the past and the Venerable Maha Sāriputtarā Moggalāna
Renunciation of the rich Sarada
Buddha then told the story of the development of Parami Venerable Maha Moggalāna Sāriputtarā and ...
There is 1 asaṅkhyeyya and 100,000 kappa back, lived a Brahmin and a rich man, both of the tribe of Mahāsāla. The Brahman was called Sarada - the future Venerable Sāriputtarā - and the rich man Sirivaḍḍhana - the future Venerable Maha Moggalāna. Both were the best of friends, and, from their childhood. Upon his father's death, Sarada inherited all his wealth, which also included the property of all his ancestors. As a young adult, Sarada went in a calm and quiet place to think:
"Now I know what life I enjoy. Later, I do not know what life is waiting for me. However, one thing is certain: it always is the same. After conception, it leads to a new birth; after birth, is hopelessly unable to death. Then it starts again and forever. All this wealth does not have any advantage. Of all the wealth, gold, silver, jewels, rice reserves ... nothing can take away when you die. If someone dies, it is useless to wish him anything you want, anything we can do for him; he will be reborn where it needs to be born again (depending on his actions).Sensory pleasures are devoid of any substance. What benefit do we withdraw enjoying these senses? It would be really great that I can find a path that so me of this sphere of sensory pleasures. It would be only after having renounced secular life, I adopt a life of renunciation, so research Nibbana , the final release of the sphere of the senses. "
When Sarada went to his friend Sirivaḍḍhana, he told him of his thoughts, announcing its intention to complete renouncing of life. Then he proposed:
"Friend Sirivaḍḍhana! Would you, too, abandon secular life, to lead the life of giving, dedicated to the research of precious Nibbana ?
- No, Sarada, I do not see it. However, if you are willing to do so, do not wait, start now lead the life of giving! "
Sarada abandoned all his possessions. He left on a mountain to live as a hermit. He quickly developed the jhāna and abhiñña . As at all his wise friends joined him, until Sarada hermit hermits left with 74,000 followers. He taught them the jhāna and abhiñña . All managed to develop fully.
The meeting with the hermit Sarada Buddha Anomadassī
In majjhima Desa , in the kingdom of Candavatī, awoke Buddha Anomadassī.This Buddha's parents were king and queen. The king and queen called YASAVA Yasodhara (nothing to do with the wife of Prince Siddhattha). Like any Buddha Blessed Anomadassī his two aggasāvaka (both noble disciples, the equivalent of Venerable Maha Sāriputtarā and Moggalāna to Gotama Buddha) and his appointed servant, who accompanied him wherever he went ( the equivalent of the Venerable Ananda to Gotama Buddha). His right arm was disciple Ven Nisabha his disciple left arm was the Venerable Anoma. His appointed servant was the Venerable Varuna. Similarly, he had his two noble nuns disciples his right arm was disciple of Venerable Sundara, his left arm was disciple of Venerable Sumana.
One day, while out of a Buddha Anomadassī phala samdpattis he saw Sarada in the mountain, surrounded by his 74,000 followers. Knowing he was destined to become one of the two aggasāvaka a future Buddha, he decided to go see it. He flew through the air with his psychic powers to reach the mountain. That day, all followers of the hermit had gone to look for fruit in the surrounding forests. Buddha Anomadassī went alone on the mountain. When he arrived, the hermit Sarada was also alone. When the hermit saw Buddha approaching him, he knew at once:
"In this world, there is no more noble than he, no one can compete on."
For the host, he prepared a place to settle, he brought him water. He bowed respectfully, gave him the courtesies and sat on the side, lower than him. At that time, all the disciples of the hermit returned, very surprised to see their master mark of profound signs of respect for a foreign - Buddha Anomadassī - and sit lower than him, because they have always imagined their master was the most noble of all beings. They could not hide their astonishment:
"O master! This person would it be more noble than you?
- How dare you ask such a question? Between a mountain and a sesame seed, what is the greatest?
- A mountain is infinitely greater, master.
- Similarly, the magnitude of this being is not comparable with me;Buddha is in this world, it is the noblest. "
The wish of the hermit Sarada
Everyone worshiped Buddha Anomadassī, began to take great care of him, and offered him the best fruits of the harvest. Buddha thought it would be his two main disciples be here with him. When those became aware of the will of the Blessed One, they came to the mountain, accompanied by all the sangha, composed in that time a hundred thousand monks. Upon arrival, hermits hastened to prepare a good place to sit. To do this, they covered the ground with flowers. Buddha Anomadassī rose, sit up facing the sangha and before all hermits, on higher ground, also covered with flowers. To allow considerable merit to the hermits who prepared with great care the Home location sanghaand himself, he became absorbed in the nirodha for seven days. Knowing what type of absorption was the perfect, all the sangha also plunged into thenirodha . To protect Buddha Anomadassī the weather, the hermit Sarada handed over her an umbrella made of leaves, still, seven days absorption of monks, without eating or doing anything else. Only rapture invades.
