KARMA.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH. Today's lecture is about the law of Karma. Many people are not born into Buddhist families, but have learned about Buddhism by listening to the law of Karma; because the Law of Karma has explained to them the reasons for the disagreement of individuals in human society, and at the same time also explained to them why the very good people in this world are in pain. suffering. I know an Italian from Dai Loi. This person is very concerned about the issue of disagreement of individuals in society. He thinks about this issue a lot. He asked many people about this problem, but could not find a satisfactory answer. One day he read a book about Buddhism which mentioned the law of Karma. When he read about the Law of Karma, he was very satisfied with the explanations of the Law of Karma. He decided to learn more about Buddhism. He went to Asia to become a monk, and died at the age of eighty. The Law of Karma was the first driving force that made him a Buddhist monk. The lecture on Karma today is based on the Cūlakamma bhanga Sutta in the Central Sutra. This is a discourse given by the Buddha to the young Brahmin Subha. The young Brahmin Subha asked the Buddha: Why do some people die prematurely, some live long? Why are there people who are often sick, there are people who are healthy? Why are there ugly people, there are beautiful people? Why are there such aunts, there are powerful people Why are there poor, poor, and affluent? Why is someone born into a lowly, inferior family, into a poor family, someone from a noble family, into a high class family? Why are there ignorant people (people who lack wisdom), there are intelligent people? The Buddha answered Subha succinctly about the above fourteen classes of people. Buddha said: “Hey young man. Beings have karma as their property. Sentient beings are heirs of their karma. Sentient beings are derived from their karma. Beings born out of their own Karma or sentient beings are relatives of the Karma that they have created. Sentient beings have karma as their refuge. ḌKarma where there is a difference between sentient beings or Karma has made the difference between sentient beings, Karma has made the difference between people and people " The Buddha answered Subha in such a concise manner. Subha told the Buddha that he did not understand the Buddha's brief explanations. Subha says: “White Sir, I don't understand Your short explanations. Please explain widely and in more detail ”. The Buddha then explained to Subha in more details. The reason the Buddha answered Subha so succinctly because he knew that: Subha is a person full of pride. Subha thinks: I am an intelligent person who can understand all that the Buddha taught even though those are short words. The Buddha wanted to reduce Subha's arrogant mind so that Subha could humbly listen to his explanations, so the Buddha answered briefly. When Subha asked the Buddha for detailed explanations, the Buddha gave him detailed explanations. Although these questions are asked by Subha, these are questions that are often asked by people and want to be answered, because they have encountered these problems in human life. There are people who are born into the same family, have the same father and mother, are brought up under the same circumstances and conditions, but are different; there are intelligent people, there are stupid people; Some people live a long life, some die early, the rich, the poor, etc. These are the questions that people often ask and want to be answered satisfactorily. If you ask these questions to someone who believes in God, in God, or in the Creator, you will be answered: "Because of God, God created that." This answer certainly does not satisfy you. There will be more questions that follow when you hear such answers. Only the Buddha's answers are satisfying because the Buddha's answers were not unreasonable. The Buddha answered each question of the young Subha. Although born to the same parents, raised in the same circumstances and conditions, we cannot use these conditions and circumstances as the cause of their disagreement. since they have the same father, the same mother should say inheritance is the cause. Both are raised under the same conditions and circumstances but they are different. Thus, the reason for differences among people in the same family must be something beyond genetics, and circumstances. The Buddha shows us clearly: Something in the past has made us, and our lives, different. The Buddha explained to Subha each question one by one: 1. Why do some people die prematurely, some live long? “Some people kill other living beings, not just once, but many times they kill sentient beings. As a result of this killing, they reincarnated into the four evil paths. They were reborn in the scene of Animal Biology, Ngoi Dem, A Tu La, and Di Nguc. After being in these miserable situations, if they are reborn as a human in the present life, they will die prematurely (short life). Because they have killed sentient beings, it means that they have the intention to shorten the lives of sentient beings, to end the lives of sentient beings sooner, to shorten