1- Ân Cha Mẹ : Tâm hiếu là tâm Phật, hạnh hiếu là hạnh Phật . Hiếu kính Cha Mẹ là bổn phận người con, Cha Mẹ là người sinh ra mình, nuôi dưỡng mình nên mình phải cung kính báo ơn, đây là công đức lớn được sánh ngang với trời Phạm thiên. Công đức của những người con hiếu thuận với Cha Mẹ thật vô lượng vô biên, nhất là lúc cha mẹ khi tuổi về già. Chúng ta phải chăm nom săn sóc. Đạo hiếu là truyền thống lâu đời của văn hóa Á Đông. Phải ý thức được rằng Cha Mẹ tại tiền như Phật tại thế, thờ kính cha mẹ là thờ kính Phật. Cha Mẹ mình, mà mình không tôn kính, không nhớ ơn thì có lẽ không còn ai để mình tôn kính và nhớ ơn trên cuộc đời này.
Trong Kinh Tăng Chi I,75 có dạy :
“ Này các Tỳ kheo. Có hai hạng người trả ơn không thể nào được. Thế nào gọi là hai ? Đó là Mẹ và Cha. Nếu một bên vai cõng Mẹ, một bên vai cõng Cha, làm như thế suốt trăm năm cho đến một trăm tuổi. người con cũng chưa làm đủ hay trả ơn đủ cho Cha Mẹ. Và nếu đấm bóp, thoa, xức
Tắm, rửa, gội, nơi đó Mẹ Cha có vãi đại tiện, tiểu tiện dù như vậy thì người con cũng chưa làm đủ hay trả ơn đủ cho Cha Mẹ.
Vì cớ sao ? Vì rằng Cha Mẹ đã hy sinh tất cả cho con cái, dưỡng nuôi chúng lớn, dạy dỗ chúng vào đời.
Sữa Mẹ mà những người con uống trong người đã lưu truyền luân hồi trong một thời gian dài, cái này là nhiều hơn chứ không phải nước trong bốn biển “.
Cho nên những người con sống hiếu thuận với cha mẹ chính là tấm gương sáng về đạo đức tâm linh cho thế hệ hôm nay và mai sau, công đức của người con cao quí nhất không gì bằng hiếu hạnh, và ngược lại tội báo lớn nhất không gì bằng bất hiếu. Hiếu thuận thờ kính cha mẹ là hạnh đạo tốt lành, được cha mẹ mến thương người con đó sẽ được hạnh phúc nhân quả báo ứng vẹn toàn.
Cha Mẹ là bậc ân đức cao cả mà chúng ta phải tôn trọng quí kính như một vị Phật. Chúng ta không làm tròn bổn phận của một người con hiếu đạo thì thật là hổ thẹn với tha nhân. Được phụng dưỡng cha mẹ là vận may tối thượng nhất của người con, nếu không có cha mẹ liệu ta có được ngày hôm nay không ? Buổi đầu ta mới biết đi, biết nói, ai tập ta đi, ai tập ta nói ? Ta có thể sống theo bản năng trọn vẹn, lớn lên cho đến ngày trưởng thành hôm nay …?
Báo đáp Mẹ Cha không phải phụng dưỡng cha mẹ bằng tiền của, vật chất mà phải giúp cha mẹ mở rộng niềm tin chánh pháp, sống tri kiến hiểu biết, không gieo ác nghiệp, không mê tín dị đoan, không làm đau khổ cho mình và cho người cũng như cộng đồng xã hội.

Trong đời sống của chúng ta, ngoài cha mẹ thì những người thân thuộc là những mối quan hệ phát triển được đời sống đạo đức của mình. Hơn ai hết Thầy Cô là bậc giáo dưỡng cho ta nhân cách sống, để chúng ta có được trí tuệ, nhận diện sự phong phú sâu sắc trong nghề nghiệp, trao đổi phát triển trong cộng đồng xã hội.
