The meaning of six senses of repentance.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH. Every day, Buddhists recite the Six Senses of Confession, but do you understand the meaning of the six senses of repentance? First is to remind to let go of all delusions, to return to the original life. This is a special creative point of Vietnamese Zen, not trivial. Usually, Buddhists just recite penitential songs such as Confession One Hundred and Eight Red Names of Buddhas, Compassionate Water Sam, Sam Medicine Master or chanting Dharma Flower... This penitence, especially the six senses, is the creation of the penitential practice so that even in daily life, the practical application of spiritual practice that few people have noticed so far. Because, the six senses: eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are the places where each person lives every day, if they repent, this place is very close to us, most accurate. As the preface of the penitentiary: “From beginningless eons to the present, we have lost our original mind and do not know the right path.” That is, since ancient times, we do not know from when until now we have mistakenly lost our own mind, not knowing the right path is not knowing the right path of cultivation, so we go the wrong way, the wrong way in the world. . Thus, from time immemorial, we have lived according to delusion and delusion, so we have forgotten our own mind and do not know what is the right path. The nature of each person's mind is the original mind, but if you don't know it, what do you know, do you know your own mind? Perhaps just listening to it is like listening to the Buddhas, Patriarchs, teachers, and ladies preaching, so I believe that I have the original mind, but if I know it, I guess I haven't realized it. The truth is that everyone has the original mind or the original mind, but because they live only with delusional thoughts and false minds, they are confused. Therefore, the Buddha said that sentient beings lost their roots in that place, which is true. While the nature of mind, which is the original story, the story of each person's home, without knowing it, goes to know where things are, distant things, and everyone's family affairs, but we don't know about our family's stories, that is delusional. For a long time our six senses have chased after the six external senses, worrying about knowing the things of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, Dharma, and objects of distant outer world, leading us further and further away from our original mind. Now, if we ask again what our own mind is, many people still find it strange as to where it is, sometimes thinking it has nothing to do with us. But if you ask about the sad, happy, angry, and hateful minds... then seeing them closer and clearer, that's the sad thing. For example: 'The man with the same death' in the Lotus Sutra left his father as a rich bourgeois and wandered around and struggled to find clothes and clothes every day in a foreign country. Meanwhile, the father is a wealthy bourgeois, full of treasures for his children to inherit. We, too, have a genuine original mind, but we wander around in the outer six worlds, seeking some limited understanding, gaining a little and then losing, losing and looking for more, it's really deluded. These six senses of repentance remind everyone to wake up well and return to seeing, hearing, and understanding every day in the six senses. Because delusion also leads from the six senses to the six senses and then creates the karma of birth and death, now we have to return from those six senses, so repentance is reminders, repentance to return to the true mind. . 1- First, repent right at the eye: "Wrongly received fake flowers, forgot to look at the real moon". Receiving fake flowers, ie receiving external forms, is called fake flowers. And the real moon is our own mind, that is the true root. But because we forget, we accept the false, the shadow chases after appearances of impermanence and deceit, and then forgets our eternal seeing. For example, when you see a car, you miss the car, when you see a house, you miss the house. When you see something, you only remember that but don't remember that you have the nature of seeing, hearing, etc., that is forgetting the original. We repent right away to learn to remember again as soon as we see and know, what is that? Seeing only knowing to see, right there, the true heart is shining, where there is no need, there is no need to go to know any more. If you practice according to the outward signs and then fall in love, hate, distinguish between good and bad, it is wrong to blur your right view, and be deflected by the green, white, yellow, and purple signs back and forth. , should say "Blind eye not born, the original face". That is, blinding the mind's eye, making it impossible to see his unborn place is his original face or his true face. Because following shadows and appearances, it blinds the eyes of the intellect and cannot see this truth, which is called forgetting oneself according to things. When we repent, it immediately reminds us that seeing is always present in us, even when there is form or no form, it still sees, it still has and does not disappear. And this flesh eye can't see, so it must always be remembered. Most people think that when we see, we see with our eyes. In fact, can the eye see? If the eye sees, the dead person still has the eye, so why can't the eye see, so it's not right to say the eye sees. So, what sees is not what the eye sees. For example: When you turn on the light, the light is on, but is it really bright? Light is due to the power source emitting light, and the lamp is just a light-emitting organ, so a damaged lamp can be replaced with another lamp. Humans are the same, if the eye is damaged instead of crystal, the eye will be bright again, so clear. But when it comes to form, you can immediately see it without trying, without thinking at all. You see the case where we just see something and immediately know without thinking, and then add something that makes that knowing know good-bad, long-short, etc..., this is where important that we forget. Every day we all chant repentance but actually there is no repentance at all, so the Patriarch taught the six senses of repentance to remind us to live right back in our eyes, which will be of great benefit. 