Understanding what is the Three Jewels.

A. General concept.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

In human life, the most interested are ivory pearls, jewels, social status, but for Buddhism, the Three Jewels are precious three persons, but we cannot find them in material life. The Three Jewels bring noble qualities that bring people to the true value of life, which we call the truth as a light to light the way in the dark, like a boat to pass people through. through the waves.

The Three Jewels were formed since the Buddha turned the wheel of dharma for the first time in Deer Park garden to the five brothers Kieu Tran Nhu. Buddha Shakyamuni is Buddha, the Four Noble Truths are Dharma, and the five brothers Kiều Trần Như are Tăng Bảo. From here, the Three Jewels are supernatural abilities to help people get rid of suffering in the present life to the future. Such a realization means we see the noble value of Tam ba ba

B. Tam Bao Content

I - Buddha Bao

Sanskrit called Buddha. Buddhism is intended to refer to those who have enlightened. A Buddha has 10 signs (ten signs) Buddha has the meanings such as:

1) Self-consciousness:  Get the truths of phenomena by yourself.
2) Enlightenment:  After understanding the truth, bring that understanding to others to understand like me.
3) Enlightenment of perfect happiness:  Realizing self-reliance and forgiveness is fully fulfilling Buddha's virtues.

The Buddha has three virtues (three virtues)
*  German (Dharmakaya Germany):  eliminate all defilements or defilements.
*  Wisdom virtue (Bat Nha Duc):  using wisdom, in order to implement the good dhammas to achieve liberation.
*  Grace (Liberation virtue):  always benefits sentient beings to help sentient beings get rid of their hardship

II - Phap Bao

In Sanskrit called Dharma, Chinese translates the sound as the Dalai Lama, translated meaning France, including the holy three organs: scripture, law, commentary.

In the A Ham Sutta, there are mentioned five functions of the Dharma:

1) Practical right now.
2) Make people see their own nature.
3) Being able to help sentient beings attain Buddhahood: "I am a Buddha, you will be a Buddha."
4) Swipe out in time and space.
5) Practice has immediate results.

The Buddha's teachings have been passed down from generation to generation to help people who depend there practice to achieve peace and liberation we call it Dharma. The Dharma is combined with the following 3 things that become:

-The Dharma meaning:  Buddha was the first person to enlighten the Dharma to become a Buddha, the Sangha is a popular refuge in the Dharma practice. These are the two treasures of realizing and experimenting with the Dharma. If you separate the Dharma, you cannot exist. Thus Dharma is the heart of Buddha. The Buddha preached the Dharma using words, later recorded in writing, all of which were the explanations of the Dhamma, in order to convey sentimental thoughts to all species, like a finger pointing to the moon. indirectly helping people to understand the Fa.

The Dharma Context:  This is the Dharma that includes the perceived sphere of the mind. In the sense of the Dharma there are 2 types:
a) The Dhamma:  Buddhism thinks that the six sense bases are in contact with the six-ceiling leading to the sense of consciousness. The awareness scene: Consciousness, the consciousness, consciousness, consciousness, consciousness and consciousness, in which the first 5 consciousness can distinguish between the mind, mind, taste, contact. Here, only the sense of clearly distinguishing places is not the same, so it is called  Phap Phap.
b) The Dharma is necessarily:  Consciousness knows not only the Dharma, but all the senses of the eyes, ears, ears, tongue, body and mind that Consciousness can perceive. So all are Dharma, collectively called the  necessarily Dharma.

-The Dharma: The  method that helps learners of the Buddha to practice in the place to practice, not in words because this is just traces of the Dharma, which can be divided into 3 categories:  Truth of the Dharma, the Middle Way and free the solution.

III - Tang Bao

The Sanskrit word is Sangha, the Chinese translates to the Sangha, which means a harmonious, pure body, from four monks or more, sharing the same ideal towards enlightenment and liberation.

1-Sangha must show through five things:
a-Sangha  (Sangha)  :  Determines the ideal of the monk .
b-Sangha:  The Sangha is:  Wisdom, Liberation, Purification and Harmony.
c-Sangha:  As a monk must practice the Dharma manifested through the body (four postures: walking, standing, lying, sitting) and practicing the Dharma mind has a spiritual life.
d-Sangha: the virtuous  life of a monk has noble virtues full of Buddha through body, speech, and ì
g-Increase results:  is the result of a monk after practicing.

2-Why do we call the three jewels?

"The truth is rare,
Minh Tinh hits the power, The power is
solemn in the world, I
win invariably".

Translated:
True treasures are rare in the world,
Insight does not spoil,
Making worldly solemn,
That is the ultimate victory that does not change.

Note:
- Rare reality:  in this world there are rare storks
- Chastity:  is clear and transparent.
Power:  nothing can spoil?
- Serious:  make the three of them peaceful?
- Winning:  nothing equal.
Immutable:  nothing fades the flow.

C. The vital spirit of the Sangha

To build a strong family association, the first thing to do is to show the spirit of solidarity and harmony. That is why since the establishment of the Congregation, the Buddha devised a way to maintain the Sangha development to make the Buddha Dharma strong. Therefore, without the Sangha of pure harmony, it would be difficult to propagate the Dharma. The Buddha gave 6 reverence.

