Ahosikamma: Karma-Ineffectiveness.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
What is karmic inefficiency?
"Ahosi ca taṃ kammañcāti: Ahosikammaṃ."
Any karma that has been created without the opportunity for its fruition is called karmic ineffectual.
In the Paṭisambhidāmaggapāḷi, it is stated that:
“Ahosi kammaṃ nāhosi kammavipāko,
ahosi kammaṃ natthi kammavipāko,
ahosi kammaṃ na bhavissati kammavipāko. ”
- Karma created, without the result of past kamma.
– Karma has been created, but there is no result of karma in the present time.
- Karma has been created, but there is no result of karma in the future.
In the sex-sphere the mind-process arises fully through the 7 kamma-consciousness-consciousness-elements (kāmajavanacitta), the volition-consciousness-consciousness co-existed with the seven karmic-forming volitions.
The sex-elements that compose the mind are 12 unwholesome cittas (evil mind) and 8 great kusala cittas.
* The first moment of sex-action-consciousness is called diṭṭhadhammavedanīyakamma: present-life-karmic results are karma that only gives results in the present life (first life) only.
If a kamma does not have a chance to bear fruit in the present life, then that kamma becomes karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma), there is no longer any chance for fruition.
* The last 7th volition-consciousness-consciousness-consciousness moment is called upapajjavedanīyakamma: after-life-karma is the karma that gives results only in the next rebirth-period (paṭi-sandhikāla) and for results in the period after having been reborn in the next life (pavattikāla), the present life (second life) only.
If any kamma does not have a chance to bear fruit during the two periods in that second life, then that kamma becomes karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma), there is no longer any chance for fruition.
* The 2nd to 6th sex-element-consciousness-consciousness-moment consists of 5 moments of sex-element-consciousness called aparā-pariyavedanīyakamma: life-life-karmic results are opportunistic karma. giving results from life to life, from the 3rd life to the last life of the Arahant, before the passing of Nirvana.
After the death of the Arahant, Nirvana, freed from the sufferings of birth and death, birth and death in the three worlds, then not only aparāpariyavedanīyakamma: life-life-karmic results, but also all negative karmas, all great wholesome kamma has been stored in beginningless loving-kindness through innumerable past lives up to the present life before becoming an Arahant, all those karmas actually become becoming karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma) no longer has a chance for fruition.
Thus, the mental factor (cetanācetasika) called karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma) is not present in any definite volition-consciousness-consciousness-consciousness-moment, but is voluptuous in reality. These cetasikas are all hidden in the 7 moment of volition-element-consciousness, when the three types of kamma, diṭṭhadhammavedanīyakamma, upapajjavedanīyakamma, aparāpariyavedanīyakamma, there is no longer a chance for the effect of karma, then it becomes ineffective. -fruit-karma.
Indeed, in the Commentary on Sammohavinodānī aṭṭha-kathā, the Ñāṇavibhaṅga explains that:
"Diṭṭhidhammavedanīyādīsu pana bahūsu pi āyūhitesu ekaṃ diṭṭhadhammavedanīyaṃ vipākaṃ deti, sesāni avipākāni, ekaṃ uppajjavedanīyaṃ paṭisandhiṃ ākaḍḍhati, sesāni avipākāni, ekena anantariyena niraye uppaccati, sesāni avipākāni, ... Aṭṭhasu samāpattīsu ekāya brahmaloke nibbattati, sesā avipākā. Idaṃ sandhāya nāhosi kammavipāko'ti vuttaṃ. ”
* Of all the diṭṭhadhammavedanīya-kamma created and accumulated in the present life, which diṭṭhadhammavedanīyakamma has a chance to bear fruit even in the present life (first life), the other diṭṭhadhammavedanīyakamma has no chance. All opportunities for the results of karma in the present life become karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma).
* Of all the upapajjavedanīyakamma kamma, which one upapajjavedanīyakamma kamma has a chance to bear fruit in the next rebirth-period (2nd life), the remaining upapajjavedanīyakamma kammas have no chance to bear fruit in the next life-period. rebirth in the next life (2nd life) all become karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma).
* Of the five grievous non-serious negative karmas, only 1 of the heaviest and most grievous innocent kammas has priority, has a chance to give priority to fruit during the period of rebirth (paṭi-sandhikāla) ) there is consideration of the mind associated with the discharge feeling as the result of bad karma called the rebirth-mind (paṭisandhicitta) that performs the task of rebirth in the next life (2nd life) in the great hell realm of Avīci. never mind. The remaining 4 non-serious negative karmas all become karmic ineffectual (ahosi-kamma) with no chance for the fruit of rebirth in the next life, but the non-insignificant negative karmas- The remaining sin becomes a support-karma that serves as support for the non-serious evil-karma that has a chance for even more severe consequences.
