Ten things to mind.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

In life, everyone has things that take care of his heart, can not be forgotten. People in real life have a lot of worries about their livelihoods, their jobs, or their hard-earned gratitude. For the practitioner, although there is little concern about daily life matters, there are still many things to be engraved on the mind. There are ten things in mind

Ten things of mindfulness are found in the Abhidharma Commentary. This is the luggage of a practitioner to carry along the austerities, from the mind to the mind.

I-Article 1:

"Think of the body, don't pray for no suffering, because without sickness desire will arise."

People born, often have a wrong view of the body, so build so many illusions on it. They consider themselves to be firm, durable, and themselves; Since then, creating so many bad karma, suffering many worries and worries just because of the body.

By superhuman wisdom, the Buddha realized the nature of the body, and he spoke the truth: The body is a predestined being, impermanent, without being. Indeed, this body is due to borrowing from the four elements (Earth, water, wind, fire) outside, becoming the inner four elements, always governed by the law of mutuality and reciprocity. Mutual love is borrowed from each other, depending on each other to become, to exist and then destroy: This is a cycle of birth and death of the body. During existence, the elements experienced many incompatibilities, such as the wind carved with the earth, the water carved with fire. Illness arises when one factor dominates another; and all his life, he is like a boss who keeps four snakes in a basket all day long just to feed and regulate them, to prevent them from biting each other. But no matter how hard they try, they sometimes bite at each other, that's sick; and worse, again they ripped the basket and escaped, this is the time of death. The owner raised four other snakes, continued the meaningless work, without the same day, that is the cycle of samsara, rolling around in three or six paths without exit.

Knowing the nature of the body, we see Sanh-Lao-Sick-Death being four things that the body cannot avoid, including the good 32 forms of the Buddha. By mindfulness we realize that suffering is a reality in the field of self, which is close because it closely follows the body during the cycle of birth and death. Once we have identified the disease, we will perform the transformation. The disease causes a sense of anguish on the body; but because the body is predestined, not us, so even though our body is ill we don't feel suffering. A meditator will see this quite clearly: If the mind does not dream about the future, remembers the past, but stands on the land of reality, living with the "being", we will receive it directly. all instabilities happen in the body and mind, then transcend and then liberate with all.

In fact, a person who always has many lucky things, his body is not sick, everything is according to his will, the desire will be illustrious. They have the illusion that they are great, above all; From there arrogant to wild born, want to conquer the whole world. If a person sometimes suffers from suffering due to illness, he or she is able to see the true nature of the body, so it is easy to awaken and generate spiritual training. Saying that does not mean that we should mistreatly destroy the body, or wish to get sick, because having the wish is intentional, not in accordance with the spirit of Buddha's teaching. Both extremes, on the one hand, are too caring and nurturing themselves, because the body creates so much bad karma; one side for the body is filthy, boring, doing everything to get rid of it; the two concepts are not suitable for the Sino-Buddhist people who practice Buddhism.

II- Article 2:

"Do not pray in life, because if you are not in trouble, pride will arise."

In the early days of the year, people often wish each other "Everything is right". This sentence speaks to our wish, to avoid life-threatening calamities, all life, to be well-connected. Is this wish real?

In retrospect, to the top kings, all peoples, to promote, still encounter many troubles. Because, disaster always lurks, no one can avoid it. As a matter of cause and effect, bad things happen to us, because we have planted bad causes at some time before. Because of ignorance, we have created so many bad karma, then pray for good luck for us, which is not true.

Our spiritual practitioners, who are anti-laundry fighters of sorrow, always have an intellectual sword in hand. Through intelligence, we identify tribulation as a fact in life, to be able to transform it. When the tribulation comes, if we are not truly free, we will be less afflicted.

Again, many times we do not identify what is the blessing and what is the curse. A lifelong person with good luck, often himself as the best in the world; therefore, the Prime Minister has the opportunity to arise and be famous, which is "Kieu", which means to be better than others and despise others. Until an adversity occurs, will the person stand up to the test? On the contrary, an ordinary person sometimes has things that he / she does not want, so that he can wake up and develop a spiritual mind.

III- Article 3.

"Consider the nature of the mind, don't pray without problems, because if you don't have problems, the school will not be thorough."

Reading biographies of world celebrities, especially scientists, we see that everyone embraces one or more problems in their field of expertise, plying day and night to explore contemplation, sometimes forget to eat. sleepless. When the problem was solved, an infinite joy surged that made them unable to control themselves. The anecdote about Archimede (287-212 BC) when the invention of water repellent was invented.

For those who study the religion, the sincere and sincere spirit of praying for religion is even more important. If you practice and do not want to get stuck, everything will be easy to understand and refrain from seeking to learn, then when will the new understanding deep, the new school thoroughly? How can a person who does not have the spirit of prayers, fear of hardship and suffering go forward on the spiritual path? So, this is also the way to identify difficulties. In difficulties, if there is a person who earnestly desires to learn, he must contemplate, think, and wholeheartedly agree on the problem he is having. When reason begins to shine, they will see what is the spiritual joy that permeates the whole body and mind. There are Zen teachers, after many years of traveling, wearing many pairs of grass shoes, or sitting as many rams as many still have not found the essence of Zen. Someday suddenly, the light of enlightenment dawned, suddenly found himself in harmony with the universal universe, the most mind-like. Zen masters either laugh, or cry, or scream ... all are manifestations in the joys of discovering eternal reality.

IV Article 4.

"Building virtue, do not pray not to be obstructed, because without miasma, the will is not tenacious."

