25. The Trap Sutra.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THE WOMEN OF THE SAKYA CLAN CHAN TANH. (Nivàpa sutta) Like this I hear. The Blessed One preached as follows: -- Monks, the hunter who snares the bait when he sows prey to the deer does not think: "I sow this bait for the herd of deer to eat so that the herd may live a long life, be more beautiful, and be nourished for a long time. than". Monks, the hunter who traps the bait while sowing the deer's prey thinks: "I sow this bait to the deer herd, so that this herd can invade, greedily eats the food. After entering, covetousness. eating food, they become delirious; by bewilderment, they become lax; by distraction they become willful things, among these things." Here, bhikkhus, the first herd of deer enters, indulges, and eats these preys sown by the hunter. They infiltrate, greedily eat the prey, so they become delirious. Due to confusion, they become distracted. Due to distraction, they become manipulative objects among these hunters' bait. So, bhikkhus, this first herd of deer does not escape the will of a hunter who traps prey. Here, bhikkhus, the second herd of deer thinks thus: "This first herd of deer invades, indulges, and eats these preys sown by the hunter. covetously, eating prey, become delirious. Out of delirium they become lecherous. Due to laxity, they become willed objects among these preys of the trap hunter. Thus, the first herd of deer does not escape as the hunter's will, so let's give up the bait altogether, give up the scary objects, go deep into the forest and take refuge. ". Thus, bhikkhus, this first recluse or brahmin cannot escape the will of the Evil One. I say, bhikkhus, that this first class of recluses and brahmins is like the first herd of deer in the parable. Here, bhikkhus, the second ascetic and brahmin thinks thus: "This first ascetic, brahmin has intruded, greedy for food. Sown by the Devil, and worldly things, here they infiltrate, lusting after food, and become delirious; out of confusion, they become lax; by being distracted, they become those who were subject to the will of the Evil One among these bait and among worldly things, thus, this first recluse, this Brahmin, did not escape from the will of the Evil One. , let us completely renounce worldly things and objects, abandon fearful objects, go deep into the forest and take refuge." Due to infiltration here, craving for food, they become delirious. Due to confusion, they become distracted. Due to distraction, they become subject to the will of the Evil One among these baits and among worldly things. Thus, bhikkhus, this second recluse, brahmin, did not escape like the will of the Evil One. I say, bhikkhus, that this second class of recluses and brahmins is like the second herd of deer in this parable. Here, bhikkhus, the third recluse and brahmin thinks thus: 'This first recluse, brahmin, intrudes, greedily, and eats the prey of evil. sown ghosts and worldly objects... (as above)... Thus, the first Sa-Mon, this Brahmin did not escape as the will of the Evil One. The second brahmin thought thus: "This first recluse, this brahmin, infiltrates, greedily devouring the detritus sown by the Evil One, and worldly things... (as above)... Here, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who is separated from sensual pleasures, separated from evil and unwholesome, attains and abides in the first jhāna, a state of bliss born of detachment from sensual pleasures, possessing the fourfold thought. This, bhikkhus, is called a bhikkhu blinding the demon's eyes, cutting off the demon's eyes, leaving no trace, so that the demon cannot see the way back. Again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu has ceased to seek and thought, and attains and abides in the second jhāna, a state of rapture and bliss born of concentration, free from thought, without thinking, with a single mind. Thus is called the Male-stilts blind the Devil's eyes, cut off the eyes of the Evil One, leaving no trace, so that the Evil One could not see the way back. Again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu is abiding by joy and equanimity, mindfully aware, and feeling in his body the pleasant feeling that the sages call equanimity, mindfulness and abiding, and the attainment and abiding of the third jhāna. Again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who transcends all bases of boundless space, thinks that 'Consciousness is boundless', attains and abides in the base of boundless Consciousness. Thus, called the Male-stilts... (as above)... the way back. Again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu who transcends all bases of boundless consciousness, thinks: 'There is not a thing', attains and abides in the base of nothingness. So called Male-stilts... (as above)... the way back. Again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu transcends all bases of nothingness, attains and abides in the base of neither perception nor non-perception. So called the Male-stilts... Again, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu, having transcended all bases of neither perception nor non-perception, attains and abides in the cessation of perception and feeling (concentration), and having seen (things) with wisdom, the taints or are eradicated.