2- Coming to the ear is "Hate listening to the Dharma, like listening to evil words, fall in love with the root of the foot, chase after the outside world". Because I like to listen to evil words from the outside, I forget the true root or this eternal hearing nature, and then chase after the false voices outside, but the nature of hearing is always available here, but I don't remember. Confess the karma of the ear to remind us that hearing is always present, always present in us, with or without sound, it still hears. When you hear a voice, you know it has a sound; if you don't hear it, you know it doesn't have it. This is not in the sound, nor in the ear, it is always bright, that is where we repent to return, it is very good to repent like that. Once, Zen Master Vo Tru was discussing the religion with the general Do Hong Kiem. At that time, a crow perched on a tree branch in the front yard. General asked: "Did you hear me?" The Zen master replied to listen. Once the crow flew away, the general asked again: “Master! Can you hear me now?" The Zen master also replied that he heard. The new general asked: "The crow has already flown away, if there is no sound, why do you speak, listen to what?" Zen Master Wu Zhou immediately gathered all the people, he reminded: “Buddha was born very difficult to meet, the Dharma is also difficult to hear, so listen carefully. Because having a voice or not having a voice has nothing to do with the nature of hearing. In the past, the nature of hearing did not arise, where it never ceased to exist. When there was a sound, it was the natural sound of the earth, not the nature of hearing, but when there was no sound, the sound of the earth destroyed itself. So there is birth and death because of the sound, and hearing nature has no birth and death. Because this hearing nature is not caused by sound, but there is birth and death, if you realize this hearing nature, you will not be affected by the sound of the world, you must know that the nature of hearing does not arise and go away." He emphasized for all to pay attention to know that meeting the Buddha was born very difficult, the right Dharma is also very difficult to hear, these things are not easy to hear. Buddhists have long been fortunate to be close to teachers, ladies listening to lectures, and hearing these things are mentioned, so it seems a bit familiar. If you look closely, you will see that in today's samsara world there are still billions of sentient beings who have not heard these things, which is not an easy thing to hear. Insects and crickets have never heard this, birds and dogs have never heard of this, even people living in remote areas who have never met the Buddhadharma cannot hear these things. We often hear it, so we see it often, so we pay little attention. Therefore, he said that the public must see that meaning and remind each person to repent together to return to the root, otherwise they will only worry about chasing good and bad voices outside and then praise and criticize to lose their true roots. Such repentance is fully meaningful. Every day, just after the penitential ceremony, I heard the distinction, praise and criticism, good and bad. We need to remember this: always being aware is real repentance. This is the practical way to help us practice every day. 3- The nose root karma "Often craves for strange smells, a hundred things are suffocating, doesn't like real incense, five parts are pure". That is, like to follow strange and delicious smells. And the real incense is the true scent, the dharmakaya scent is forgotten and forgotten, only remembering the external scent. Ceiling means dust. Closed dust covers the true root. This reminds me to come back, don't follow the scents, the bad smell is deceived by the nostrils. In the past, Buddha used the very beautiful words "ceiling incense", now we call them fragrance. But no matter how fragrant it is, it is still dust, so remember not to be fooled by its nostrils. Usually most people are fooled by their nostrils. When you smell an odor, it is said that the nostrils can smell it. In fact, the nostrils are just pieces of meat that combine to know how to smell. You must remember to live back to knowing how to smell, because that is what is always present in you, it is not in the nostrils, nor in the smell. Therefore, we need to repent of the karmic roots of the nose to remind us to live again. Mr. Hoang Dinh Kien (Hoang Son Coc) studied meditation with Zen Master Hoi Duong for a long time, but it was still not bright. One day, Hui Tang because he mentioned the story of Confucius teaching his students. Confucius said, "Children! Do you think I have something to hide from you! No, I have nothing to hide from you." Through the story, the Zen master wanted to wake him up, but he still didn't know. That day, He took him to the mountains to play, in the season when cinnamon flowers bloomed, the scent flew away. At that time, Mr. Huitang asked: "Can you smell the cinnamon flower?" "Smells know," he replied. Mr. Huitang said, "Then I have nothing to hide from you?" It means that when you go to you can smell the scent of the flower immediately, also that is already there in you, I do not hide anything from you, the truth is right there. Right there, he was enlightened. It's very nice to be able to repent and remember that, but if you keep remembering the smell of cinnamon flowers and forget this truth, that's called delusion. If you can remember it like that, then every day when you go to the kitchen, you will always have the best treatment. opportunity for enlightenment. Whenever you smell food in the kitchen, remember that you are not hiding anything from me, then when in the kitchen it is always bright. Right there, we have already repented, we don't have to wait for the Buddha's table to be repentant, sometimes we go to the Buddha's table to recite repentance, but when we meet the conditions, we forget, so it is not true repentance. 