Every spring comes, almost everyone gives each other good wishes: Happy spring, peaceful spring, spring sand wall etc. In the Buddha's house, in addition to the good wishes, the Buddha disciple also offered each other a spring of Maitreya happy, because it was the eternal spring in the hearts of enlightened people, liberated. Giving each other those blessings is also reminding each other that the chiseled chiseled in, know how to transform the mind and body to live with the Spring of Maitreya full of joy.
What is the Maitreya Buddha related to spring, why do every Buddha child wish and hope in the early days of the new year like that? The image of Maitreya Buddha with a compassionate smile of joy is a symbol of happiness, luck and success, which are things that people always desire. That image also reminds us when we come to the Buddha's door, we need to know how to let go, forget about the problems, worry about our life, so that we can practice and be happy and forgive, so that our life can be sublimated. .
Maitreya Buddha, also known as Maitreya Bodhisattva, is the 5th Buddha ( Four Buddhas have been born: Exile, Jaw, Lettuce and Shakyamuni ), manifested in this world to teach. sentient beings.
Maitreya , Sanskrit is Maitryea , translated as from market , ie people with compassion. His main name is Amitabha (Ajita) , translated as Infinite Power .
In the past, when he first started his spiritual practice, his vow to bring peace to his sentient beings was extremely profound and his kindness was immense, so the gods praised him and called him " The Merciful ". ( Maitreya ). The word is kindness, is the first genus in the four immeasurable mind (from, compassion, joy, and discharge). This kindness is born naturally, regardless. Maitreya Buddha currently resides in the Heavenly Palace (Tusita). The sutras record that Shakyamuni Buddha signed for him to be the future Buddha in this world of her mother into the Longhua Association: "One day, while staying in Deer Park, the Buddha told two Bhikshus that when human life reached eighty years, there would be a Transfiguration of the Holy King named Sankha. When listening to Buddha's teaching like that, Venerable Ajita is in the congregation and they vow to become the King of the Holy Kingdom with the purpose of benefiting everyone. The Buddha immediately signed for Bhikshu Ajita. Then the Buddha taught the human life up to 80,000 years, there will be a Buddha appearing in this world, His title is Maitreya. Then Venerable Maitreya immediately vowed to cultivate diligently to become the Maitreya Buddha, and the Buddha signed for the false Religion. Then the Buddha told Sun Jia A Nan to bring the golden medicine that Di model Kieu Dam just offered to the monks and gave it to the Maitreya venerable. (Central Business Class III).
In pagodas as well as in folk, Maitreya Buddha is often worshiped with 3 popular images:
1. His statue sits alone with a smile, open-chested shirt, bulging belly;
2. His statue sits smiling, his chest is open, his belly is big, there are 6 babies around;
3. His statue stood, grinned, his chest was open, his belly was big, he carried a big bag.
- The image of him sitting on a big belly is a symbol of emptiness, the mind is always happy. German Maitreya has a very special fresh smile, folk often called Maitreya Smile. It is an expression of great joy, this joy comes from the mind.Thanks to that, when everyone looked at him, everyone was happy, because he felt the peace from him.
Thus, His smile is the expression of two noble qualities in Buddhism, namely, joy and discharge. Hy is the joy of the good work of others, called the merit. Discharge means giving up, leaving all the troubles, the bad things created by people for us.Happiness and joy are the basic factors that help Buddhist learners advance on the path of enlightenment. Devotion is a precious material that helps people resolve narrowly resentment, hatred, and selfishness, without suffering each other and bringing peace and happiness to everyone. The Maitreya Buddha attained enlightenment under the tree of Long Hoa, life expectancy of eighty-four thousand, because he practiced happiness and discharge, so his life was long. Of course, if we always live with joy, tolerance, generosity, we will definitely not be harmed by the toxins of greed, anger and ignorance. Thus, we will live in peace, self-life and longevity are also growing.
Hyacinth - two words are simple but it is very difficult to practice. When my heart is still full of afflictions, my mind is still in a bad mood, my mind is still wandering with a vague dream, full of desire, it is inevitable to be happy and sad and happy according to the scene of prosperity, failure, ups and downs. The five sexual worlds (money, beauty, fame, eating, sleeping), although their nature is unintentional, they have the power to attract and push people immersed in suffering. The heart of a person who has not yet purified is difficult to avoid the attraction of the five sensual pleasures. Only when the mind is pure, peace of mind, the mind is free of brain troubles, greed, delusion, selfishness, envy, arrogance ... then at that time the natural heart is wide with spring flowers.
