Gopaka Moggalana Sutras.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
Like this I hear.
Once the venerable Ananda was staying at Rajagaha at Veluvana (Truc Lam), where the squirrels were raised, when the Blessed One passed away not long ago.
At that time, King Ajatasattu, her son Videhi of Magadha (Ma-kita), because of suspicion of Pajjota (King of Coronation), built Rajagaha firmly.
Venerable Ananda in the morning put on his robes, took his bowl and robe, and entered Rajagaha for alms. Then venerable Ananda thought: "Now it is too early to enter Rajagaha for alms. So let's go to the Brahmin Gopaka Moggallana and his place of work." Then the venerable Ananda went to the brahmin Gopaka Moggallana and his place of work. The brahmin Gopaka Moggallana saw the venerable Ananda coming from afar, and, having seen it, said to the venerable Ananda:
-- Come, Venerable Ananda! Good return, Venerable Ananda! It has been a long time since Venerable Ananda has created this opportunity, that is, to come here. Venerable Ananda, sit down, this is the seat prepared.
Venerable Ananda sat down on the seat prepared. And the brahmin Gopaka Moggallana chose another low seat and sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the brahmin Gopaka Moggallana said to the venerable Ananda:
-- Is it possible that a bhikkhu has fully and completely accomplished all the dharmas that the venerable Gotama, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One?
-- There cannot be a single bhikkhu, brahmin, who has fully and completely accomplished all the dharmas that the Blessed One, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One. This Brahmin, the Blessed One is the one who awakens the path that has not previously been revealed, makes known the previously unknown path, speaks of the previously unsaid path; He is a person who understands the Way, knows the Way, and is skillful about it. And now the disciples are those who live and practice the path and follow it, and will accomplish (those dharmas) later.
But the conversation between the venerable Ananda and the brahmin Gopaka Moggallana was interrupted. The brahman Vassakara, the great minister of Magadha, went to inspect the Rajagaha fortifications, went to the Brahmin Gopaka Moggallana's square, went to the venerable Ananda; after arriving, speak to the venerable Ananda with greetings and greetings; After saying greetings and greetings, friends sat down to one side. Sitting to one side, the brahmin Vassakara, the great minister of Magadha, said to the venerable Ananda:
-- Here, venerable Ananda, what story are you discussing? And what story of the Venerable was interrupted?
-- Here, brahmin, the brahmin Gopaka Moggallana said to me: "Is it possible, Venerable Ananda, a fully accomplished bhikkhu, fully all the dharmas that the Venerable Gotama, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One has accomplished?" When this was said, brahmin, I said to the brahmin Gopaka Moggallana thus: 'There cannot be, brahmin, a single bhikkhu who is perfectly accomplished, a single bhikkhu. fully all the dharmas that the Blessed One, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One, has accomplished. knows the path that has not been known before, speaks of the path that has not been told before; is the one who understands the way, knows the way, and is skilled in it, and his disciples are those who live and practice the way and follow it will accomplish (those dharmas) later on".
-- Venerable Ananda, is there a bhikkhu arranged by the Venerable Gotama: "This one, after I pass away, will be your refuge, and you will now refer to him." .
-- There is not a single bhikkhu, brahmin, who is arranged by the Blessed One, the Knower, the Seer, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One: "This one, after I have passed away, is , will be your refuge, and you will guide him."
-- Venerable Ananda, was there a bhikkhu who was agreed by the Sangha and a large number of Elder monks: "This one, after the extinction of the Blessed One, will be a refuge for the Blessed One. You, and you will now refer to this one?"
-- There is not a single bhikkhu, Brahmin, who is agreed upon by the Sangha and arranged by a large number of Elder bhikkhus: 'This one, after the extinction of the Blessed One, will be refuge for us, and we will now refer to this one."
-- And so there is no refuge, Venerable Ananda, so what is the cause, you can be at peace?
-- We, brahmin, are not without refuge. We have refuge, brahmin, and the Dharma is our refuge.
-- When asked: "Is there a bhikkhu arranged by the Venerable Gotama: 'This one, after I pass away, will be your refuge, and will you now refer to him? "," replied the venerable one: "Brahmin, there is not a single bhikkhu arranged by the Blessed One, the Wise One, the Seer, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One: "One: This, after I pass away, will be your refuge, and we will now refer to him.” When asked: "Is there a single bhikkhu who has been agreed with by the Sangha and a large number of monks? The Elder bhikkhu arranged: "This one, after the extinction of the Blessed One, will be your refuge, and you will now refer to him." And the venerable one replied: "There is not a single bhikkhu, brahmin, agreed by the Sangha and arranged by the majority of the Elder bhikkhus: 'This one, after the Blessed One, extermination, will be our refuge, and we will now refer to him.” When asked: “And thus having no refuge, Venerable Ananda, what is the cause, you can harmony?" The venerable replied: "We are not without refuge, brahmin. We have refuge, Brahmin, and the Dharma is our refuge.” But, venerable Ananda, how should this statement be understood?
