The concept of Buddha.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN =THICH CHAN TANH.
The Buddha was a human being like many others, he ordained as a monk and enlightened, he went to lecture until the age of 80, he entered Nirvana. That was Shakyamuni Buddha according to recorded history.
Praise the Buddha like?
But if we take a step beyond history to look at the Buddha called the concept of Buddha, there are many different tendencies to think of Buddha.
1. How the pagans think about the Buddha.
2. Theravada Buddhism thought about Buddha.
3. How Mahayana Buddhism thinks about the Buddha.
4. Vajrayana Buddhism thinks about Buddha.
First of all, we find out how the pagans think about the Buddha and the Buddha for the outside, so that we can learn from the experience of teaching the Dharma.
Of course the pagans look to the Buddha as their opposite. So, on the path of the Buddha's mission, he always met with resistance. Today, we do the work of propagating the Dharma must also see this clearly.
It can be said that the Buddha was opposed to the pagan religion, because they mainly built the divine world which was polytheism and monotheism. This is the concept of mankind, or human civilization in ancient times. Faced with the phenomena of heaven and earth that people cannot explain, they sanctified natural phenomena.
Indeed, humans at that time assumed that they were surrounded by gods and deities who governed mankind, wielding the power to kill all species. Obviously, the existence of the gods is thought and made by humans, for example they worship Pham Thien as the creator of man and all species, human destiny is in his hands; Besides, there are countless gods such as god of earth, mountain god, god of thunder, god of rain, god of wind ... People are completely helpless before the power of invisible gods, so they worship and worship God. Linh. That is the cause of the birth of religions, which we often say that there were 16, or 94 non-Buddhists, existed during the Buddha's time on earth.
And when the Buddha gave the sermon, we also saw an opposition to paganism, because Buddha found that the concept of divine cult was not correct, which today we call superstition. Therefore, the Buddha's sermon still criticizes the wrongdoing of paganism and he corrects it to put into reality the right and appropriate life. Because Buddha's stance is aimed at the interests of gods and humans, that man is the main.
Superstitions did not help people to sublimate, so Buddha corrected, of course, Buddha had to attain the highest wisdom which means what man knows, Buddha knows and what humans do not know, Buddha also knows. The Buddha's propaganda of the benefit of life clearly demonstrates this feature, what the pagans know is their sutras, the Buddha also knows and moreover, Buddha also knows their standoffs and he prophesied that they are correcting. their mistakes. Why three brothers Ca Lettuce with 1,000 objects, as well as Xa Loi Phat and Muc Lien Lien followed Buddha Because they are stuck in thought, in the practice, so their cultivation has not achieved results.
The Buddha's wisdom clears the deadlock for them, so they look brighter, and cultivate more peacefully. That is the most important point of propagating the dharma of beneficial birth. Today, studying this Buddha, in order to remove deadlock and relieve suffering for people, we must have a vision of following Buddha.
Buddha saw how paganism was. For people who take advantage of religion, take advantage of superstitious people, we put aside. But true cultivators want to find the truth, but the more they learn, the more they are bound to cultivate. The Medicine Master Says this idea that people are bound by heresy, the Medicine Buddha instructs them to escape the path of delusion, attaining the Supreme Bodhi.
They want to cultivate but are presented by a cult of all kinds that cost them effort, money, but nothing. Until the practice of the Buddha's teachings was effective, they left the pagan religion, following the Buddha. The Buddha saved those who had fallen into a pagan religion, but the pagan religion was discontented and resentful. Because they lost their rights, they destroyed and killed the Buddha. But Buddha has the wisdom to know who the enemy is resentful, wants to kill, wants to cause difficulties and Buddha also knows how to remove and nullify their resistance.
The greatness of the teacher is unique in life
If the brothers propagate the Dharma later, if they have not found a way to neutralize their resistance, they should be avoided, it is called the vow of peace according to the Dharma Flower Sutra. My personal life as a teacher has also encountered similar situations. Someone who failed her heresy came to tell me that you accidentally believed in your friend. Because the pagans want to take advantage of the rich, so they can seduce them. The person being lured is not that they believe, but follow the friend to a place where Maitreya statue is worshiped. Because a Buddhist, seeing a Buddha statue, we believe and worship Buddha. The teacher read the sutra, but this lady said she did not know what it was. At the end of the ceremony, the friend said that the teacher had taken refuge in her and had caused trouble to heaven, she became a follower of them. . I asked her to send a messenger for me to neutralize. I burned everything in front of the Guan Yin statue and told her to take care of the practice, Five lightning does not hit. We save people, we will get enemies to solve this problem You should be careful, you don't have enough power, you should avoid it.