Happiness is really only for those who know how to live, to let go and to benefit humanity. That is to achieve the usual spring of discharge. Who knows the life of joy, altruism is the person who opens the door of happiness for himself and for life.In the Surangama Sutra, the Buddha taught the austerities who want to be liberated by themselves, they must know to live "regardless of distinction", that is, regardless of the attachment of attachment to the scene.
As a Buddha disciple, to live fully with the spring of joy, first of all, we must practice living with everyone by virtue of tolerance, compassion and compassion for people who love themselves, forgive the mistakes of common people. around. Do not write down or accept bad words, gestures, or actions of others in your heart.Think that what they do is the negligence of being accidentally or clumsy. If you keep hugging the frustrations, resentment, you will only create more suffering in your life.
More than a step, we have to practice converting hateful and envious things into joy.Seeing others succeed, we are not jealous, even if it is the one who makes us suffer.On the contrary, we are also happy with them, happy to praise their success, especially when that success goes to goodness, towards the goal of liberation. From there, gradually practice to remove what we value, whether material or spiritual, with a happy and free mind. Because if it has been abandoned but sad, it will not work.Discharge is not a sacrifice to make the sacrifice suffer. Discharge must go together with Hy. Must discharge with joyful and joyful heart like a prisoner when removing chains. Discharge is a gesture of disassembly to be liberated, so we are happy and not a bondage but weeping.
Buddha taught clearly: Hey monks, there are two diseases. What are two things? - Physical and mental illness. Many people say that their body is healthy for a year, two years, three years, four years, five years, ten years, twenty years, thirty, forty, fifty or a hundred years, or more. But in addition to those who have washed away the uncleanness (the saints), very few beings in this world can say that their mind is healthy, even in the moment. (Anguttara Nikaya, Tang Nhat A Ham).
Get rid of anything that is not yours. That abandonment will bring you happiness and happiness. What is not yours? Colors, feelings, thoughts, actions, consciousness are not of children. Let go of identity, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness. It is an abolition that will make the children Happy and An Vu i "(Tap A Ham XXII, 33).
Thus, in order to live peacefully with the spring of the discharge of Maitreya Buddha, nothing more, every Buddha child we have to practice living happily to let go with a definite, nostalgic, non-condescending way, let it pass, let it go, don't mind.See if everything has passed like an echo, as if flying over the surface of the lake, like the wind passing through the bamboo branches. Having let go of all attachments in the mind, I and the new people live in harmony and joy. Thanks to that, it is easy to make each other a peaceful spring, true happiness in life. And so, Tet is a happy day, full of hope and happiness for us.
- The image of Maitreya Buddha has six children around, is symbolic for " Hackers " (six enemy names), which is six bases (Eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind) in each person. These six bases always follow the ceiling (Lust, sound, flavor, taste, dhamma), then lose the mind of pure calmness. He sat smiling peacefully, motionless at all the harassment of the bandits, symbolizing awareness, always righteous thoughts when exposed to green ceiling. Although we say that the six bases are the enemy, we cannot separate the six bases, but we must go from the six bases to practice mind and body. When the six apartments are pure, that is not attracted by the green ceiling, not passionate, not running after the names, interests, talents and colors of Luc Tran, then from here, Buddha-nature will be displayed.
- The image of Maitreya Buddha carrying a smart cloth bag is related to the story of his personalization. Legend has it that during the Liang Dynasty, China, Maitreya Buddha with a stout body, a big belly, and a mouth that always said so different was the person who appeared at Yue Lin Temple, Chau Minh, Fenghua District, China.However, no one knows what his surname is, only to see that he always carries a cloth bag on his shoulder and begs alms. After eating, there is plenty of leftover He will put in that cloth bag. From that image, people call him the Venerable Father (Venerable carrying cloth bags).
Another spring comes back. Spring is a season of hope, a hope for a better, brighter future, like the compassionate smile of Maitreya Buddha. His smile has given sentient beings a positive belief in the brilliant future. In the first day of the New Year, as a Buddha disciple, in addition to wish each other good words, nothing more than to wish each other peace and happiness, like the happy smile of Maitreya Buddha. The smile comes from a pure mind, without suffering and it is an eternal smile. Therefore, every spring of Maitreya is a reminder for us to continue our efforts to practice happiness and compassion, to be peaceful and free. People who study Buddha, are not happy and peaceful when they are living with spring. Be brave to let go of resentment, talent, sharpness, fame ... for the heart to be free.
The first day of the Lunar New Year is the day of the opening of Buddha Maitreya, the day of happiness for every living being. Happiness by liberating suffering, out of samsara. In each person, no one does not have six enemies, but they become enemies or you, important because of yourself. So, if we know how to practice and transform the six bases, then it is natural to have peace and freedom. That is the spring of free life.
