction. Beliefs are inherent in the heart with different broad and narrow dimensions and depth. Therefore, based on the manifestations of practice in daily life, each person can check his own beliefs or can evaluate the beliefs of others. First of all, a specific expression of trust is respecting and practicing ethical standards and values. When a person admires, praises and respects a virtuous person, it shows that he or she is aiming for good, wishing to be friends with good, fearing evil, deeply believing in cause and effect. The closeness, respect for the true cultivators, always interested in the issue of "good people, good deeds" in society to study and imitate are expressions of people who have faith. The belief of the Buddha's children, according to the wisdom of the Blessed One, always goes hand in hand with understanding. If you want to believe deeply and firmly, you must understand the Dharma. Open your eyes to see clearly and then believe is right faith, pure faith. Therefore, interested in studying the scriptures, passionately studying the Dharma in order to better understand the Buddha's teachings and apply them to life for benefits and happiness is the second expression of faith. When you have understood the wonderful dharma, seeing the fragility of human life, you should vow not to hold on to, cling to, and relinquish in life. Giving, giving, letting go, letting go... all joyfully, naturally because it is clear that there is nothing worthy of holding. To live is to give, to serve is the noble and holy wisdom of pure souls. Only those who have achieved unwavering faith in the Three Jewels can do this complete giving. It turns out, faith is in the heart, but it is also easy to see through the expressions and behaviors in life. And more importantly, the achievement of faith is also the achievement of insight. That is why, the Avatamsaka Sutra says: "Faith is the mother of all virtues." L 3- TRUST Once the Blessed One was traveling among the Kosala people, in the town of the Kālās, in Kesaputta. Then the Kālāmas went to pay homage, sat down to one side, and said to the Blessed One: A number of recluses, brahmins, and venerable sirs, went to Kesaputta. They clarify and brighten their own views, but they reject, scorn, denigrate, and distort the views of others. We have doubts and doubts among these people, who is telling the truth, who is not telling the truth? Don't be quick to believe because of a legend, don't be quick to believe because of tradition, don't be quick to believe because you've been handed down by the scriptures, don't be quick to believe because of metaphysical reasoning, don't be quick to believe because of a position, don't hastily believes because it conforms to preconceptions, Don't be quick to believe because you come from a place of authority, and don't be quick to believe because the recluse who utters these words is your teacher. Hey, Kālā, when you know for yourself as follows: These dharmas are unwholesome, sinful; these dharmas are criticized by the wise; These dhammas, if accepted and implemented, lead to unhappiness and suffering, then, Kālā, abandon them. This Kālā, when you know for yourself as follows: These dharmas are good, there is no sin; these dharmas are praised by the wise; These dharmas, if accepted and implemented, lead to happiness and peace, then, Kālā, attain and abide. DISCLAIMER: Human habit is that whatever belongs to us, in relation to us, always prevails. The shadow of the self always covers and obscures, obstructs the penetration of truth and is the source of all suffering. Therefore, Trying to clarify one's point of view and stance in order to promote one's self and one's self is an inherent normality of the world. However, along with defending one's views is the act of condemning, rejecting and scorning the views of others, especially progressive ones, which is a bad thing; clear manifestation of self-grasping, fanaticism and ignorance. According to the wisdom of the World-Honored One, all views and thoughts should be cautious, not hastily believed, should be skeptical, and should be reviewed. Although doubt is one of the defilements that obstruct the holy path, in perception, doubt is an expression of wisdom because "great doubt means great enlightenment". Only after skepticism comes to a firm belief is the path of righteous faith and pure faith of the Buddha's children. If it is not doubted, not reviewed, only believed with eyes closed, then that belief is just superstition. very stupid and dark. In his opinion, the World-Honored One has never judged and forced everyone to bow their heads to believe, and always allow and encourage disciples to discuss and discuss his teachings. Disciples' faith in the Dharma is achieved through contemplation, reflection, and contemplation. Especially when it is clear that it is good, there is no sin, the practice brings happiness and joy, and especially on the level of being accepted by wise people, believe, attain and abide. , if not, then definitely give up. Faith must go hand in hand with wisdom to be righteous. So Buddhists are not in a hurry to believe in anything, they only believe after practicing and that brings happiness and happiness to themselves and others, in the present and in the future. L 4- FAITH IS ASSETS Supreme One time the Blessed One was staying at Álavi, at the residence of the Yaksha Alavakka. Then Yaksha went and said to the Blessed One: Monk, I will ask you a question. If you can't answer me, I'll make your mind crazy, or I'll break your heart, or grab your leg, and I'll throw you to the other side of the Ganges. Friend, I don't see a single person in the gods, demons, Brahmas, or