4- Karma of the tongue "Craving for all kinds of smells, likes to judge good and bad". The tongue follows all kinds of good and bad smells, bad smells, consider this good, that bad, but forget the truth when tasting. If you taste it, you know what it tastes like. Thus, is the present shining money. But not remembering, not bright, just worrying about remembering the tongue, remembering the good and bad smell, and then praising and criticizing it, becoming far away from the truth, this is forgetting the true root. Then the tongue has the ability to speak, taste and speak at the same time. This apartment is very easy to deceive people. When talking, run after the voices where the table is talking, called "Ancient discussion, praise and criticism". Talking about the past and present, then praising and criticizing this and that, following that, forgetting the existence of the truth in oneself. Before speaking, awareness is always present in us that we forget. Therefore, Mr. Hue Hai went to Ma To to learn the Way. Ma To asked: "What do you come here for?" Answer: "Pray for the Buddha Dharma". Declaring Team Code: "Our family's treasure refuses to accept, but what do we care about the person who asks for it?" Hue Hai asked: "What is Hue Hai's home treasure?" Ma To teaches: "The very thing you ask me is your treasure, complete without omission." That is, what he asked me was his treasure, but he kept forgetting about it and worried about asking what, worrying about asking for the teacher's understanding to understand, and the present is close to where he is. I forgot again. What you are asking us is the root, but if you want to understand what the teacher said, it is the teacher's, then return it to the teacher, or the Buddha's and the Patriarch's things, then also return the Buddha's ancestors. No matter how good a person is, he can only say what belongs to the Buddha and the Patriarch, not his own, and what you are asking me is his main thing, that is what is close. Today, you remind everyone to remember to return to that place, such repentance is remembering yourself. 5- Karma body "Five organs and hundreds of children, combine together, accept it as real, forget about the dharma body". That is, the body is made of tendons, bones, and flesh and blood, clinging to it as being real, forgetting the true dharma body, and then having sex and murder. That is to create the karma of killing sex: killing, stealing, adultery... forgetting their true nature. But as soon as you touch an object, when you touch it, you know it. This knowing nature is not in things, nor is it in the flesh, but as soon as it touches it, it knows it. You are walking but what if someone touches you? Is it necessary to think then to know? Why don't you remember that, then what do you remember then? At that time, I only knew that this woman was too rude and disrespectful, and then got angry, sad and happy, forgetting the truth that is there. If you remember it, it is always shining brightly, you can reach it wherever you go, from head to toe you know it all. Zen master Ban Khue teaches about this existence, he calls the unborn Buddha mind always present and gives an example of this innate function of the Buddha mind. “Like when you are sitting still, suddenly someone touches your hand with a flame, right there you are startled and automatically withdraw your hand without thinking. This proves that the unborn Buddha mind is wonderfully illuminating and that it arranges everything perfectly. On the other hand, when you think that it was a fire just now, and then realize it is hot fire, and get angry at whoever burned your hand, then you yourself have fallen into the experience of dependence when the event is over. happen". That is, the event has happened, now think about the event that happened and think of this or this guy playing some game, getting angry, thereby covering up the truth. Therefore, repenting of the body's roots to remember the truth does not follow external touches, does not create the karma of killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct to forget this true nature and always remember to repent and return. We, from beginningless eons to now, have lost our original mind and do not know the right path. 6- Karmic sense to repent is "Thinking and thinking, never stopping, stuck in the world, stuck in the mind". Because worrying about things is nowhere, it is not worth calling it idle thinking, because it cannot be mastered and can never be stopped. Even when it is resting, but does it refuse to rest? I also think about it and won't stop. Therefore, because of being caught up in the way of the general, according to the world, we forget the knowing nature that exists in us. Before thinking it is still available, when thinking, it comes later, but most of us only remember the thought but forget this available, that is delusion. Therefore, when an educated person cultivates a little while sitting in meditation, it will be quiet for a while and know when a thought arises, because it is preceded by a thought, so as soon as it arises, it will know it. At present, we immediately return to this mind and repent to live back to the true place. When the mind has thoughts of greed, thoughts of anger arise, then know that there are thoughts of greed and hatred, this knowledge precedes thoughts of greed and hatred, don't mistake those thoughts of greed and hatred for yourself. Thus, it is clear that this is the law of repentance returning to the root.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.6/10/2021.