-- The Blessed One, brahmin, the Wise One, the Seer, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One, who has studied the Dharma, has proclaimed the precepts and duties of Patimokkha (Patimokkha). rub) for the Male-stilts. During the days of the Uposatha we lived in the same village, we all gathered together in one place; After the gathering, we asked what happened to each one. If, while asking each other like this, a bhikkhu commits a crime or violates the precepts, we tell him to do the right Dharma and the right teaching. Indeed, it is not the venerable ones who treat us, it is the Dharma that deals with us.
-- Venerable Ananda, is there any bhikkhu that you now revere, respect, bow down to, make offerings to, after reverence, respect, you rely on?
-- There is, brahmin, a bhikkhu whom we now revere, respect, worship, and make offerings to, and after we have reverently and respectfully, we rely on.
-- Venerable Ananda, when asked: "Is there a bhikkhu arranged by the Venerable Gotama: 'After I pass away, this one will be your refuge, and you will now this one?". And the venerable one replied: "Brahmin, not a single bhikkhu has been arranged by the Blessed One, the Knower, the Seer, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One: "This one, After I pass away, I will be your refuge", and we now refer to this person. When asked: "Venerable Ananda, is there a bhikkhu who has been agreed with by the Sangha and arranged by a large number of Elder bhikkhus: 'This one, after the extinction of the Blessed One, will be a refuge. a title for you, and you will now refer to this one", and the Venerable answered: "There is not a single bhikkhu agreed upon by the Sangha, arranged by a large number of Elder Bhikkhus:
--There are, brahmins, ten delightful dharmas declared by the Blessed One, the Knower, the Seer, the Arahant, and the Fully Enlightened One. Among us, whoever has all these ten dharmas, we now respect, respect, worship and make offerings to him; After reverence and respect, we rest and rely on him. What are ten?
Here, brahmin, a bhikkhu who is virtuous, lives restrained by the precepts of Patimokkha, is fully dignified and righteous, sees danger in minor faults, after having upheld it. , studying in the Dharma.
He is a multi-literate person, keeping things he's heard, storing things he's heard; Those dharmas that are good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, with the meaning, with the text, that speak of the holy life, are completely pure and complete, and these dharmas are widely heard, accepted, maintained, familiarized by the speech, and received well. Thoughts, right views are cleverly enlightened.
He knows enough about practical things such as robes, almsfood, bed, and medicine.
He is a person who, according to his will, has no difficulty, no fatigue, has attained the four jhānas, belongs to the upper Sangha, and is presently happy.
He performs different kinds of miracles, one body manifests many bodies, many bodies appear one body, manifests, transforms across the wall, through the wall, through the mountain, like passing through space; Apparate emerges across land as in water; walking on water does not sink like on land; sitting cross-legged, growing old in the air like a bird with wings; with his hand, he touches and touches the moon and the sun, objects of such great power and majesty; can fly to Brahma on their own.
He with divine ear pure and superhuman, hears the sounds of gods and humans, near and far.
After going deeply into the minds of sentient beings, the minds of humans with his own mind, he is known as follows: The mind has greed, knows the mind has greed. The mind is not greedy, knowing the mind is not greedy. The mind has anger, knowing the mind has anger. The mind is not angry, knowing the mind is not angry. The mind has delusion, knowing the mind has delusion. The mind is not delusional, knowing the mind is not delusional. Focused mind, know focused mind. The mind is scattered, knowing the mind is scattered. Great practice mind, know is great practice mind; not great action mind, knowing is not great practice mind. The mind is not unsurpassed, knowing the mind is not unsurpassed. Unsurpassed mind, knowing the unsurpassed mind. Meditating mind, knowing the meditating mind. The mind does not meditate, knowing the mind does not meditate. Free mind, know liberated mind. The mind is not liberated, knowing the mind is not liberated.
He remembers past lives as one life, two lives... he remembers past lives.
He with his divine eye, pure and superhuman, sees the life and death of living beings. He knows that the lowly, the noble, the beautiful, the ugly, the lucky, the unlucky are all due to their actions.
With the cessation of the taints, after having realized with superior wisdom, he attains and abides in the present unsmug free mind, liberated wisdom.
These ten, brahmins, have been expounded among us by the Blessed One, the Knower, the Seer, the Arahant, and the Fully Enlightened One. Whoever has all these ten dharmas, we now respect, respect, pay homage and make offerings to him; After reverence and respect, we rest and rely on him.
Upon hearing this, the brahmin Vassakara, the great minister of Magadha, said to General Upananda:
-- What does the General think? If so, general, these venerable ones respect those who are worthy of respect, those who are worthy of respect, those who are worthy of worship, those who are worthy of worship; Surely these venerable ones respect those who are worthy of respect, respect those who are worthy of respect, worship those who are worthy of worship, and make offerings to those who are worthy of offerings. And if those venerable ones do not revere, respect, worship, or make offerings to this bhikkhu, then who do those venerable ones revere, respect, worship, and make offerings to?