* Of the 9 karmic meditative stages, which are the 5 rupas of wholesome kamma and the 4 immaculate karmic precepts, only the fourth jhāna of good kamma is called non-perception, non-perception. - the ground of wholesome kamma-meditation in the non-perception-non-perception-the wholesome-minded-meditation-meditation ground has the precedence, having a chance to give priority to the fruit during the period of rebirth (paṭisandhikāla) with the non-perception of non-perception. -non-perception-meditation-ground of fruition-consciousness called rebirth-mind (paṭisandhicitta) does the task of rebirth in the next life (2nd life) in the heaven of Non-perception-non-non-perception- heaven, has the longest life span of only 84,000 earth kalpas. The remaining 5 karmic form-moral jhanas and the remaining 3 low-level wholesome kamma-form-sphere jhanas all become karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma), leaving no chance for karmic results to be achieved. again.
The Venerable Sāriputta, referring to the type of kamma that produces results over time, teaches: "Nāhosi kammavipāko."
Teach, show, illustrate
In day-to-day life, someone who has created and accumulated such types of karma as diṭṭhadhammavedanīya-kamma: present-life-karmic results, etc.
* Of all those diṭṭhadhammavedanīya-kamma: present-life-results, only one diṭṭha-dhammavedanīyakamma has a chance to bear fruit in the present life (first life). As for the other diṭṭha-dhammavedanīyakamma kammas that have no chance to bear fruit in the present life, they all become karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma).
* Of all those upapajjavedanīyakamma: after-life-karma, only one upapajja-vedanīyakamma has a chance to bear fruit in the next rebirth (paṭisandhikāla) period (2nd life) and to bear fruit in the period after rebirth (pavattikāla), the present life (2nd life) only. As for the remaining upapajjavedanīya-kamma, there is no chance to bear fruit for two periods (2nd life), so they all become ineffectual karma (ahosikamma).
* In all kamma aparāpariyavedanīyakam-ma: life-life-resulting-karma is karma that has the opportunity to bear fruit from one life to the next, from the 3rd life to the last life of the Arahant. upon the cessation of Nirvana.
When the Arahant has passed away from Nirvana, liberated from the sufferings of birth and death, birth and death in the three worlds, then not only aparāpariyavedanīyakamma: life-life-results of karma, but also all negative karma, all the great kusala kammas stored in beginningless loving-kindness through innumerable past lives up to the present life before becoming an arahant, all of them become karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma) no longer has a chance for fruition.
However, volition-consciousness co-exists with weak akusala-citta, creating bad karma with insufficient dharmas, too light, or mental-volition-consciousness co-existing with great kusala-citta, creating great - Good karma is not enough dhamma, is too light, so the bad karma that is too light, or that great good kamma that is too light will all become karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma) in the following cases:
* Karma that is too light becomes karmic ineffectual
For example: a case where a close friend meets a close friend and invites him to a bar to drink wine and beer and chat with each other. Because of respect, you should reluctantly drink some wine or beer for free, breaking the drinking precept. alcohol, beer, create negative karma to drink alcohol, light beer. After that, the male near-marriage knows the shame of sin, knows how to loathe sin, so he voluntarily observes the five precepts again, becoming a man near-masculine with the five precepts.
Therefore, the evil kamma of drinking wine and beer has no capacity to bear fruit in the next rebirth-period (paṭi-sandhikāla), if there is an opportunity to bear fruit in the post-rebirth period. pavattikāla), in the present life, the result of that evil kamma is insignificant, so the bad karma that is too light becomes karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma).
* Light-hearted great-karma becomes karmic ineffectual
For example, in the case of a close friend who meets a close friend, the impact of creating small merits to help an evil person does not have precepts, so he is reluctant to do so because he respects you. Therefore, that great kusala kamma is too light to have the power to bear fruit in the next rebirth period (paṭisandhikāla), if there is an opportunity to bear fruit in the period after the next rebirth (Paṭisandhikāla). pavattikāla), in the present life, the result of that very light great wholesome kamma is insignificant, so that very light great wholesome kamma becomes karmic ineffectual (ahosikamma).
In summary: Pākakālacatukka: 4 types of karma that give results over time:
Part 4 of the 4 types of karma in the same sex-consciousness-process-consciousness have 7 action-consciousness-moments that give results over time:
Those 4 types of karma are:
1- The mental factor in the first mind-action moment is called diṭṭhadhammavedanīyakamma: the present life-karma is the karma that gives results in the present life (first life).
2- The mental factor in the last 7th mind-action moment is called upapajjavedanīyakamma: after-life-karma is the karma that gives the result of rebirth in the next life and gives the result after rebirth. -birth (second life).