When everyone left his absorption, Buddha called Nisabha near him - his disciple right arm - urging him to teach for all the hermits, a sermon about the virtues developed by the gift of flowers, such they had to do the sangha .After he invited Anoma - his disciple left arm - to say the same sermon. When it was done, not one became hermits do Ariya . Buddha Anomadassī saved himself an education, after which the 74 000 hermits all became arahant , except Sarada, the Parami intended him to the particular distinction ofaggasāvaka , when next Buddha Sasana (the time Gotama Buddha). The Blessed One then had to say " ehi monk ! "And all obtained spontaneously bowl and robes. At this time, the hermit Sarada formulated his desire to Buddha Anomadassī:
"O noble Buddha! With kusala I made my offering of flowers and my protection seven days with an umbrella leaves, may I become, like your noble disciple Ven Nisabha, aggasāvaka disciple arm right a next Buddha! "
With anāgataṃsa Nana , a proper knowledge to Buddha and to predict in a very distant future, based in particular on complex factors of karma beings and their changing Parami , Blessed examined the probabilities offered themselves to Sarada hermit. Then he answered:
"Sarada, all the conditions are favorable by 1 asaṅkhyeyya and 100,000kappa , you will become a aggasāvaka . In this kappa , there will be five Buddhas: Buddha Kakusandha first, followed Koṇāguma Buddha then Buddha Kassapa, and after Gotama Buddha, from which you will be the disciple right arm. Your name will then Sāriputtarā. "
After that, Anomadassī Buddha and all the sangha - with 74,000 followers - departed, leaving the Sarada hermit alone on the mountain.
The desire to Sirivaḍḍhana
Soon, the hermit Sarada visited his friend Sirivaḍḍhana, who still lived fully in the secular world. On arriving, he stopped at the door of his house.Sirivaḍḍhana opened it:
"O friend Sarada! That is so long that we did spot revised. Please enter so! Sit down! (He greeted courteously his friend and sat next to him.) Where are your followers? Do not they with you?
- One day, all of my disciples had gone to look for fruit on the mountain, I received a visit from an exceptional being. Nobody can be compared to him. (He recounted his friend everything that happened next ...) Thus I will become a disciple of Gotama Buddha right arm.Until then, let whole way, my friend! May you become a disciple of the Buddha left arm! Strive to become a aggasāvaka with me!
- How can I do this? I do not even know what Anomadassī Buddha, I do not have any relationship with him! (He thought a moment.) Take me to him, my friend! Help me, please let me know! Then only I will be able to accomplish a great meritorious act and make me my wish accordingly.
- Do not be worried about that, I make a point of going Anomadassī invite Buddha and his monks to come home. Just take care of the need to receive them.
- Heard! I will go and do construct a shelter capable of housing two hundred thousand monks. I will organize everything to offer them food and drink for seven days. "
The hermit went to find Buddha to announce the invitation:
"O noble Buddha! Compassion for my friend Sirivaḍḍhana, I will be so glad that you agree with the sangha , an invitation for the food and drink for seven days. Would you do him the honor of your visit, come to each of these seven days, and deliver instruction at the end of the seventh day? "
Accepting the invitation of the rich Sirivaḍḍhana Buddha Anomadassī came to each of these seven days, with a hundred thousand monks. Sirivaḍḍhana made them serve meals and drinks, and the seventh day, offered a set of three robes for each of the monks. At that time, Buddha taught the dhamma. When the sermon was over, Sirivaḍḍhana approached the Blessed:
"O noble Buddha! The wish of my friend the hermit Sarada are fulfilled it will aggasāvaka at the time of Gotama Buddha. With all kusala I just do during those seven days, may I become, like your noble disciple Ven Anoma, aggasāvaka disciple left arm a future Buddha! "
With anāgataṃsa Nana Buddha Anomadassī deeply examined the probabilities that were available to the rich Sirivaḍḍhana, before answering:
"All conditions are favorable in 1 asaṅkhyeyya and 100,000 kappa , you will become a aggasāvaka . In this kappa , there will be five Buddhas: Buddha Kakusandha first, followed Koṇāguma Buddha then Buddha Kassapa, and after Gotama Buddha, from which you will be the disciple left arm. Your name will then Mahā Moggalāna. "
Sirivaḍḍhana marked appreciation by bowing respectfully before the Buddha.Everyone was enchanted by this noble prediction.
When Buddha (Gotama) had finished the story, he says, as he did at the end of each story of his other great disciples:
"As everyone can see, the special awards that are unique to each of these monks they were not called by their head, but they are due exclusively under the determination of their distant hope certified by an omniscient Buddha and countless Parami they have developed over extremely long periods.
