The story of the boatman who took the monk across the river.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH. Legend has it that Quan Am Dai Si often incarnated all kinds of forms to save sentient beings with predestined conditions. There is a monk who practices diligently but still has not attained enlightenment. There is a river in front of the temple. Three days later, the monk crosses the river to visit a friend. The story of the boatman who took the monk across the river One day, the monk got on a boat with some passengers. The strange thing is that today the ferryman taking the monk across the river was not the usual ferryman, but this time it was a very beautiful girl. The ferry docked, the ferry driver collected money from each person, and finally came to the monk. With the monk, the driver demanded "double" money. The Master was surprised and asked: Why? Smiling girl: -Because the teacher looked at me....so besides the fare, I added the money to look at it. The monk silently paid the bill and stepped ashore. Another day the Master crossed the river again. This time also met the girl, and when she arrived the girl demanded "triple" money. The monk asked: Why? The girl smiled and said: -This time I didn't look directly, but looked at me underwater and thought I didn't know, so I looked longer. The monk silently paid the bill and stepped ashore. Another time the Master crossed the river. As soon as he got on the boat, he closed his eyes and concentrated as if he were meditating. The boat docked the girl to collect money, but this time the price was higher than previous times, collecting "five times" times. The Master asked: Why? The driver replied: I don't look at you with my eyes, but with my heart, my mind still thinks of you. The monk paid and disembarked. After this time, he tried his best to practice incessantly, contemplating the body impermanent, the four great illusions; He saw the complete impurity and the process of birth and death in the body, .... His practice then progressed very quickly, he was bored with the beauty of women. And this time the Master crossed the river again. As he stepped onto the boat, he calmly gazed at the girl….In his gaze now radiates a fresh peace; still look like everyone else, without any bias, or being infatuated,... The boat docked, the monk smiled in his compassionate eyes and asked: -How much? The girl replied: -The monk looks at you without thinking of you...The mind has no attachment. So I'll just take you across the river... Bright spot: People who are calm and peaceful inside always look at life with the eyes of "impermanence", and with a heart containing true love, that love in Buddhism is called compassion. The Lotus Sutra, the Universal Gate chapter praising the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara: "From the eyes of sentient beings", that is, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara always uses "loving eyes to see life". And most of us in our hearts still cherish the thoughts of greed, envy, selfishness... will manifest a look that is no longer pure or natural. In order to have such a "natural" and "pure" look, a "from the eye" look like a Bodhisattva, perhaps every practitioner has to go through very skillfully. We remember that Master Hoang Phap Temple wrote two wonderful verses as follows: "Watching the clouds gather impermanent When I look at you, I see the path of clouds."END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.2/11/2021.
