Developing Right Understanding And Starving Defilements.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.
Right view
One who develops right view by seeing things in the light of impermanence, suffering, and non-self, will put an end to attachment and delusion. Non-attachment does not mean hate. To hate something that you had and liked before is only temporary hate, for the attachment will return to you.
We are not looking for a life of pleasure, but for peace. Peace lies within us, found in the same place as wavering and suffering. It is not possible to find peace in the depths of the forest or on the high hills. Nor can peace be bestowed by a supremely powerful teacher. Where you suffer, you can find a way out of suffering. It is better to try to run away from suffering, to see its cause and to end it now than to simply confront its results.
Starve troubles
People who are just starting to meditate often wonder what meditation is. Meditation is trying to face the defilements, not cultivating old habits. Where there is discord and difficulty, that is the place to meditate.
When picking mushrooms to eat, you don't have to touch any mushrooms you pick. It is important to understand which types are edible and which are poisonous. The same is true of meditation, we must know that the danger to be faced when meditating is defilements. Afflictions are like poisonous snakes, you must know it to avoid it.
Defilements — greed, hatred, delusion — lie at the root of suffering and selfishness. We have to learn how to tame them, overcome them and get rid of their control and control, in order to master our mind. Of course, this fight is tough. It's as difficult as leaving the best friend who has lived together since childhood.
Anger is like a cat. If we feed it, it will hang around us. Don't feed it, it won't bother anymore.
At the beginning of meditation, it is inevitable that heat and boredom can be avoided. But remember that there are only hot afflictions. Many people think, “I have never had such difficulty before. Something must have happened here?" This is not surprising, because in the past, when you nurtured defilements, you treated them gently, caressed them, pampered them. It's like someone who's injured inside but only applies medicine on the outside, so there's no feeling at all. Now, surgery to treat the root is certainly inevitable pain.
If you want to resist defilements, don't let them eat and sleep according to their will. Many people consider this to be excessive self-torture. But it is essential to have inner strength. You must be self-aware. Always watching the mind, you may think that you are only looking at the effect without knowing the cause. Suppose a parent has a child, growing up he does not know how to respect his parents. Parents are deeply saddened and wonder, “Where did this guy come from?” In fact, our suffering comes from misunderstanding, from attachment to mental activities. We have to train the mind like a buffalo. The buffalo is our thought, and the buffalo herder is the meditator. Raising a buffalo and training a buffalo is a practice of meditation. With a well-trained buffalo we can see the truth, we can understand the cause of our "self" and its end, the end of all sorrow. It's not complicated!
Everyone has defilements during meditation. We must understand them. Fight them when they appear. This is not a matter of thinking but a matter of practice. A lot of patience is required. Gradually we will change our habitual way of thinking and feeling. We will see how much suffering arises when we think of the words Me and Mine. Then we will no longer accept.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).BUDDHIST DHARMA WHEEL GOLDEN MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.12/9/2021.
