VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
Humanity today is facing too many painful problems in society, including corruption, drugs, prostitution, education, family ... These boils are constantly spreading, contagious, metamorphosis. unpredictable without regard to race, border, or religion. The pure life of Buddhism, as a matter of course, has been secularized in a serious way that has a significant impact on people's beliefs. Faced with this situation, what do practitioners of Buddha today have to do to be immune and overcome "obstacles" and progress?
1. Tham - yard - si
- Lay people: Living secular life with many worries, many bounded relationships. For secular people, honor - career - family is the goal, the meaning of life. In order to eat well, dress well, stay at home with high doors, full facilities, people sometimes defy tricks, willing to sacrifice their love, sell off personality, no longer know personality, ceremony, meaning, intellectual, credit. Now known to the Dharma, deeply believed in cause and effect - impermanence, the layperson should also be cautious, considerate, and think about the consequences of what he is about to do. Everything should follow the spirit of the Noble Eightfold-Path of the Buddha.
- Monks: a sad reality is that the current monastic life is too lavish, contrary to the Buddha's teaching. The Buddha from a Prince with all in hand to let go of all, including love, to seek the means of liberating samsara. Most of the cultivators today do the opposite, wanting to collect and hoard money and wealth offered by the Tanh Tanh. Use a luxury phone, ride a new car, eat non-stop, entice Buddhists to make offerings. Worse still, breaking the precepts, the lewd place of the Buddha's teachings, the majesty of not holding the music, singing, singing, smoking, and drinking alcohol is no different from ordinary ... Nowhere is the commitment to save sentient beings, to continue the wisdom of life. Buddhism (?). Knowing the crime but still committing this crime, whoever can save, will suffer for eternity.
2. There is no true belief
- Lay people: need to have true faith, deep belief in cause and effect, enlightenment of all impermanent things. Believe that practicing Buddhism will help you return karma, be liberated from the sea of samsara suffering if you follow the Buddha's teachings. Believe in your own Buddha Nature, but endeavor to practice diligently, not indulging in bad luck. Unfortunately, most of the lay people today look to Buddhism to pray, worship, pray ... to satisfy their desires, hatred and ignorance. They do not know that all their sins are created by themselves, with fair cause and effect.
- Monks: In order to meet the aspirations of the laity, the priests enthusiastically organize worshiping ceremonies, pray for superstition, and contribute to turning Buddhism into the holy religion and the evil one. It is all for the sake of the money the Buddhists spend on these rituals. Instead of demonstrating the Buddha's teachings for people to understand to have true beliefs, they follow to "pick money" and then accumulate it as their own. Whoever speaks up for the Dharma, they argue by all means, which is a skillful means, what is the unchanging dependence of Buddhism ... The belief in the monastic community still delusions of unrighteousness, the mind of greed and ignorance. Still so full of people, how can we direct the lay people "Righteous faith, Right karma" ?!
3. Learning Buddha likes Buddhism better
This is a common disease of both monks and lay people. Why? Because learning is easy but practice is difficult. Just being vegetarian is not easy at all, let alone giving, meditating, reciting Buddha's name and reciting mantras. Studying Buddhism is distinguished by qualifications, with clear certificates (bachelor, master, doctorate in Buddhism), but what to testify about Buddhism? Worldly Buddhist degree has no meaning, has nothing to do with enlightenment because it is just studying Buddha. With practice, worldly people can surpass each other, not cover the eyes of the Devil, let alone the Buddhas. So practice Buddha, don't study Buddha.
