"How is a monk to know the superiority and inferiority of people [09] ? That is, a monk knows that there are two types of people: those with faith and those with unbelief ., the believer is superior, the unbeliever is inferior. There are two types of people who have faith: They often come to see the monks and they do not often come to see the monks. Those who come to see a monk are superior, those who do not often come to see a monk are inferior. Ordinary people who come to see a bhikkhu are of two classes: respectful and non-respectful. People with respect are more; People who are not respectful are poor. There are two classes of people who have respect: those who ask for sutras and those who do not. Those who ask the sutras are superior, those who do not ask the sutras are inferior. People who ask for sutras are of two types: one-pointedly listening to the sutras and one-pointedly listening to the sutras. Those who are single-mindedly listening to the sutras are better, those who are not single-mindedly listening to the sutras are inferior. There are two classes of people who listen to the sutras single-mindedly: hearing and then accepting and upholding the Dharma, and hearing and then not accepting and upholding the Dharma. Those who hear and then accept and uphold the Dharma are better, those who hear and then don't accept and uphold the Dharma are inferior.
