Mahakammavibhanga (Mahakammavibhanga).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
Like this I hear.
At one time, the Blessed One was in Rajagaha, Veluvana, and was nursing squirrels on the spot.
At that time the venerable Samiddhi was staying at a cup in the forest. Then the pagan wanderer Potaliputta spent his time walking, traveling sequentially, going to Venerable Samiddhi; After arriving, speak to the Venerable Samiddhi with greetings and greetings. After saying greetings and greetings, he sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the ascetic Potaliputta said to Venerable Samiddhi:
— Friend, Samiddhi, in the presence of the Blessed One, I personally heard and personally noted the following: "Victory is bodily karma, falsehood is verbal karma, only mental karma is true. And there is a jhāna attainment (samapatti), because of this attainment of jhāna, there will be no feeling.”
— Don't say that, sage Potaliputta. Don't say that, sage Potaliputta. Do not slander the Blessed One; It is not good to slander the Blessed One. The Blessed One did not say thus: "Victory is bodily karma, false hope is verbal karma, only mind karma is true." And, sage, having a Zen attainment, due to this attainment of Zen attainment, there will be no feeling.
— How long have you been ordained, sage Samiddhi?
— Not long, sage. There are three years.
— Now here we are also asking the elder bhikkhus what to do when a new bhikkhu thinks that it is necessary to protect such a teacher. Venerable Samiddhi, when a person intends to do bodily, verbal, or mental karma, what does that person feel?
— Venerable Potaliputta, when a person intends to do bodily, verbal, or mental kamma, then he feels suffering.
Then the wandering wanderer Potaliputta, neither praised nor objected to Venerable Samiddhi's words. Without praise, without objection, the pagan wanderer Potaliputta got up from his seat and left.
Then Venerable Samiddhi, not long after the astral wanderer Potaliputta left, went to Venerable Ananda; after arriving, speak to the venerable Ananda with greetings and greetings; after saying greetings and greetings to friends and then sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, Venerable Samiddhi recounted to Venerable Ananda all his conversations with the ascetics Potaliputta. After hearing this, Venerable Ananda said to Venerable Samiddhi:
— This, sage Samiddhi, is the subject of a conversation that must be addressed to the Blessed One. Friend Samiddhi, let us go to the Blessed One and, after arriving, explain to the Blessed One this meaning clearly. As the World-Honored One answers us, let us keep it like that.
— Yes, sage.
Venerable Samiddhi obeyed Venerable Ananda. Then Venerable Ananda and Venerable Samiddhi went to the Blessed One; After he had come to pay homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, Venerable Ananda, presented to the Blessed One all the stories between Venerable Samiddhi and the wandering ascetic Potaliputta.
Upon hearing this, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda:
— Ananda, I have never seen the pagan wanderer Potaliputta, when did this story take place? The question, Ananda, which should have been answered analytically by the pagan wanderer Potaliputta, was answered by this ignorant Samiddhi in one direction.
When he heard this, the venerable Udayi said to the Blessed One:
— Venerable sir, if this is what the venerable Samiddhi means, then what one feels is a painful feeling.
Then the Blessed One said to Venerable Ananda:
— Behold, Ananda, the wrong path of this fool Udayi. I know, Ananda, that if this fool Udayi opened his mouth now (a matter of concern), he would open his mouth and speak unreasonably (ayoniso). Indeed, Ananda, the starting point of the wandering ascetic Potaliputta's question was about the three sensations. Ananda, if this ignorant Samiddhi were asked thus by the ascetic wanderer Potaliputta and answered thus: 'Friend Potaliputta, if anyone intends to do bodily kamma, verbal kamma, or mental kamma, he will be able to give When he reaches a happy life, he will feel a happy feeling. Friend Potaliputta, if one intends to do bodily kamma, verbal kamma, or mental kamma capable of leading to a painful feeling, that person will experience a painful feeling. Friend Potaliputta, if one intends to do bodily kamma, verbal kamma, mental kamma capable of leading to neither pain nor pleasure, he will feel neither pain nor pleasure"; If he answered thus, Ananda, the foolish Samiddhi gave a righteous answer to the wandering ascetic Potaliputta. And again, Ananda, ignorant, uneducated ascetics, they will understand the great distinction of karma of the Tathagata, Ananda, if you listen to the Tathagata's analysis of the great distinction of karma."