In Buddhist practice, knowledge-knowledge-tri is an obstacle, the mind is sick. When exposed to foreign conditions, the eyes see (view), listen (text); nose-mouth-body produces sensation, and mind produces the concept of knowledge (tri). That is the karma, the knowledge accumulated from studying in the past life to the present that should arise and pass away samsara. This is not the Supreme Master Wisdom that can only open itself when the practitioner reciting the Buddha's name or meditating in attains the Tam Muoi realm. Therefore, the miraculousness of the Dharma cannot be perceived by knowledge-perception. A few-year-old may be a slogans. Doctor of Buddhism can preach well, but with great content of birth and death, it doesn't matter if you just study but don't cultivate. Do not be entertained by any knowledge or degree of Buddhism,
So, how to practice? If you don't know anything about Dharma, you should find out the basic Buddhist teaching, temporarily encapsulated as "Suffering, No, Impermanence, No-Self, Compassion." When you have the Buddha Dharma basis as a guideline for daily life, try to make use of the effort, with everything in the world, do not generate attachment because nothing in life exists forever. Using recitation of the Buddha's voice or using the first voice to receive hope, reciting 6 senses (eyes, ears, nose, nose, body, mind) not allowing the consciousness to arise, even the knowledge about the Buddha Dharma will also let go, making fools be ignorant, do not see-hear-do not know, wherever you go, just try to recite the Buddha's recitation (or the first line) so that you will have one day to achieve One Mind, proceed to No Mindfulness to open Supreme Master Wisdom. Tanh.
4. Looking forward to merit, wonderful use
- Lay people: when doing good deeds, the mind or wishes for merit. Recite the Buddha's name, count how many recitations, bow to the Buddha how many times. Many people think that reciting a lot is a blessing. Remember, the blessings are not caused by the body or the mouth, but by using the mind, whether Compassion is selfless or not. Should develop the compassionate compassion Hy Discharge - No-self - No place to practice. Do not be mindful of human-self when cultivating Buddha.
For example: a rich person gives a hundred million dollars, mainly to polish his name, wishes to be grateful, or wishes to pray for merit. . But a poor person earns a few tens of thousands every day, when he meets the same situation, he develops compassion and pity, immediately gives alms without thinking, only wishes that he or she can be supported through the misery. so extremely blessed. Blessed by mind birth!
- Monks: when using meticulousness, often gives birth to the desire for magic. Looking forward to seeing a good scene when reciting the Buddha's name, taking meditation, reciting mantra. Hope we quickly enlighten, knowledge Tanh. Looking forward to miraculous, hear not shy ... Remember when using the work, what mind you want, Ma scene will appear the way, guide. When the mind wants to see the Buddha when he meditates, the Ma shows the Buddha, hoping to see the good scene, the Ma shows the good scene ... Gradually, the mind is happy, clinging to the Ma scene that cannot escape, being charred into Ma, mad is so. There have been many people who practice meditation, recite Buddha's name or chant mantras like that. Remember: only focus on the Buddha's sign, first line or mantra!
5. To sanctify the monk
Respecting monks and nuns is good, but it is not advisable to deify them. They, like me, are on the path of cultivating the Buddha, only with the difference in appearance and good condition to leave home. They also recite greed, anger, and delusion, and also the subtle human-self in mind. Many lay people bow to monks and nuns like they do to the Buddha, it is not advisable to just stand holding the Buddha's nature of the monks. Likewise, when the monk has not understood Tanh Tanh, he should be humble, absolutely not to receive blessings even if one kneels. If not "paragraph" is possible, do not have a selfish mind, consider yourself "superior" for sentient beings - Buddhists to bow and bow. Only with the spirit of Equality - Selflessness, and accept the standing (not kneeling), clasp the hands of the Buddhists, at the same time we have to amnesty of their Buddha Nature. Therefore, if the deity of the monk, they will generate egoistic mind. The current monastic corruption, especially their luxurious life, while outside there are still many unhappy and miserable lives, is partly due to the devotion of Buddhists. Many monks want to do, as long as they need to frankly ask their disciple to make offerings, which is very telling. Buddhists think they are Bodhisattvas, monks, or wish to pray for merit, so they close their eyes and make offerings; and monks do not sweat or cry to make money, so when the offerings are available in front of their eyes, for a long time, it is easy to create a devious and beneficial mind. Therefore, laypeople need to use Right view to reflect, Wisdom shows the truth to cultivate with the practitioner when making offerings, not for your kindness to accidentally create bad karma, abiding by the benefits of deviant monks, the training of Life and Training, the suffering of suffering and suffering are co-burden. Step-by-step practice does not need appearance; money, fame they see as trash. The robe - bald head does not make a practitioner. To cultivate Buddha is to cultivate the mind, not to cultivate the mind and to cultivate money. Monks who are also dignified should also review and self-alert. Do not let ignorance, greed, ignorance, and self-conceit lead that stray Bodhi, Buddha term end, depression, suffering, all eternity transcendent.