with them ascetics, brahmins, and humans who can make my mind crazy, or break my heart, or grab me by the foot and throw me over the other side of the Ganges. However, sage, ask, if you wish. Monk: "What is the supreme wealth for a person? What is good practice, bringing true peace? What is between the tastes, the ultimate sweetness? How to live, called the ultimate life?". This sage: "Trust in people, is the ultimate wealth. The Dharma is skillfully practiced, bringing true peace. Truth among you, is the ultimate sweetness. Having to live with wisdom is called the ultimate life.” DISCLAIMER: People living in the world often wish to have many things such as property, fame, happiness, etc. However, when asked which of these things is the ultimate, most of them are confused because of the desire. Human's capital is limitless and has no end. For the most part, those who are mature and calm will answer in a simple way: What meets the most necessary needs in the present is the ultimate. Yaksha Alavakka also possesses many things but still has not satisfied his inherent ambition and arrogance, angry because he does not know what is the ultimate to possess, determined to appropriate. Among all possessions, according to the wisdom of the Blessed One, faith is paramount. This concept is also strange, but if you listen to the Buddha's words, you will realize that property is only a later thing, the result of faith. Because “faith is the mother of merits”, having faith has everything. What to do for long-term happiness is also a big problem? Because the joy that people have is quite a lot, but all are temporary, pass quickly and that joy is difficult to find but easy to lose. For the Blessed One, only by practicing the Dharma can there be lasting happiness. The sweetness of life is also very much, but most of them are like a little bit of honey stuck on the blade, it will be difficult for those who crave that little honey to avoid the disaster of cutting their tongue. Behind that sweet taste are always traps and dangers lurking. Also because of the pursuit of the sweetness of life, many loved ones have lost their lives, even lost their lives. Opposite, The happiness of experiencing the truth, ie liberation and enlightenment, is eternal and peaceful, so it is called the ultimate sweetness. To have a true life, there is only living with wisdom and wisdom. Because, without wisdom, it cannot be called a high and civilized life even though material is adequate. On the other hand, only wisdom is capable of overcoming suffering, destroying wrong views, and achieving self-control and freedom. Therefore, each Buddha's son must realize the true value of life in order to have faith, practice the Dharma, develop wisdom and experience liberation. At Veluvana, taught the bhikkhus: There are these five dangers, bhikkhus, in having faith in a person. What is the year? Monks, a person who has gained a person's faith, then that person commits an error, and the Sangha, depending on the fault, stops that person. make him sit at the end. Again, a person who gains a person's faith, then that person goes to another place, or he has a mental disorder or he dies. This person thinks: "The person I admire and like, now that person is suspended by the Sangha, forced to sit down at the end; Now that person has gone away, has lost his mind, is dead" and this person no longer has faith in the monks. Because he no longer has contact with other bhikkhus, this person does not hear the wonderful Dharma, because he does not hear the wonderful Dharma, this person degenerates from the Dharma. These, bhikkhus, are the five dangers to a person's mere faith. DISCLAIMER: Faith in the Three Jewels, especially in the Sangha, is considered an important element of pure faith, increasing one's blessings and spiritual upliftment. The Sangha is a pure and harmonious community, True faith in the Sangha means putting all your faith in that group. Based on the belief of the Sangha, a Buddhist can be close and close for guidance and study with a monastic. But trusting only one monk and almost ignoring the Sangha is dangerous. Today's monastic community cannot be called absolutely pure, because some of them have not fulfilled their monastic obligations. This fact has a significant impact on the reputation of the monks in general, but it is a personal matter, not related to the essence of the Sangha, which is pure and harmonious. It is for this reason that there exists the phenomenon of some people (who may not have a deep understanding of the teachings or because of their teacher's biased guidance) only believe in one person, who is my teacher, my master. , my guru… and lost faith in the Sangha. This way of believing is easy to fall into obscenity to the point of ignorance, inevitably clinging to the believer and increasing complacency towards the godly. According to the wisdom of the Blessed One, these are dangers. Because when only placing faith in one person, then that person unfortunately ups and downs, prospers according to impermanence, leading to wobble, disappointment, loss of spiritual support and corruption in the Dharma. Therefore, Buddhists must build trust and respect in the Sangha. My teacher is just a leaf of the Sangha tree, a cell of the Sangha's body. The Tang tree is always big, with luxuriant branches and strong roots. The leaf may turn yellow and fall, but the great longevity is always strong. Forgetting the big tree to capture the leaf is a disadvantage, mistaking the leaf for a big tree is even more pitiful.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.17/9/2022.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
