Meaning of prayers.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
The ceremony of praying for peace is a Vietnamese tradition starting from the first day of the Lunar New Year, which lasts throughout January, Buddhists often go on pilgrimages to celebrate. However, in order for the peace ceremony to be properly expressed and brought about well, Buddhists need to consider doing this.
Personally, I have some experiences of doing the New Year's peace ceremony to find peace for myself and influence that peace for those who are destined to be. I want to share these achievements with the assembly so that we all can perform together and achieve complete peace in life in accordance with the Dharma.
The first thing of the beginning of the new year, we celebrate Xuan Maitreya, focus our attention to pray to Bodhisattva Maitreya as the future Buddha who has not yet been born in this life. According to the Dharma Flower Sutra , Buddha Shakyamuni introduced to us the Bodhisattva Maitreya who issued the Bodhisattva mind from the time of Buddha Nhut Nguyet Dang Minh and from there stretching his spiritual path like a thread. Only through life after life, Bodhisattva Maitreya has completed the Bodhisattva, so in his mind is always peaceful. All sentient beings in Ta-Ba should think of Maitreya Bodhisattva, admire Maitreya Bodhisattva and create a spiritual relationship with Maitreya Bodhisattva to receive His sharing. our mind is happy; because Maitreya Bodhisattva has full of great compassion undergoing a long process of Bodhisattva practice. This is very important, we need to think.
The practice of Bodhisattva is mainly the practice of six Dharma Ba-la-bile, or the practice of ten Dharma Ba-la-secrets according to the Chinese experience . Practicing the six Brahmin teachings is generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation and wisdom and accomplishing these six dharma s is the completion of the Bodhisattva's virtue according to the Prajñā sutras. from Theravada sutras to Mahayana sutras.
The door of Prajñā is only open to practitioners who have completed the full 37 Servants; In other words, the practitioner attained the Arahantship, or the Pratyekabuddha of the Buddha, the new Bat-elegant door opens for them to enter to perform the six Brahmin teachings. Therefore, we study the Mahayana Sutta, but do not go through the Primitive stage, but practice the six Brahmanas will bear the opposite results, the more we cultivate, suffering.
For practitioners of Dharma, taking the Noble Eightfold Path is the culmination of 37 Theravada Buddhist Assistant as the standard for practice. The most important thing is to keep our body, speech, and mind completely pure; otherwise, Prajna's door cannot be opened.
Indeed, if our body karma is too heavy, our negative karma has not been purified, and reborn in this life will bring sick, ugly, dirty, poor body ..., how can we live peacefully. Therefore, the negative karma of the body, naturally we have a relatively healthy body, easy to see. We see that the Zen masters, the Arahants do not eat or drink much, but have stamina, healthy bodies, and can engage in the Bodhisattva practice.
After being the negative karma of the body, we do not depend on the three things of the body: eating, dressing and living. Maintain this peaceful and liberating life, by practicing whatever you eat, living simply is done.
I used to go through a period of hardship and lack of food, but the feeling of not having to eat was not dominated by food. One who does not need to eat, but has food and one who does not need to eat but does not have food, both of these persons are equally liberated. Having food or without food, we don't matter, is the karmic episode of the body; so other people or society can not attach themselves.
Next is the choreography of the mouth is also easy, but many people do not try. There are practitioners in the ashram, no one wants to hear them speak, but they like to speak, making others uncomfortable. In my own experience, do not say, certainly do not make mistakes. The late Venerable Hue Hung, whom I respect, for three years he did not speak, until he started to speak again, was told a lie, so he did not want to speak. Who needs to teach, he says.
In the karma there are lies, cruel words, embroideries, and stabbing words. More errors, less mistakes, no mistakes; Therefore, we are not saying that the fault of our mouth can not arise, do not interfere with our practice.
Third is that karma plays an important role. In the mind, we must wipe out the unconscious thoughts that are unnecessary in order for our subconscious to be white, so that we are peaceful. The reason we often suffer, is because there are so many facts in our hearts that we are not satisfied; bring into your heart the things you hate, sadness, anger, resentment, how to be peaceful. Therefore, cultivating the karma, we pray for our subconscious to be pure white, by removing all the evils that we have seen and heard through our daily relationships with life, or all evil and evil things arise in their own mind.