Then the brahmin Vassakara, the great minister of Magadha, said to the venerable Ananda:
-- Where does venerable Ananda live now?
-- Hey Brahmin, I live in Veluvana (Truc Lam).
-- Venerable Ananda, isn't Veluvana a pleasant place, with little noise, with little noise, sheltered from the wind, away from crowds, suitable for meditation?
-- Indeed, brahmin, Veluvana is a pleasant, low-noise, low-noise, sheltered from the wind, far away from crowds, suitable for meditation, worthy of protectors and guardians like you.
--Indeed, Venerable Ananda, Veluvana is a pleasant place, with little noise, with little noise, sheltered from the wind, away from crowds, suitable for meditation, worthy of those who practice Zen and nature inclined to meditation like you Venerable. And the Venerables are Zen practitioners and are inclined towards Meditation. Venerable Ananda, at one time Venerable Gotama was staying at Vesali, Great Forest, in Kutagarasala. Then, venerable Ananda, I went to Mahavana, Kutagarasala, to Venerable Gotama. There, the Venerable Gotama used various means to talk about Zen meditation. Venerable Gotama is truly a Zen practitioner and is inclined towards Meditation. And Venerable Gotama extolled all Meditation.
-- That World-Honored One, brahmin, does not praise all samadhi, does not praise all samadhi. And what kind of meditation, brahmin, does the Blessed One not praise? Here, brahmin, some live with a mind imbued with lust, dominated by lust, and do not know as it really is that liberation from lust has arisen. He takes lust as the ultimate object, meditation practice, meditation, meditation, absorption meditation. He lives with a mind imbued with anger, dominated by anger, and unaware that liberation from anger has arisen. He takes anger as the ultimate object, meditation practice, meditation meditation, meditation, absorption meditation. He lives with a mind imbued with laxity and laxity, dominated by laxity and laxity, and does not know as it really is that liberation from sloth and torpor has arisen. He takes sloth and torpor as his ultimate object, meditation practice, meditation meditation, Meditation, Entering Meditation. He lives with a mind imbued with restlessness, dominated by restlessness and unreal knowing liberation from restlessness has arisen. He takes restlessness as the ultimate object, Meditation practice, Meditation meditation, Meditation meditation, Entering meditation. He lives with a mind imbued with doubt, dominated by doubt, and unreal knowing liberation from doubt has arisen. He takes doubt as the ultimate object, meditation practice, meditation meditation, meditation, absorption meditation. That World-Honored One, brahmin, does not praise this kind of meditation. dominated by doubt and do not know as it really is, liberation from doubt has arisen. He takes doubt as the ultimate object, meditation practice, meditation meditation, meditation, absorption meditation. That World-Honored One, brahmin, does not praise this kind of meditation. dominated by doubt and do not know as it really is, liberation from doubt has arisen. He takes doubt as the ultimate object, meditation practice, meditation meditation, meditation, absorption meditation. That World-Honored One, brahmin, does not praise this kind of meditation.
And, brahmin, what kind of meditation does the Blessed One extoll? Here, brahmin, a bhikkhu is separated from sensual pleasures, detached from unwholesome dharmas, and abides in the first jhāna, a state of bliss born of detachment from sensual pleasures, with reach. He ceased to seek and thought, attained and abided in the second jhāna, a state of bliss born of concentration, free from thought and thought, inwardly single-minded. He separates from joy, abides in equanimity, is mindful, aware, and feels the pleasure of feeling, which the Noble Ones call equanimity, happiness, and abiding in the third Zen. Equanimity, release of suffering, cessation of joy and sorrow that have been felt before, and attaining and staying in the fourth meditation, without suffering, without pleasure, with pure mindfulness. This kind of meditation, brahmin, is praised by the Blessed One.
-- Indeed, Venerable Ananda, Venerable Gotama rebukes Zen that is to be blamed, and praises Zen that is worthy of praise. Now, venerable Ananda, we must go. We have things to do, many tasks to do.
-- Hey brahmin, do what you think is appropriate.
Then the brahmin Vassakara, the great minister of the country of Magadha, joyfully accepting the words of the Venerable Ananda, got up from his seat and left. Then the brahmin Gopaka Moggalana, when the brahmin Vassakara, the great minister of Magadha, was not long away, said to the venerable Ananda:
-- If we had not asked the Venerable Ananda, the Venerable Ananda would not have answered at that time.
-- Did we say to you, brahmin, 'There is not a single bhikkhu, brahmin, who has accomplished these ten things completely, completely, the Dharma that the Blessed One, the Arahant, the Fully Enlightened One, has accomplished, Brahmin, that World-Honored One is the one who awakens the path that has never been created before. previously unknown path, speaks of the path that has not been told before; one who understands the way, knows the way, and is skilled in it, and now his disciples are those who live and practice the way, and will accomplish these dharmas later on."END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.5/12/2021.