* Six harmonious reconciliation:
Luc Hoa is also called the six reverence, a method of building the organization of the unions to make the organizational system strong, meeting the requirements of the household? Old age develops with positive factors, resolving conflicts that may arise internally in order to arrive at unity, harmony and purity.

1 / Friendly in harmony:  Living together must know harmony to create a friendly relationship. Comply with the regulations that the community organization makes towards the common goal, eliminate unnecessary differences in life.

2 / Controversial harmony:  Must be able to yield to each other, say to each other in lovely words as ancient virtue often teaches: "Speak like the Dharma, be silent as the Dharma"

3 / Agree to approve:  Also known as the words of harmony or harmony, while living together, but no one accepts anyone's opinion, the organization must disintegrate, want to realize this spirit. must perform the spirit of the four immeasurable minds

4 / About fellow initiates:  The Buddha's precepts are designed to allow everyone to obey the first thing that everyone must have a common ideal. This is the basic foundation for living together in a community.

5 / View in harmony with fake i:  (  Respectful Dong Kien ) This is the way that we call the expression of division, because Buddhism is the way of building people on the spirit of compassion and wisdom. Learning and cultivating results must be presented to everyone who practices with them without selfishness to conceal

6 / Loi hoa gouân:  Having merit and sharing there are difficulties and recognizing it as the spirit of the Buddha. forgive or open mind

Through the six reverence, we realize that not only the Sangha, but every family in the social community that can flexibly apply this spirit will create a happy family. As for the monks and nuns, it is a guideline for the Church to be strong, the organizational system in a complete direction. It is also a good example for people to turn to Buddhism.

D. The Three Jewels have three ranks

I - Entity of the Three Jewels (Self-Nature of the Three Jewels):
1)  All beings of the Buddha: All beings have the same qualities as the Buddhas, "no increase in
humanbeings doesnot decrease".
2) The same Dharma:  Beings have the quality of compassion, equality ...
3) The same Sangha:  All beings have the virtue of purity and harmony.

II - Exodus Three Jewels:

1) Out of the world, Buddha said:  Only to the Buddha in 10 directions 3 generations (past, present and future).
2) Out of the world Dhamma:  Only giving the Buddha's teachings is capable of helping sentient beings to be free from the
bondage of the world.
3) Exodus the Sangha world:  Only for the Sangha saints to get rid of all suffering such as: Ca Lettuce, Xa Loi Phat.

III - The World of the Three Jewels:

1) The World  Stubborn Buddha: Only for the Buddha images, the relics that we respect
2) The World Abhidhamma  Only for the three sacred Buddhist scriptures recorded on paper, commercial leaves ...
3 World Religion Abbot:  Only for monks to truly practice the lineage of the Buddha's Dharma.

E - Buddhist Perception of the Three Jewels

1) Establishing the image of Buddha (Buddha):

a / The Buddha is a guide (the guru):  Buddhists come to Buddhism to seek the truth, in order to realize the truth of life through the Buddha's image for us to see. He is a Teacher as He taught; "Tathagata only the directions, each person has to go to, no one to go for one that is" .Ngai advised his disciples:  "He is the refuge of his own, no one else can do helpless "  and the Buddha concluded:  " You should do your work, for the Tathagatas only teach the way ".

b / The Buddha is a physician (great medicine king):  The Buddha often affirms that he is a physician  "A Tathagata is a physician who knows the disease and gives medicine, drink or not, depending on each person"

c / The Buddha is not a supernatural being:  Buddhist conception sees the Buddha as just a guide, a physician, the Buddha never gives himself the power to bless anyone. He was born as a human being, living an ordinary life as a human being and pretending his life as a human. There was a Brahmin who asked who He was. The Buddha said:  "Like a beautiful and lovely Lotus, not polluted with mud and muddy water, in the midst of the dust, I do not get a little mess, So I am Buddha" ( Anguttara Nikaya ).

2) The Buddhist for the Dharma:
Man who is his master can change his own life, but no one can be anyone else. So the Buddha is the one who must aim for the main purpose of the Buddha's teachings, which the Buddha used to teach:  "The waters of the four seas have only one person, which is the root desire, so also the teachings of Tathagata have only one. That taste is the liberation " . As for the Buddha's teaching that Buddhists should consider it as a cure for their illnesses, as the ancient virtue often teaches:  "Beings are multidimensional Buddhas."

3) The Buddhist for the Sangha:
In Buddhism, we often mention:  "four groups of initiates"  (Bhikkhus, Bhikkhunis, near-men and women) that we call the four.

For them to be ordained, to study and apply the practice of practice, to teach the Buddha's Dharma to them at home, on the contrary, they have an external responsibility to practice together and progress on the path of liberation. But both the home and the monk are both Buddhist disciples, the very relationship in practice helps both to have the same conditions for spiritual progress.

H . Conclude

By faithfully believing in the Three Jewels with the qualities of Enlightenment, liberation, compassion, equality, purity and harmony, the Three Jewels are the power to help all sentient beings have an orientation free from prejudice, Therefore, as Buddhists, we must have a correct understanding of the Three Jewels that we depend on. Faith will have a chance to shine.

Coming to the Three Jewels is to learn and apply the practice in order to avoid all mistakes when they live in the conditions far away from the Buddha. Because only the way to receive the truth is the way to create true belief  "Coming to see is not coming to believe". END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES  ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY=20/8/2020.