— The Blessed One, now is the time; The time has come, World-Honored One, analyze the great distinction of karma! After listening to the Blessed One, the bhikkhus will uphold and uphold.
— So, Ananda, listen and be attentive, I will speak.
— Yes, venerable sir.
Venerable Ananda obeyed the Blessed One. The Blessed One said as follows:
— Ananda, there are these four types of people present in the world. how is four? Here, Ananda, there is a person who kills, takes what is not given, engages in sexual misconduct, lies, speaks with two tongues, speaks harshly, speaks frivolously, has lust, has ill will, and is evil. ants; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell.
But here, Ananda, there are people killing... there is wrong view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world.
Here, Ananda, there is a person who abstains from killing, abstaining from taking what is not given, abstaining from sexual misconduct, abstaining from lying, abstaining from double-tonguing, abstaining from evil speech, and abstaining from false speech. frivolous, giving up lust, giving up anger, having right views; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world.
But here, Ananda, someone abstains from killing... has right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell.
Here, Ananda, there is a recluse or brahmin who, through ardor, by diligence, by diligence, by being undistracted, by right attention, is contemplative. When his mind enters concentration, thanks to his divine eye, which is pure and superhuman, he sees people here killing living beings, taking what is not given, engaging in sexual misconduct, lying, double-tonguing, slandering, and frivolous talk. , have lust, have anger, have wrong views; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, in an evil destination, in the lower realms, in hell. He said thus: "There are indeed evil deeds, there are consequences for evil deeds. And I have seen some people here killing, taking what is not given, speaking with two tongues, having wrong views, and after the breakup of the body, after death, that person is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower land, in hell. He said as follows: "Certainly everyone kills living beings, takes what is not given... has wrong views; After the breakup of the body, after death, they are all reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower land, hell". Those who know like this, they know righteously. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one. Thus, what he himself knows, sees for himself, understands for himself, here he holds, clings, and declares: "Only then is it true, otherwise it is all illusory."
Here, Ananda, there is a recluse or a Brahmin, thanks to his enthusiasm, due to his diligence, etc., he sees someone killing living beings, taking what is not given... with wrong views; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world. He said thus: "There are really no evil deeds, no evil retribution. And we have seen people here killing, taking things not for… have wrong views; After the breakup of the body, after death, one is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly realm, in this world. He said as follows: "Certainly everyone kills living beings, takes what is not given... has wrong views; “After the breakup of the body, after death, they are all reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world.” Those who know like this, they know righteously. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one." Thus, what he himself knows, sees for himself, understands for himself, here he holds, clings, and declares:
Here, Ananda, there is a recluse or a Brahmin, thanks to his enthusiasm, due to his diligence, etc., he sees that there are people here who give up killing, give up taking what is not given... have the right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world. He said thus: "There are indeed good deeds, there are virtuous results. And I have seen people here who give up killing, give up taking what is not given... have right view after the breakup of the body and death, and are reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world." He said as follows: "Surely everyone who abstains from killing, gives up taking what is not given... has the right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, they are all reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly realm, in this world. Those who know like this, they know righteously. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one." Thus, this he knows for himself, sees for himself, understands for himself, here,
Here, Ananda, there is a recluse... he sees someone giving up killing, giving up taking what is not given... has right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell. He said thus: "There are really no good deeds, no virtuous results. And I have seen people here give up killing, give up taking what is not given... have right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower land, and a hell. He said as follows: "Surely everyone who abstains from killing, gives up taking what is not given... has the right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, they are all reborn in the bad realms, in the bad destinations, in the lower realms, in hell. Those who know like this, they know rightly. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one." Thus, what he himself knows, sees for himself, understands for himself, here he holds, clings, and declares:
Here, Ananda, any recluse or brahmin says thus: 'There is certainly evil karma, there is evil retribution. Thus, I accept him. He said as follows: "I have seen here a person killing, taking what is not given... has a wrong view, after the breakup of the body and death, I see him being reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, a hell. ". Thus, I also accept him. And if he said as follows: "Surely all those who kill, take what is not given... ; After the breakup of the body, after death, they are all reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell", so I do not accept him. And if he says thus: "Those who know thus, they know rightly. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one'; Thus, I do not accept him. What he himself knows, sees for himself, understands for himself, here he holds, clings, and declares: "Only then can it be true, otherwise it's all illusory." Thus, I also do not accept him. Why why? Likewise, Ananda, is the Tathagata's knowledge of the Great Discrimination of Karma.