3- The mind-facilitation in the second to the sixth mind-action moment is called aparāpariyavedanīya- kamma: life-life-karma is karma that has the opportunity to give results. from life to life, from the 3rd life, to the last life of the Arahant, before the passing of Nirvana.
4- The mental factor in the 7 moments of mental action that exceeds the time limit for the result of each kamma is called ahosi-kamma: karmic ineffectual is karma that is no longer effective for one's results. every career is okay.
Cause-Cause 3 karma gives different results over time
In the Paramatthadipanimahatika, he belt- Presbyterian Le-di (Myanmar) explained that:
In the 7 sense-elements-consciousness-consciousness classified as follows:
* Action-action-mind 1 to action-action-mind 3 is called action-action-mind increase.
* Action-action-mind 5 to action-work-mind 7 called action-mind-reduction.
* Action-action-mind 4 is called action-action-mind peak.
In terms of the capacity of each mental action:
* The first action-action-mind has weak power, because the first arising has not yet received the support of āsevana-paccaya: permanent-conditional condition.
* The 7th action-consciousness has received the support of āsevanapaccaya: the permanent condition of the previous six mental-actions, but its capacity has decreased, because the last mental-action continues. receiving the permanent-conditional effect of the 6th volition-consciousness has weakened.
* The 2nd to 6th mental formations have the most power, because they receive the support of the āsevanapaccaya: permanent conditions, because they are not the first to arise, nor do they have to. last arise.
Because of that cause, these 3 types of karma give results in different time.
For example, there are 3 types of fruit trees:
* The first type of fruit tree is planted on fertile soil, knows how to take good care of fertilizer, the weather is favorable and windy, so the fruit is short, when it bears fruit, the tree will die and dry, for example a tree. corn, cycads, beans, etc.. because these plants have no core, they cannot live for a long time.
* The second type of fruit tree is planted on fertile soil, then knows how to take care and fertilize, the weather is favorable and windy until the second year to bear fruit, after fruiting, the tree will die gradually, such as a banana tree. , melon, pineapple (pineapple), etc…. because these plants also do not have a core, so they cannot live for many years.
* The third type of fruit tree is planted on fertile soil, the tree matures after many years to bear fruit, when it has given fruit, the tree still lives many years later. Every year, the season comes to fruition, such as jackfruit trees, tamarind trees, mango trees, etc.. Because these trees have cores, they are capable of living for many years.
The same
1- The mental factor in the first mind-action moment is called diṭṭhadhammavedanīyakamma: present-life-resulting karma is the karma that gives results in the present life, (first life). For example, the first fruit tree.
2- The mental factor in the last 7th mind-action moment is called upapajjavedanīyakamma: after-life-karma is the karma that gives the result of rebirth in the next life and gives the result after rebirth. -birth, (second life). Like the second fruit tree.
3- The mind-facilitation in the second to the sixth mind-action moment is called aparāpariyavedanīya- kamma: life-life-karma is karma that has the opportunity to give results. from life to life, from the 3rd life, to the last life of the Arahant, before the passing of Nirvana. For example, the third fruit tree.
In the Visuddhimagamahāṭīkā, the Great Elder Dhammapālamahāthera explains that:
“Dubbalāpi antimajavanacetanā sanniṭṭhānakicca-visesayuttatāya phalapaccane sattivisesayuttā hotīti upapajjavedanīyā anantarikā ca hoti.”
The volition-consciousness-consciousness is co-born with the 7th volition-consciousness, although it has a weak capacity, but it is associated with a special force in giving results in the next life-rebirth period (paṭisandhikāla) and in the next period. when he has been reborn in the next life (pavattikāla), in the present life, because the mind-volition-consciousness co-born with the 7th mental-action has a special function to accomplish that karma, so The mental factor in the last 7th volition is called upapajjavedanīyakamma: the post-life-karmic effect is the kamma that gives the result of rebirth (paṭisandhikāla) in the next life, and gives the result after having passed. rebirth (pavatti-kāla) present life (second life). Like the second fruit tree.
And the mind-faculty in the second to the sixth mind-action-moment is called aparāpariyavedanīya-kamma: life-life-karma is karma that has the opportunity for results from life after life, from the 3rd life to the last life become an Arahant, before the extinction of Nirvana, liberated from suffering, birth and death, samsara in the three worlds.
Although the kamma aparāpariyavedanīyakamma is no longer able to bear fruit in the next life-rebirth-period (paṭi- sandhikāla), it is still capable of bearing fruit in the period after the present-life rebirth (pavattikāla) .
Until the Arahant passes away Nirvana, liberates the sufferings of birth and death, birth and death in the three worlds, then, the new kamma aparāpariyavedanīyakamma becomes really ineffectual (ahosikamma), there is no chance for fruit any more.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.12/10/2021.