Ân Tam Bảo và Ân Sư trưởng nói trên, ngoài tình cha mẹ ra, đây cũng là huyết thống tâm linh trong thịt da mỗi người chúng ta. Nên ta chớ quên.
Để có được một cuộc sống trọn vẹn từ vật chất đến tinh thần, từ thuở bé lọt lòng đến ngày ta khôn lớn phải tốn rất nhiều công sức cha mẹ, thầy cô đã nuôi dưỡng đem đến cho chúng ta. Bởi vậy mà chúng ta phải hằng ghi nhớ tri ân trọn vẹn.
3-Ân quốc gia xã hội : Quê hương là ý niệm và trách nhiệm của dân tộc nói chung của từng người nói riêng. Ý thức được Đất nước là trách nhiệm của mỗi người chúng ta đối với những người đang bảo vệ hòa bình cho nhân dân bá tánh được an cư làm ăn cơm no áo ấm.
Ân quê hương đất nước là ân những nhà lãnh đạo chức trách giữ gìn bảo vệ xã hội đồng thời phát triển xã hội đất nước ngày càng hưng thịnh.
Nhờ có họ mà giữ được thanh bình độc lập cho dân tộc, giống nòi thêm thạnh trị hạnh phúc. ,nạn đao binh chiến tranh xâm lược gây chết chóc và khổ đau cho quê hương đất nước, lo âu và sợ hãi của người dân sẽ không còn.

Ý nghĩa của lễ này là đem bỏ đi hết những điều xấu , dở , cũ kỹ của năm sắp qua để đón những cái mới mẻ , tốt đẹp của năm mới sắp tới .

CÚNG AI TRONG LỄ GIAO THỪA
Phan Kế Bính trong Việt Nam phong tục có viết :
Tục ta tin rằng mỗi năm có một ông hành khiển coi việc nhân gian , hết năm thì thần nọ bàn giao công việc cho thần kia , cho nên cúng tế để tiễn ông cũ và đón ông mới .
Cúng tế cốt ở tâm thành , và lễ cúng vào giữa nửa đêm nên đượm vẻ thần bí trang nghiêm . Cựu vương hành khiển bàn giao công việc cho tân vương thay đức Ngọc Hoàng để coi sóc nhân gian trong một năm cho đến giờ phút giao thừa sang năm .
Lễ trừ tịch bao hàm một ý nghĩa trọng đại tống cựu nghinh tân nên lễ được cử hành rất trịnh trọng từ tư gia tới các đình chùa.
Những năm về trước , trong giờ phút này , chuông trống đánh vang , pháo nổ không ngớt , truyền từ nhà nọ sang nhà kia , khắp kẻ chợ nhà quê.
SỬA LỄ GIAO THỪA
Tại các đình miếu cũng như tại các tư gia lễ giao thừa đều cúng mặn .Các ông thủ từ lo ở đình miếu , còn tại các tư gia do người gia trưởng đảm nhiệm .Xưa kia người ta cúng giao thừa ở đình , ông Tiên chỉ hoặc thủ từ đứng làm chủ lễ , nhưng người ta cũng cúng giao thừa ở thôn ở xóm nữa .
Bàn thờ giao thừa được thiết lập ở giữa trời . Một chiếc hương án được kê ra .Trên hương án có đỉnh trầm hương hay bình hương .Hai bên đỉnh trầm hương có hai ngọn đèn dầu hoặc hai ngọn nến . Lễ vật gồm chiếc thủ lợn hoặc con gà , bánh chưng , mứt kẹo , trầu cau , hoa quả , rượu nước và vàng mã , đôi khi thêm cỗ mũ của Đại vương hành khiển .
Lễ vật được bày trên hương án trước giờ trừ tịch .Đúng giao thừa chuông trống vang lên ,ông chủ ra khấu lễ , rồi dân chúng kế đó lễ theo , cầu xin vị tân vương hành khiển phù hộ độ trì cho một năm may mắn .