6. Retreating from Bodhi mind
- Lay people: there is a saying "There is reality to be Dao". A hard life, then karma according to cause and effect, the feeling of feeling money makes many lay people rotten with Bodhi. Either the process of spiritual practice does not bring much benefit as intended, or the inherent difficulty of practicing Buddhism leads to their inability (vegetarian, meditating, giving ...), or for many years in the religion. Can not find the Master, the path is still vague ... All kinds of adversity, internal obstacles, raging ghosts ... Ultimately due to hindering force, dominant.
The laypeople remember that, cultivating Buddha is not easy, no one is going to cover their carpet, the Buddhas are just the teacher leading the way. Karma is deep and deep for many generations, if it is not due to the Buddha Dharma rotation and dissolution, it will be forever. Life is short, very good for a few decades and everyone has a final grave. Get - lose, praise - criticize, happy - sad, happy - suffering, there's nothing real, so don't be attached to it. Only cultivating Buddha can help us to get rid of suffering, turn to enlightenment, and only I can save me. Thinking that, no matter how difficult the obstacle is, it is also seen as an opportunity to return karma, at the same time, peacefully recite the Buddha's name (contemplating meditation, reciting mantras) and using the early night and night, day and night, intensively meditating. Peace of mind!
- Monk: as mentioned above, mostly due to ignorance of karma, so even though renunciation, the mind is still running after lust, the forerunner of the world but loses its own path. They called for offerings, abused their common pillars but tried to build a large pagoda, where there was nothing lacking in comfort, someone to walk, a servant, and a cover like an official. If they do good deeds, they hope to receive the "merit" (?) Certificate of merit (?) Granted by the government, the Church; When I have it, I will bring out the eyes of Buddhists, showing merit, calling for continued contributions. Take money from Buddhists to do yourselves, then show off the authorities' recognition, polish the name of the pagoda and individuals to call for blessings, try to ask what is the difference between a robber who plundered the merits and merits of the ten directions. Tin (?). In addition, when the family has a relationship, the monk blatantly offers a price for a ceremony if Buddhists want to invite. Buddhists want to go to the main hall to worship Buddha, the abbot also stipulates that they must have (buy) robes to be allowed. They trade in Buddhist scriptures, the liberated person is turned into all sorts of beings and destroy the Buddha's door. More painful, they break the Precepts in the name of Buddhism, quibble by all means bent according to their delusion, wrong views. The situation of monks racing together chanting, singing, filming on the internet to "like", and then lusting and perverted at home thinking, even at the place of pure Zen, is hurting eyes and hearts. so many people. Alas! These are the evil demons in the guise of a monk that undermine the Buddha Dharma, destroy Buddhism, are "the true lion of the lion humiliation" as Buddha taught in the past. Buddhism is compassionate but wise.
7. Ego
The fame is only nominal, not to say enlightenment in the mind, with the great content of birth and death as nothing involved. Likewise, the time of practice does not speak of the cultivator's virtue, because it depends on karma, mindfulness and mind. An elderly monk is not necessarily "enlightened", but newcomers do not necessarily have "enamored". The example of Duc Luc To Hue Nang is still there, do not make mistakes after school, accept high tribute. Please follow the spirit of Van - Tu - Tu, Tu Y Phap (for any medical method, any meaning, any medical condition, or any medical condition, that means any medical condition), and cultivate the Dharma. Books beat each other on the spirit of Luc Hoa, avoiding more than losing the customary doctrine, but the Dharma must be clear. Everything "be based on the head" that lives and practices. Gentlemen and monks should take note.
* SUMMARY
The human body is difficult to hear, the Buddha Dharma is difficult to hear, and practice in accordance with the Dharma of the Buddha is even more difficult, especially today. And good for the children of Buddha, at home as well as renunciation, practicing righteousness. The precepts also mean that the Dharma remains. Buddhism flourishes or declines due to the true practice of Buddhists.