At the beginning of the year, praying for peace to the spring festival is to create a relationship between me with my ancestors, between me and the spiritual world, specifically through the gods who are mainly national heroes. From generation to generation respect and worship. We picture them present in our world, continuing to protect us, making our minds feel at peace too. It is the peace that initially connects the spirit world and our real life.
Going further, we must recite the Mahayana scriptures to pray for peace and karma for ourselves. Once I went to ask Venerable Tri Tinh, who also suggested this. At the age of 80, his eyes could not see anything, but by reciting the Mahayana sutras, every day he recited the sutras without looking at the book and he felt at peace, the time of the Venerable Master's illness was dissolved. Bright eyes back to 90 years old.
Chanting Mahayana Sutra to award karma and a peaceful life is to fulfill the meaning of praying for peace. And going deep into the Mahayana sutras, we see the Buddha introducing the behavior of the Buddhas, the Bodhisattvas; we read and feel their noble work on the path of enlightenment, making our mind peaceful.
Especially in the Mahayana sutras, the Buddha often advises us to follow the conduct of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. For example, Bodhisattva Guan Yin pronounces 12 great vows to save sentient beings. It is the 12 great aspirations that associate Bodhisattva Quan Yin with sentient beings in Ta-Ba, whoever suits any vows, depending on which practice will be peaceful.
In early spring, we go to the Perfume pagoda, leave the mortal scene and find the pure mountain scene with deep belief that there is Quan Yin. Every step we take, we turn our attention to the Bodhisattva Guanyin so that our mind can receive His compassionate mind, He will save us from accidents as His wishes. When our mind understands the mind of Bodhisattva Guanyin, we certainly feel peaceful.
And pilgrimage festivals but the outside scene is noisy like a market and pilgrims seeking material pleasures, eating and playing, can not receive the blessings of the Bodhisattva, life is not safe. lost.
Personally, at extremely dangerous stages, I often conceive of Guan Yin and feel the power of the Bodhisattva that my heart feels peaceful and the real situation is transformed into real peace. the.
Or early in January, the temple usually organized chanting page layout Du belch c Master to pray for peace. Speaking of which, I remember the case of Ngoc Lam Quoc, from his past life, that Mr. Tăng was so ugly that others could not look. Lingyin Temple monk advised him to chant Du belch c Master , for the Healing Buddha found 12 prayers, including prayers 6th corresponds to his situation: "I pray life after watching Supreme Beef problem, if there is a sentiment of vile body, not enough six faculties, ugly and stupid, deaf and blind, speechless, disabled limbs, crazy lethargy, suffering many suffering; hearing My name, immediately recovered, righteous body, wise wisdom ”.
Thanks to the economic life Excess belching c Master that in future lives being, he is very intelligent and have excellent minister, king room Thuan Tri Nations he made his major professor and the most meritorious contribution in building the Qing Dynasty.
Chanting the prayers for peace, it is important to appreciate the virtues of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas mentioned in the Mahayana scriptures and to endeavor to practice their conduct in everyday life, to be sure of themselves. We are peaceful but also affect our family members and friends to be peaceful along.
In addition, on pilgrimage to pray for peace, we also find the highest point, Linh Son. Practicing this dharma, I sincerely do the poem:
Decision pleased to find e ế n Linh Son
Ca u please lettered Ph ailings hiệ n Friendly e o e ời.
Because we make up our mind to get to the destination, we cut out what we don't like; In other words, setting the world aside to find out about Linh Son as our true spirit, or we find intellectual friends who only live with true spirit.
Man has three parts including material and two parts spirit, namely consciousness and spirituality. People who live by hope, know a lot, talk a lot, but life is always painful. People who cut their hopes, do not care about life, often live with the truth, so they see the truth of life, not being dominated by life.
For peace, we find our own true spirit, or we look to someone present in mortality who has a true spiritual life, and we receive peace. I come into contact with people with a high spiritual life, not material dependent, feeling light and peaceful in my heart. Buddhists, if they have the opportunity to get close to people with a peaceful heart, will find that they don't ask them to do anything for them, but only share their happiness, how can we not be safe.
It can be said that praying for peace is to find good knowledge to have a peaceful life so that they can share their peace. This is clearly shown in the life of the Buddha's birth education. When the Buddha was on earth, rich people like Mr. Cap Lonely and even kings like Qin Ba Sa La, A Xa The, Persia Nac came to Buddha. Buddha has nothing more than them. The Buddha gave up all material careers, just the first and barefoot, but they turned to Buddha; because after the days of working in material careers, they took from suffering after suffering, only when they were close to Buddha did they realize the miraculous peace that shone in him.