Tại đình làng , cùng với lễ cúng ngoài trời còn lễ Thành Hoàng hoặc vị phúc thần tại vị nữa .
Các chùa chiền cũng có lễ cúng giao thừa , nhưng lễ vật là đồ chay , và đồng thời với lễ giao thừa nhà chùa còn cúng Phật , tụng kinh và cúng Đức Ông tại chùa .
Ở các tư gia , các gia trưởng thường lập bàn thờ ở giữa sân , hoặc ở trước của nhà đối với những nhà không có sân .
Ngày nay ở thôn quê rất ít nơi còn cúng lễ giao thừa ở các thôn xóm , ngoài lễ cúng tại đình đền .Và ở các tư gia tuy vẫn cúng giao thừa nhưng bàn thờ thật là đơn giản .
Có khi chỉ là chiếc bàn con với mâm lễ vật , có khi mâm lễ vật lại đặt trên chiếc ghế đẩu .Hương thắp lên được cắm vào một chiếc ly đầy gạo hoặc chiếc lọ nhỏ .Có gia đình hương thắp đặt ngay trên mâm lễ , hoặc cắm vào khe nải chuối .
ĐẠI VƯƠNG HÀNH KHIỂN VÀ PHÁN QUAN
Có mười hai vị đại vương , mỗi ông cai trị một năm cõi nhân gian là Thập nhị hành khiển vương hiệu tính theo thập nhị chi, bắt đầu từ năm Tý , cuối cùng là năm Hợi .Hết năm Hợi lại quay trở lại năm Tý với Đại vương hành khiển của mười hai năm trước.
Các vị đại vương này còn được gọi là đương nhiên chi thần , mỗi vị có trách nhiệm cai trị thế gian trong một năm , xem xét mọi việc hay dở của từng người , từng gia đinh ,từng thôn xã cho đến từng quốc gia để định công luận tội , tâu lên Thượng đế . Mỗi vị đại vương hành khiển có một vị phán quan giúp việc .
Vị đại vương hành khiển lo việc thi hành những mệnh lệnh của Ngọc Hoàng Thượng đế và trình lên những viẹc xảy ra .Còn vị phán quan thì lo việc ghi chép công tội của mọi người , mọi gia đình , mọi thôn xã , mọi quốc gia .
Trong khi làm lễ cúng Đức đương niên đại vương hành khiển người ta khấn theo đức Thổ thần và Thành Hoàng vì khi đức đại vương hành khiển đã giáng lâm thì Thổ thần và Thành Hoàng có nhiệm vụ nghênh tiếp do đó cũng được phối hưởng lễ vật.

Chiều ba mươi Tết sau khi sửa soạn xong xuôi người ta làm lễ cúng gia tiên sau đó đèn nhang phải giữ thắp suốt mấy ngày Tết cho tới khi hoá vàng .
Trong mấy ngày này , trên bàn thờ luôn luôn có sự hiện diện của tổ tiên .Để giữ cho hương khỏi bị tắt từ chiều ba mươi người ta thường dùng hương vòng .
Cùng với cúng gia tiên ta phải cúng Thổ Công trước để xin phép cho tổ tiên được về đón Tết cùng con cháu .
Cúng gia tiên ba mươi Tết , sáng mùng một lại cúng .Và trong mấy ngày Tết cho đến khi hoá vàng ngày hai bữa có lễ cúng gia tiên .Và bao giờ cũng phải cúng Thổ Công trước .

Nơi đây có vị Sa-Môn ham nghe, nhớ kỹ, hiểu thấu, biết quán-sát và biết tóm gọn những nghĩa chính-yếu. Một hôm, vị ấy lại nơi vị Đại-Sư, y trong giáo-pháp của Như-Lai, đặt ra câu hỏi: “Đức thế-Tôn có nói về mười hai chi nhân-duyên sai-biệt nhau và bậc Năng-Nhân cũng nói về Duyên-Sinh, vậy mười hai chi kia, chúng nhiếp-thuộc vào đâu?” Nay tôi muốn được nghe về ý-nghĩa ấy, xin Đại-Sư giải-thích cho.