the lifespan of sentient beings. Instead of sentient beings living longer, they cause sentient beings to die prematurely. Due to the desire to shorten the life of living beings, they receive the consequence that their lives are also shortened or premature death. There are people who never kill sentient beings. They keep the world of killing. They prevent the killing of sentient beings. These people will be reborn in heaven after death. When they are reborn as human beings they will have a long life. The early dead are those who have killed sentient beings in previous lives. And the people of longevity are those who keep the precepts from killing in previous lives. When they prevent the act of killing sentient beings, their minds have a desire for sentient beings to live long. The longing for sentient beings is the reason why they can live a long life when they are reborn as human beings. 2. Why do some people often get sick, some people are in good health? There are people who get sick often, disease after illness, or their health is always poor. These people, according to the Buddha's teachings, are the ones who have injured other living beings. They do not kill people or other living beings, but they torture and beat others, other living beings, suffering, hurting the bodies of other beings. Due to their cruel actions, torture, beating, harming sentient beings, and injuring sentient beings, they are reborn into the four evil paths. When they were reincarnated as humans, they were always sick, disabled, and in poor health. There are people with strong and healthy bodies. Some people never get sick, never see a doctor, never go to the hospital, never take a single pill. They have a healthy body. Why so? In this life, they have a healthy body, because in past lives they never tortured others, did not injure others, or harm others' bodies. They had compassion for other beings. Due to their acts of kindness, when they are reborn they will have full health. 3. Why are some people with ugly and unsightly eyebrows, others are beautiful and easy to see. Some people are often angry. People only criticized a little bit that they got angry. With such anger and anger in nature, they must be reborn into the four evil paths. When they are reborn as humans, due to the angry Karma they have created, their faces become ugly. Thus, anger, anger and ignorance are the causes of ugliness. We can easily understand this. Even when we are living in this present life, when we get angry, our eyebrows are ugly; When you are angry, your face is fierce and scary. If we want to know how ugly when we are angry, look in the mirror every time we get angry, then will we see us ugly? Beautiful people are by nature not to be angry. They are people who always treat others well, and they don't get angry easily. Therefore, if you want to be beautiful even in this life, don't be angry. One of the reasons for your beautiful face is trying to meditate in loving kindness. Thus, the cause of ugliness is anger, and the cause of beauty is not anger, compassion. This shows us that: If we want to be beautiful, if we want our face to be cheerful and cute, we should never be angry. 4.Why are there so many people, there are powerful people. Sometimes you meet powerful people, their words are powerful, and they influence others, make others obey, follow them. There are also people who have no authority, who have no authority to do anything. There are many people, although they have great positions, high positions, have lots of money, but they say that nobody listens. Why? There are people with high authority and dignity but who do not respect others, do not affect others because in their previous lives they were envious or jealous. Seeing anyone who benefits, gets fame, respect and respect from others, they feel uncomfortable and jealous. Someone who is jealous, jealous, jealous when he sees other people benefit, be honored, etc ... then surely that person will be her, with no authority or ability to influence others in the future hybrid. Authorities are obeyed by everyone in this life who are not envious of the successes, profits, respect, or respect of others. Jealousy is the reason that in this life we become people who have no authority, no influence over others. On the contrary, without envy, 5. Why are there poor, poor, and wealthy people? The poor people in this life are those who in previous lives did not know how to give alms and give food, clothes, and other things to Sammen, Brahmins and others. They are people who do not practice almsgiving. The rich people in this life were those who practiced almsgiving in previous lives. They gave alms and offered food, drinks, clothes, medicine, and other things to people. The practice of almsgiving is the cause of wealth, and not practicing almsgiving or stinginess is the cause of poverty. Thus, stingy, stingy, not daring to give anything is the cause of poverty. 