Back to the first thing that Buddha enlightened the five brothers Kieu Tran Nhu, because this year he practiced at a standstill, practicing asceticism without a way and getting older and older, but the practice does not have any results, it must be miserable. Buddha enlightened them, Buddha first taught the Four Noble Truths, or practiced the Four Foundations of Mindfulness to be immediately liberated. They listen to the Buddha's teachings, just contemplate the impure body, contemplate the feeling of suffering, contemplate impermanence, and contemplate the dharma of no-self are to feel a light and peaceful life. Later, the Buddha expanded to 37 Supporting dignitaries, but the liberation basis of the five brothers Kiều Trần Như was the achievement of selfless dharma. The essence of Theravada Buddhism also practices the Dharma of anatta.
I have a friend Nam Tong ordained for 40 years who has remained in the non-self dharma of the four foundations of mindfulness. This person said he was born without meeting Buddha. Before Buddha Nirvana, Ananda told the Buddha which method we must follow to cultivate. Buddha taught to practice the four foundations of mindfulness, Nirvana. So today, this person still has to practice this method.
In my opinion, the Buddha used this method to enlighten five Kieu Tran Nhu brothers, but I was stubborn, using this dharma to "hold" means that being stuck with this dharma practice for decades without any results. , while the Buddha's teaching is the means to open the deadlock, but I accept it. The body is impure, the mindfulness is suffering, so there is no attachment to the impermanent perception, so it is no longer attached to what others promise ... The Buddha's teachings on the right of the right, right person, so the mind of the five brothers Kieu Tran Nhu is safe. being lost, not being entangled with things around, is called being liberated.
In addition, the four foundations of mindfulness also help us not to get stuck with emotions. The root of liberation according to Buddhism is education, elimination of love, and divorce. Achieving these three is liberation. Desires are many, but in aggregate there are five main things, called the five senses: gluttony, lust, desire for fame, desire, desire for wealth. Whether at home or renunciation does not desire to attain liberation. I practiced this practice as a child. I see clearly what I want is not allowed, what I fear will come. Realizing that, I do not want and say death is the same, love to give life, not afraid to do some things.
4 events before the Buddha's enlightenment
The first, the part of lust and the next part is the suppression of the inner love. We are separatists, but can we actually get a cup? If related to our family and worldly thoughts we still have, then the family is ordained but the mind has not yet entered the religion, that is dangerous. so when he died, people cried. He sat up and told him not to cry, then closed his eyes to death. He showed the perfect layperson type as: "The talented people, the family members, the Buddhist false houses." In China, there is Mr. Bang Cong Uan.
If we can cut it off, we become Hien, not dominated by emotions, we encounter sad, scary things, but we are not angry or afraid, because we know it is like that, or as visceral. Typically, Mrs. Thang Man was making offerings to the Buddha and the Sangha, when she heard the news that her husband and children had been killed, she remained calm, because she thought that they had run out of numbers, they had to die, if they were crying, they too. cannot live again. And what to do if you are meeting Buddha.
Elimination is achieved, attaining Hien, according to the Theravada, the attainment of three results Tu-da-complete, Tu-da-function and A-na-function, that is, they have been able to pass the view or, from or to.
And divorce, attained A-la-Han. If not clever, the cup of love becomes stone wood. Divorce is not as emotionless as a robot and becomes a villain. This point is the most important dharma of the Buddha. He is not stuck with small love for his family, but the love of the Buddha becomes immense, to all beings called Bodhi mind generation. So, attained La-Han does not stay in Nirvana, but must generate Bodhi mind. We ourselves are liberated, but coming here to think of the four aspirations, so that our love becomes immense, wanting to save sentient beings is the Bodhisattva practice. The Dhamma Sutra affirms that no one becomes a La-Han who does not generate Bodhicitta.
The Buddha proclaimed that the five brothers Kieu Tran Nhu came to the highest point to have achieved the three methods: the passage of sex, elimination of love, and divorce, each one goes one way to propagate the Dharma.
Today, if you have not divorced your sex yet but propagate the dharma, encounter temptation, and if you arise, you will meet disaster immediately. On the path of cultivation should be careful about this.
The Buddha had the wisdom of determining this intention clearly. He told the five brothers Kieu Tran Nhu should sit quietly and contemplate the four foundations of mindfulness to maturity. Eating and drinking is to take care of Him.
Following the Buddha, I take care of the brothers and sisters who have a boarding place, study properly and also ask for meals and water for their full health, they just try to study for their success. While in the past, monks and nuns were out of town, where the brothers and sisters had to earn their own food and money to study. At first I said just rice. Rice is donated a lot to Pho Quang pagoda and can be brought back to school for the brothers to use. Later, the Buddhists exchanged mold rice for delicious rice for our school, thus spiritual practice was blessed.
The model of the Buddha raising them to study into Hien Thanh was formed in Loc Uyen, but after completing their studies, each person goes one direction to educate sentient beings, that is, they have wisdom, have bravery, know who should avoid, who should come to clear the deadlock.
As for the Buddha, the Buddha practiced, but after the Buddha entered Nirvana, there was a conception of the Buddha. First, without Buddha, it is based on the four foundations of mindfulness, then called the Four Noble Truths.