Biết vị kia hỏi đúng chân-nghĩa của Phật, vị Đại-Sư liền gọi vị Sa-Môn kia lại mà bảo rằng: “Đối với lời ông hỏi, trong ba thứ: Phiền-não, Nghiệp và Khổ, thu nhiếp hết cả mười hai chi”.
Trong sách có nói về sự phân-biệt của mười hai nhân-duyên hay mười hai chi. Trong ấy có Mười chi và Hai chi, nên gọi là “Mười Hai Chi”. Vì chúng có sự sai-biệt nên gọi là “Sai-Biệt”. Như bộ-phận của xe có nhiều bộ-phận khác nhau, nên gọi là “Chi”. Thường giữ thân, khẩu tịch-lặng, nên gọi là “Năng-Nhân”. Nói về Năng-Nhân thuyết, tức là chỉ về vị tuyên sướng và giải-thích giáo-nghĩa ấy. Song, đây chỉ là cái tên khác của sự “Nói”, chẳng phải là tự-tính, quyết-định là sĩ-phu. Nương chân-tướng tự-tại, thời-cơ, tự-nhiên theo với nhân-duyên mong muốn. Mong muốn gặp vị Hóa-chủ, nhân duyên gặp gỡ sẽ phát sinh. Đó là nhân-duyên sở sinh.
Trong mười hai chi-pháp sai-biệt này, phiền-não, nghiệp và khổ, chúng nương-tựa lẫn nhau, như bó cây lau, ba loại kia, đều thu-nhiếp hết trong ấy. Nói về chữ “Tận” (hết), có nghĩa là không còn gì bên ngoài nữa.
HỎI: Phiền-não là gì? Nghiệp là gì? Khổ là gì? Những pháp sai-biệt này sẽ nhiếp -thuộc vào đâu?
ĐÁP: Chi phiền-não bắt đầu (hay là chi số Một), cùng với chi số Tám, chi số Chín, đối với sự sai-biệt trong mười hai chi-pháp, thì chi-pháp bắt đầu (chi số Một) là Vô minh, chi số Tám là Ái, chi số Chín là Thủ. Ba chi ấy nhiếp-thuộc vào phiền-não. Nghiệp là gì? Chi số hai và chi số Mười là Nghiệp. Chi số Hai là Hành, chi số Mười là Hữu. Hai chi-pháp này nhiếp-thuộc vào Nghiệp. Còn bảy chi-pháp khác đều nhiếp-thuộc vào Khổ. Nghĩa là, ngoài những chi-pháp nhiếp-thuộc vào Phiền-não, vào Nghiệp rồi, còn bảy chi-pháp khác đều nhiếp-thuộc vào Khổ. Đó là: Thức, Danh-sắc, Lục-nhập, Xúc, Thụ, Sinh, Lão tử. Nói chữ “Đều” là lời nói bao gồm tổng-quát, trong đó bao-nhiếp tất cả: “ái-biệt-ly khổ, oán-tăng-hội khổ và cầu bất đắc khổ”. Cho nên, trong mười hai chi-pháp này, phiền-não, nghiệp và khổ, đều thu-nhiếp hết. Nói về chữ “Duy” (chỉ thuộc), nó có nghĩa hạn-chế. Các chi-pháp trong kinh nói, chỉ trong ba loại này thu-nhiếp hết, không còn sót chi-pháp nào.