Today, our temples pray for peace to return to the Buddha, the eternal Buddha immortal in Tich Quang and the Buddha within ourselves.
After the Buddha Nirvana, there were Zen masters, high monks, and national masters who appeared here and there. Particularly in Vietnam, there is Master Ngo Chan Luu whom Dinh Tien Hoang often visits, or King Ly Thai To often goes to Zen Master Van Hanh, King Tran Thai Tong visits Dai Dang Quoc su. These cultivators live with "an external body", that is, a free life, not dominated by the five elements, without being dependent on the three realms. Those who are predestined to see them, close to them, and instruct them by them, feel great bliss, elevate their virtuous life.
I think that the Buddha and the Patriarchs show such a peaceful life, if we follow their path, surely we will be well. Do not follow the path of Buddha, of the Patriarch, and then say that my body is not safe, how to pray for others to be safe! This is also true.
Buddhists pray for security, it is not true that the teacher reads his name. An or not is due to the teacher's morality. Seeing that he is safe, because his mind is safe, we go to ask him to share that peace with us.
As said, the powerful people, the elders come to the Buddha, to the Zen masters, because their minds are completely at peace, free from the harm of the three realms, can lead them into the spiritual world. heal. History has proven this, in the past, King Tran Thai Tong was forced by Tran Thu Do to commit immorality, he just escaped to Yen Tu mountain to find Phu Van to pray for peace (later Dai Dang Quoc su). King Tran Thai Tong's overly miserable soul met the cloud-like serenity of Zen master Dai Dang that all the sorrows and suffering of the monarch heavy in his heart suddenly dissipated. The Zen master Dai Dang analyzed that the king showed that the life of the king and those related to the king both externally and mentally inside, all mixed chaotic like a tangled silk scroll. And he gently removed the king's confusion, helping the king's mind to flash, Seeing a peaceful life for himself, for both courtiers and for this country. Because of that kindness, King Tran Thai Tong conferred Phu Van the name Dai Dang Quoc su, a large lamp illuminating the king's heart.

It means that the wind blows the pine trees and the moonlight shines the temple courtyard, the scenery at the temple is so poetic, plus the confidences between the king and the Zen master is really the first mind, creating a very noble thing. that the outsider cannot know. In other words, King Tran Thai Tong felt the radiant bliss in Zen Master Dai Dang, a true enlightened practitioner who did not ripple fame and suffering. And it was Dai Dang's peace that passed to the king's soul, making him stay up all night full of joy with him, without needing sleep.
Listening to the teachings of Zen Master Dai Dang, King Tran Thai Tong returned to the court; Before leaving, the king touched two very touching verses, expressing the deep love of teachers and students:
Both m e memories from bi e To thousand lifetimes curse to close
E o i t thank ế e in itself rather she crushed all u e ắng spicy.
King Tran Thai Tong expressed his gratitude and gratitude to the teacher that he thanked Dai Dang for his compassion and compassion, so he will be born forever and ever to meet him as his teacher so that he can ask him to be his teacher and live according to his teachings. Even if we have to crush all bodies, we also accept it. Thanks to the enlightenment of the Zen master Dai Dang, King Tran Thai Tong found peace and he became a smart man who did great things for the country; in particular, the king has compiled a book of Zen books that comprise the gnostic poems of Zen masters.
In short, praying for peace is to find good knowledge existing in life that opens up your wisdom to dispel suffering and have peace of mind, in daily life. However, if we do not meet good knowledge in life, we find good knowledge in books, in the scriptures.
Reciting the Mahayana scriptures, the Buddha introduces us to the image of the Buddhas, the Bodhisattvas and their behavior that we put our faith in them, focus our full attention on them. Thinking of Their works and following Their teachings, we will surely be at peace in their blessings.
Personally, I always receive peace of mind in reciting the Mahayana scriptures, depending on which, finding good knowledge to remove all the obstacles on my way of practice, helps me to always firmly believe in spiritual progress.
I hope that each person will find good knowledge to free all suffering and suffering and receive a weak part of the Buddha's teaching for eternal and eternal life to live happily in the Dharma.END=NAM MO HAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.11/2/2021.