Second, we follow the precepts, take the precepts as teachers. However, this should be understood correctly, because if he enters the precepts and is persistent, we will be bound, not liberated.
Depend on the Buddha's precepts, the 250 monastic precepts that we keep will become the postures of Bhikkhus, so 250 human precepts give 4 postures into 1,000 postures. Keeping the precepts like that is to train us to become imposing virtuous people. Thus, we practice from walking, standing, sitting, eating, talking, that is, the precepts to train our gestures and actions to be in accordance with the cultivator's nature called posture. And 1,000 postures combined with three karmic actions, body, speech, and mind, means there are 3,000 postures.
A monk must practice 3,000 postures to be ordained. In fact, many people take the precepts but do not stay with the teacher, being born early is too spoiled.
Therefore, it is necessary to enter the precepts to practice 3,000 postures; not let go of precepts. But those who persistently embrace the law to recite the rules, watch out for falling ill with precepts and do not sublimate their wisdom, which is contrary to the Buddha's teaching.
Indeed, the Buddha teaches us to depend on the four foundations of mindfulness and precepts, but to depend on it to advance to the Sage of the Path. This idea Buddha often likened to crossing the river need boats; ashore of course, you don't need boats and you can carry boats with you ...
The precepts help us to be safe in spiritual practice, but to be safe, to be at peace so that we can develop wisdom, cultivate enlightenment, and become holy. Not to be at peace and then attached to it to enjoy, not to progress to higher cultivation.
Therefore, after the Buddha entered Nirvana, the practitioner considered the dharma as the Dharmakaya Dharma, called the Dharmakaya Dharma, which is the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, extended as the Four Noble Truths. Take this as a Buddha. So to say that the Dharma is also considered as Buddha is to take the Dhamma as a Buddha. Realizing that, people worship the Dharma, respect the Dharma, so we pray each sentence, word for word, and think of doing so is blessed.
After this, practice, wisdom opens it to another. Typically, the Tri Pundit agent explains that the Buddha Dharma consists of the means and the true dharma. At first, we rely on the means, but when we attain the enlightenment, we will prove the true dharma. In fact, through the meticulous experience of means such as prostrating each verse, wisdom brightens, helps us to see differently.
True Dharma, lyricism, lyricism and centrifugal love. Explaining this idea, Tri Jia said that on the way to practice, to give up the Dharma script, the previous letter's pattern was the lyric script. And ly script, ly discourse, the centrifuge is predestined, new witnesses the true dharma, which He called the non-true scriptures.
The Buddha's enlightenment has dispelled the darkness of human ignorance
Padmasambhava of Tibetan Buddhism reduced the spirit of Dharma into a mantra, Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum. And to deeply understand this sentence is to reach the centrifugation of dependent conditions and our mind will light up, that is the jewel located in the lotus flower. Our body is a lotus because we have disrespected, de-love, and our mind is the jewel, that is, the truth, or that is non-true. To make it easy to understand, our mind has been lit up, seeing things as true, at that time we can maintain the sutras.
Initially cultivating means, but wisdom opens according to the Mahayana, finally let go of it, living with a pure mind, clear, overcoming all obstacles. Study Buddhism is this learning.
And witnessing the Dharmakaya Dharma, looking at the Buddha, we see differently, because we do not follow the four elements of the Buddha anymore, but according to the Buddha's wisdom, follow the Buddha's actions. The Buddha is different from everyone else, he is the Supreme Chief of Right Enlightenment, because all his actions, ie the Buddha's three karma, body, speech, and mind, are directed by wisdom. Realizing that, Mahayana Buddhism sees Buddha as seeing his words, seeing his actions, looking at his actions, looking at his wisdom so that we can develop our wisdom, and correct our three karmas, body, speech, and mind according to Buddha. is tu, not blind cultivation.
Thus, according to the Mahayana conception, there is the Buddha's Sambhogakaya which is Buddha's thought and action. And combining this thought with Theravada Buddhism, the Buddha had Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Sambhogakaya.
For the Buddha-body reincarnation, the concept of Mahayana and Theravada is the same.
Sambhogakaya is a Mahayana Buddhist concept.
Dharmakaya Buddha is the concept of Theravada Buddhism.
And combining Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya and Sambhogakaya, the cultivators will find that the Dharmakaya Buddha not only exists in the Buddha's teaching, but the Buddha Dharmakaya has transformed into the truth. Based on where to say so.
The Buddha once determined that what he said was like leaves in his hand, what he attained and showed benefits in life for gods and humans like leaves in the forest. Indeed, the Dharmakaya Buddha has clearly become the life of mankind across the five continents and four seas. This even miraculous logic is described by the Dharma Flower Sutra that Buddha penetrates the eternal Dharma body of immortality. This means that as long as there are sentient beings, the Buddha's teaching of birth will still have an effective impact on all species.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.4/4/2021.