ĐÁP: Từ Ba sinh ra Hai, có nghĩa là từ ba phiền-não sinh ra hai nghiệp. Từ Hai sinh ra Bảy, có nghĩa là từ nơi hai nghiệp sinh ra bảy chi-pháp của khổ, như đã dẫn ở trên. Bảy sinh trở lại nơi Ba, có nghĩa là các phiền-não lại từ ba phiền-não sinh ra, rồi sinh ra hai nghiệp v.v... “Vòng Hữu này thường chuyển”, có nghĩa là: “Hữu” (hữu-lậu) có ba loại là Dục-hữu, Sắc-hữu và Vô-sắc-hữu. Nhân-duyên trong ba Hữu này, chúng lưu-chuyển không ngừng. Do lưu-chuyển, chúng trở thành những chúng-sinh khác nhau, rồi tự chúng lại lưu-lãng. Trong câu này có chữ “thử” (này), nó hiển bày cho nghĩa bất-định, không phải hiển bày cho nghĩa luân-chuyển, vì trong ấy, chúng lần-lượt sinh ra các Hữu. Đó là nghĩa bất-định.
HỎI: “Vậy, thân tự-tại của chúng-sinh là gì? Tác-dụng của chúng như thế nào?
ĐÁP: “Các thú (cõi) chỉ do nhân-quả, chỉ trừ các sự giả-danh. Trong này không có chúng-sinh. Đó là thực-nghĩa. Không phải giả-lập mà có. Cảnh tướng giả-lập, không thành vật thực.
HỎI: “Nếu như thế, cái gì chuyển từ đời này đến đời khác?
ĐÁP: “Không có những pháp cực-vi nào chuyển từ đời này đến đời khác. Tuy nhiên, từ nơi pháp Không, lại trở lại nơi pháp Không. Từ nơi vô ngã, ngã-sở, phiền -não, nghiệp, năm loại không-nhân [4] lại sinh không vô ngã, ngã-sở, và bảy loại khổ-quả [5] của pháp (sự vật) cũng vô ngã, ngã-sở. Tuy nhiên, từ nơi tự-tính vô ngã của pháp, lại sinh ra tự-tính vô ngã của pháp. Ông nên biết như thế và nên nói như thế.
HỎI: “Từ nơi tự-tính vô ngã của pháp lại sinh ra tự-tính vô ngã của pháp, có gì làm thí -dụ?”
ĐÁP: “Như tụng, đèn, gương, ấn, lửa, tinh và mơ (trái mơ), tiếng”. Đó là những thí-dụ. Giả-dụ, lập thành tự-tính vô ngã và thành-tựu các pháp thế-gian, thì cũng nên biết chúng đều như thế. Ví như ông thày tụng một bài nào đó, nếu chuyển đến đệ-tử tụng, thì sau lời tụng của ông thày, không còn lời tụng của ông thày ấy nữa. Thế nên, lời tụng của ông thày không nhập với lời tụng của người đệ-tử kia. Nhưng, nó cũng không phải từ chỗ khác mà có lời tụng ấy. Vì nó không có nhân-quả. Như lời mà ông thày tụng, tới khi tâm-thức không còn tác-động nữa, thời nó cũng lại như thế. Vì nó xong rồi thường qua đi, không ảnh-hưởng đến đời khác. Và, đời khác kia cũng không từ đâu mà có được. Vì nó không có nhân-quả. Như lời ông thày tụng cùng đệ-tử tụng, bài tụng ấy, tức là lời ông thày kia, nhưng khác với lời ông thày kia. Thực, không thể đặt để nó một cách dễ-dàng được. Y vào sự việc khi tâm-thức không còn tác-động trong lời tụng của ông thày kia mà phân-biệt, thì sinh ra sự chia-xẻ tâm-thức. Sự sinh ra ấy cũng lại như thế. Nghĩa là, tức là cái kia, nhưng lại khác cái kia, không thể đặt để nó một cách dễ-dàng được. Như thế, từ đèn sinh ra ánh đèn, và