6. Why is someone born into a lowly, inferior family, into a poor family, someone from a noble family, into a high class family? People born into inferior families, paralyzed because of their previous lives, are proud, self-centered, arrogant, and presumptuous. They do not respect all the respectable ones. They don't get up, show respect for those who deserve to be up, worthy of respect. They do not know how to give seats to those who deserve to be given seats. They do not give way to those who deserve to give way. They are not respectful, polite towards those who are worthy of respect, politeness. Failure to respect, humility is the cause of the rebirth in the lower class. The reason for being born into a noble and high class family is the opposite reason. These people in previous lives were not proud, self-important, or egotistical. They often worship those who are respectful. They stood up, showing respect for those who deserved to stand up, showing respect. They know how to give seats to those who deserve to be seated. They give way to those who deserve to give way. They are respectful and polite towards those who are worthy of respect and dignity. In a nutshell, pride is the cause of the growth in a lowly family, and lack of pride and respect is the cause of being born in a noble family. 7. Why are there ignorant people, lack of intelligence, and some intelligent people ? The cause of lack of wisdom, ignorance, dullness, and the cause of intelligence, lucid intelligence is knowing to question or not to question. Those who are not close to intellectuals to learn. Refusing to ask questions about what is good, what is evil, what should be done, what should not be done, etc. Those who refuse to learn, ask questions will be reborn as people who are slow to flood. , lack of wisdom or easy to become dumb. Those who are always searching, learning, and knowing what a good deed is, what an evil deed is, what is appropriate and what is not, what should be done and what should not be done. Those people are reborn as intelligent, wise people. Thus, asking questions, learning the dhamma is the cause of intellectual intelligence, not asking questions, is the cause of poor wisdom. So, now that you know, what the cause, what results from the practice? Killing sentient beings leads to premature death or short life. Practice Non-killing will lead to longevity. As such, there are two options: If you want to live long then don't kill other living beings. If you don't need to live long; think: it doesn't matter whether to live long or die early, don't keep this precepts. If you want to be healthy in the future, don't beat or hurt others. If you want to be beautiful, don't get angry. If you want authority, influence over others and be respected by others, don't be jealous or envious. If you want to be rich, give alms. If you want to grow up in a noble and noble family, you must be humble, not proud, and self-centered. If you want intelligence, intelligence then ask questions. Those are the reasons that created the disparity, disagreement between one person and another. The Buddha answered a question posed by the young Subha and at the end of the lecture, the Buddha once again taught: All sentient beings have Karma as their inheritance. They are the heirs of the Karma they have created. It is Karma that makes one person different from the other. Thus, the Buddha replied to the young Shuba that: All human disagreement is not caused by God, God, Holy Spirit or anything. Due to Karma or acts created by the body, speech and mind of each person, they will receive different results. Due to their own Karma in the past, they live long or prematurely, rich or poor, intelligent or ignorant. It was Karma that created disagreement in this present life. And what is karma that causes the disagreement of sentient beings? Kamma is often translated as action. In fact, the exact meaning of Karma is the "willful" mental state (Cetana) - the intention is a mental state or an element - it means that the intention or intention to do something through body, speech, or mind. . Karma is the intention to do something. Due to this "will", people perform actions, words or thoughts. Because every action, word or thought is accompanied by "will" or karma. Therefore, the word Kamma or Karma should be translated as "willful", not as action. We must be careful about the meaning of the word Karma, otherwise when it comes to Karma, we think it is action. If we want to use the word correctly then we have to say Karma is intentional . Thus, Karma or intention is a mental state that arises in our mental types. Because, as a mental state, it has the characteristic: "arises and then falls away immediately". The characteristic of arising and passing away is a common characteristic of all things in the world. Everything in the world is impermanent. All things have the characteristic of arising and passing away, coming and going. Intentional mental states arise and pass away like other mental states. But one thing to note here is: other mental states arise and then perish immediately and leave no effect at all. But the willful mind-set when it ceases still has the potential to bring about later consequences. The potentiality of this karma lies in the 'flow of existence' (the life-stream) of the Mind. That is why when there are favorable conditions, Karma bears fruit.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.10/5/2021.