Here, Ananda, any recluse or brahmin says thus: 'There is certainly no evil karma, no evil retribution. Thus, I do not accept him. And he said as follows: "I have seen here some people killing, taking what is not given... have wrong views; After the breakup of the body and death, I see that person is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world." Thus, I accept him. And if he said the following: "Surely everyone who kills, takes what is not given... all after the breakup of the body and death, they will all be reborn in the good world of Heaven, this world"; Thus, I do not accept him. And if he says thus: "Those who know thus, they know rightly. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one'; Thus, I do not accept him. What he knows for himself, sees for himself, understands for himself, here he holds, attachment and declare: "Only then will it be true, otherwise it is all false". Thus, I also do not accept him. Why why? Likewise, Ananda, is the Tathagata's knowledge of the Great Discrimination of Karma.
Here, Ananda, any recluse or brahmin says: 'There is certainly good kamma, virtuous retribution. Thus, I accept him. And he said as follows: “I have seen here someone who renounces killing, gives up taking what is not given… has the right view; After the breakup of the body and death, I see that person is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world." Thus, I also accept him. And if he said the following: "Surely all those who give up killing, give up taking what is not given... all after the breakup of the body and death; they are all reborn in good animals, heaven, and this world”; Thus, I do not accept him. And if he says thus: "Those who know thus, they know rightly. Those who know otherwise, their wisdom is of the wrong one'; Thus, I also do not accept him. What he himself knows, sees for himself, understands for himself, here, he holds, clings and declares: "Only then will it be true, otherwise it is all false". Thus, I also do not accept him. Why why? Likewise, Ananda, is the Tathagata's knowledge of the Great Discrimination of Karma.
Here, Ananda, any recluse or brahmin says thus: 'There is certainly no wholesome kamma, no virtuous retribution'. Thus, I do not accept him. And he said as follows: “I have seen here people who give up killing, give up taking what is not given… have right views; After the breakup of the body, after death, I see that person is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell." Thus, I accept him. And if he said as follows: "Surely those who give up killing, give up taking what is not given... have right view, all after the breakup of the body, after death, they will all be reborn in the bad realms, in the bad destinations, in the lower realms. , hell"; Thus, I also do not accept him. Likewise, Ananda, is the Tathagata's knowledge of the Great Discrimination of Karma.
Here, Ananda, someone who kills, takes what is not given... has a wrong view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, a hell, etc. Either an evil kamma that leads to a feeling of pain and suffering done by him in the past, or an evil kamma that leads to a feeling of suffering. suffering life is done by him later on, or during the end of life, a wrong view is accepted and held by him. Therefore, after the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in an evil realm, an evil destination, a lower realm, and a hell. And whoever here kills, takes what is not given... has wrong views, that person must receive the retribution that arises right now or in another life.
Here, Ananda, someone who kills, takes what is not given... has a wrong view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world... Either a good kamma that leads to a feeling of happiness done by him in the past, or a good kamma that leads to a feeling of happiness due to a good feeling. he does later, or at the end of his life, a right view that he accepts and holds firmly to. Therefore, after the dissolution of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world. And whoever here kills, takes what is not given... has wrong views, that person must receive the retribution that arises right now or in another life.
Here, Ananda, one who renounces killing, giving up taking what is not given... has right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in heaven, in this world... Either a good kamma that leads to a feeling of happiness done by him in the past, or a good kamma that leads to a feeling of happiness due to a good feeling. he does later, or at the end of his life, a right view that he accepts and holds firmly to. Therefore, after the breakup of the body, after death, he is reborn in a good destination, in the heavenly world, in this world. And whoever here abstains from killing, abstaining from taking what is not given... has right view, that person must receive the retribution that arises right now, or in another life.
Here, Ananda, one who renounces killing, giving up taking what is not given... has right view; After the breakup of the body, after death, that person is reborn in an evil realm, a bad destination, a lower realm, a hell, etc. Either an evil kamma that leads to a feeling of pain and suffering done by him in the past, or an evil kamma that leads to a feeling of suffering. suffering life is done by him later on, or during the end of life, a wrong view is accepted and held by him. And whoever here abstains from killing, giving up taking what is not given... has right view, that person must receive the retribution that arises now or in another life.
Thus, Ananda, there is kamma that is both non-existent and non-existent.
Thus the Blessed One preached. Venerable Ananda happily accepted the Blessed One's words.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.2/12/2021.