nương vào đó mà thành ảnh-tượng. Từ gương hiện ra các ảnh-tượng. Từ các dấu ấn mà thành chữ. Từ tinh-chủng của khí có ra lửa. Từ hạt giống sinh ra mầm. Từ trái mơ tiết ra nước miếng. Từ tiếng sinh ra âm vang của tiếng. Có nghĩa là, sự vật tức là nó mà khác nó, không thể đặt để nó một cách dễ-dàng được. “Các Uẩn kết nối nhau, không rời, trí nên xét”, Uẩn tức là năm uẩn: sắc, thụ, tưởng, hành và thức. Kết nối nhau, có nghĩa là nó từ nhân nào đó mà sinh ra cái khác. Không có những pháp cực-vi nào, từ ở nơi đời này di-chuyển đến đời khác. Cho nên, lưu-chuyển là do từ nơi tập-khí hư-vọng phân-biệt sinh ra. Phần sau câu này có chữ “ưng” là “nên”, có nghĩa là nên quán-sát ngược lại, để biết rõ thực-chất các pháp ra sao. Quán-sát các pháp, thấy chúng thuộc vô thường, khổ, không, vô ngã. Quán-sát được như vậy, đối với các sự việc không bị mê-lầm. Không mê-lầm thời không có Tham. Không có Tham thời Sân không sinh ra. Không có Sân thời không có Nghiệp. Không có Nghiệp thời không có Thủ. Không có Thủ thời không tạo ra cái Hữu sau này. Không có Hữu thời không có Sinh. Không có Sinh thời những đau khổ nơi thân-tâm không phát sinh. Như thế, đối với các chi-phần khác, không kết-tập năm loại nhân, thời quả khổ không sinh. Quả khổ không sinh, đó là quả giải-thoát. Cho nên, cần phải dứt trừ tất cả, dứt trừ cả những ác-kiến về đoạn, thường v.v...

[1] Bộ Nhân-Duyên-Tâm Luận này thuộc số 1654 trong Đại-Chính Đại-Tạng Kinh. Bộ luận này do Bồ-Tát Long-Thọ tức Long-Mãnh viết, nhưng thất-lạc tên người dịch từ chữ Phạm sang chữ Hán.
[2] Long-Mãnh tức là Long-Thọ (Nàgàrjuna). Theo bộ Phật-Học Đại-Từ-Điển (Hán- văn), y theo bộ Tây-Vực-Ký quyển thứ 8 thì đời Đường dịch là Long-Mãnh, xưa kia dịch là Long-Thọ. Tên của Ngài, Trung-Hoa dịch thành 3 tên: Long-Mãnh, Long-Thắng và Long-Thọ. Nhưng, danh-hiệu Long-Thọ, thường được người đời xưng-tụng nhiều hơn. Ngài sinh tại miền Nam Ấn- Độ, sau đức phật nhập Niết-bàn vào khoảng bảy trăm năm.
[3] HỮU chỉ cho pháp hữu-lậu, còn có sự tạo-tác, còn phiền-não, còn bị luân-hồi trong ba cõi: cõi Dục, cõi Sắc và cõi Vô-sắc.
[4] Nhân-tố do tứ-đại-chủng (đất, nước, lửa, gió) tạo ra nên gọi là “Nhân”. Nhân có 5 loại: 1) Sinh- nhân: tứ-đại-chủng sinh ra sắc-pháp. 2) Y-nhân: sắc-pháp nương theo tứ-đại-chủng. 3) Lập- nhân: sắc-pháp gắn bó theo tứ-đại-chủng để tạo-lập. 4) Trì-nhân: sắc-pháp cố gìn giữ cho tương- tục không gián-đoạn. 5) Dưỡng-nhân: làm tăng-trưởng sắc-pháp. Nơi đây, đạt tới lý Không, nên gọi là 5 loại Không nhân.
[5] Có nhân phải có quả. Có tâm thân được kết-hợp bằng 5-uẩn, nên có 7 thứ khổ: sinh, lão, bệnh, tử, ái biệt ly, oán tăng hội, và cầu bất đắc. Nơi đây đã đạt tới lý Không, nên không chịu các quả khổ trên.
