After five days of birth, King Suddhodana solemnly held a ceremony to wash his hair and named the Prince Bodhisattva.
King Suddhodana ordered to invite 108 Brahmins who understood the three books of physiognomy (according to the Brahmin tradition) to the palace to treat them with a special dish "rice cooked with raw milk". matter".
Among those 108 Brahmins, there are 8 Brahmins of great position, namely the Brahmin Rāma, the Brahmin Dhaja, the Brahmin Lakkhaṇa, the Brahmin. The brahmin Jotimanta, the Brahmin Yañña, the Brahmin Subhoja, the Brahmin Suyāma and the Brahmin Sudatta, after seeing the signs, the Crown Prince would have enough. 32 good generals of great people and 80 good signs of minors.
Of the eight great Brahmins, seven of the fellows raised two fingers and affirmatively predicted that:
* The Crown Prince is the one who has all the good generals of the great-great-grandfather and these sub-goods:
– If you live in a palace, you will become the Holy King who rules over the world with four seas as the boundary.
- If you give up the palace and go forth from the home life, you will become the Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment.
There was only one youngest brahmin, of the Koṇḍañña lineage named Sudatta, who, after examining the Prince's fine features, raised only one finger and affirmative prediction that:
- The Crown Prince has all the good generals of the great-great-grandfather and these good generals, the Crown Prince cannot live in the palace, but the Crown Prince will certainly give up the palace to go forth. and then will definitely become a fully enlightened Buddha.
All the brahmins of great wisdom also agreed that:
"The Crown Prince will definitely become the Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment."
During the ceremony of washing his hair and naming the Prince-Bodhisattva, all the brahmins of great wisdom agreed with each other that:
The Crown Prince Bodhisattva will surely become a Buddha of Perfect Enlightenment, bringing benefit, evolution, and happiness to sentient beings in the three- precepts (Pāḷi noun is called attha) and will certainly be fulfilled as desired (Pāḷi noun is called Siddha).
These two nouns are combined together to form the name of the Prince-Bodhisattva, which is SIDDHATTHA, which means that the benefit is achieved, or the one who saves sentient beings, who has achieved all the noble benefits.
Usually, when the Great-Wise Men give a name to a child, they consider the child's future life to give a name suitable for that child's life.
In fact, any name is just a formal proper noun. If that proper noun has a meaning suitable for a person, then it has a motivating potential in itself to encourage that person to overcome all obstacles, to be worthy of his or her name. Therefore, when a child is born, the family often invites the Great-Wise Ones to the house to see the signs, and then perform the naming ceremony for their child.