The Buddha distinguishes two types of ghosts: internal and external ghosts. The inner paternal body and mind are, by others, or by external circumstances; it all hinders the progress of cultivation. In a religious life, no one will meet difficulties from outside and from inside. For example, sometimes the body gets sick or has an accident; The mind is often confused when meditating, which is internal. A person who is cultivating peacefully has someone come to harass him and falsify the price; or where we live in the face of a natural disaster, it's a ghost. It is possible to say that at any time and anywhere, a practitioner may also be possessed.

As such, karma is also an unavoidable reality. The Buddha taught us not to pray not to be obscured, but to recognize and transform it. A meditator, who one day suffers from sciatica, cannot meditate; can he practice? If one accepts a new posture of meditation, he does not understand the path; because meditation is a good posture, but not the only one for meditation.

When King Ly Nhan Tong prepared himself to go to Chiem, knowing that someone in the court wanted to create a rebellion, the king told the Regent Y Lan: "Everything is like lightning, one is meditative." Everything that happens can be like a lightning strike that disturbs the mind and body. Despite the external harassment of ghosts, if we have a surface of mindful awareness, there will be no difficulties that cannot be overcome.

In fact, the karmic hindrances are a measure of one's strength and will; it is also predestined if we can transform it. A prayerful practice of patience, if you pray that no one will touch or offend you, how can you make the prayer? Therefore, without miasma, our will will not be cultivated, our willpower will not be challenged, elaborately will be difficult to progress.

One thing to emphasize, you are the key to make yourself difficult. Why say that? A cultivator should never set others as his object, and consider himself an object of another. In order to build virtue, we must have an immense space for ourselves, so no matter whom or the circumstances are urgent, it does not affect that immense space. We will find freedom in the middle of life, in the middle of life, without any obstacle that hinders our progress.

V. Article 5.

"Jobs don't expect to be easy, because easy jobs become arrogant contempt"

Every work in life, especially the Buddha's work, if we are easy to succeed, in the mind of all beings arrogance. We think we are more talented, intellectual and blessed than people. It is this conceit heart that greatly hinders our practice, especially when encountering a failure that can make us feel rotten and withdrawn.

On the other hand, we know that the harder it is to accomplish, the greater the value. Want to build a property, sometimes it takes effort all your life. Want to have great fame, how much time it takes practice, how much arduous and trade off much intellectual power. That is just the frivolous status property of the world, let alone the great escape of samsara, becoming a Buddha, but only wanting to spend a little time, money, and labor, will it succeed? okay? In the past, the Zen student Than Quang cut his hand to pray for dharma. Hue Nang, a Buddhist monk wearing stone, pounded rice for eight months in a house, so that the monks and nuns could not complain, only after he was given the medicine bowl to Luc To. Today, if we imitate them, have the will of the dharmakaya, then there is a corresponding part. And if you live leisurely for days and months,

VI- Article 6.

"Communicate not to benefit yourself, for your sake, you will lose morality"

In communication, those who know morality know how to use each other, so that they are sincere and do not harm others. That is called religious life.

Kinh-Ba-Tac World, the Buddha taught: “A life of value, is a life that includes one's own interests. A worthless life, one that is neither good for oneself nor good for oneself. A selfish life, one that only benefits oneself, even harming others. A life of cruelty, a life of mistaking others for one's benefit. " In the spirit of self-seeking, the Buddha offers four ways of life and teaches us to live only the first way, including benefiting others. The predecessors of the past, sometimes for good cause, even though it is harmful to oneself. "Male confidant who feigns death" - A man may die because of his confession, like Kinh Kha because of the love of Prince Dan's love and affection to be a guest, even if he has to sacrifice his life. The ancients were so important,

VII- Article 7

"With men, don't expect everyone to agree with their own will, because being accorded to their own will is arrogant."

Each person is born with his or her own karma created from his previous life, so the circumstances of chief justice and y report are unlike anyone. The look and the knowledge also depend on the karma because thinking is still arising and is still under the control of karma. So understanding and judging is based on the subjective opinion of each person, if you ask everyone to have the same opinion as yourself, that is not possible.

In a collective, even a collective practice, there are nine people ten ideas. Even elaborate interpretations, not everyone is the same. A person who is always supported by the people around him, who claims to be praised by everyone, he cannot help but arise, will become more and more detached from morality.

The Buddha taught: People who respect the truth will never say that my understanding is right, anyone who understands me differently is wrong. The person who protects the truth will say, this is my own opinion, not the general opinion of each person. In a workshop, when discussing a problem, we often see many ideas made, sometimes against each other. That's because everyone sees an aspect, but sometimes those arguments help to clarify the problem. Therefore, everyone has the right to state their opinions, but respect the views of others. Only after sympathy can you get rid of persistent differences, understand each other, and truly love each other.

VIII- Article 8 .

"Gifts do not ask for compensation, because praying for a gift is a gift of intent."

A gift is a gift to another person, either materially or mentally. When we graciously give to others, we should not expect repayment. The motivation for giving is to be compassionate, to love someone like you, to see the sufferer as well as yourself, to find ways to relieve suffering for you. The meaning of alms Ba-la-secret is not seen to give France, did not see there are people who do and do not see people who are being given - that is Tam tuan.

We understand the Buddha's teaching, so we should use heartlessness to help people who are more miserable than us. If we work with pity, that is, a calculating scheme, thinking that others are obligated to be grateful and rewarding ourselves, when that person doesn't reciprocate, we will be sad, upset and resentful. lifetime. At that time, compassion was clouded and covered by mist.

IX- Article 9:

"See the benefits do not dip your hands in, because dipping your hands into the delusion of booting"

At first glance, we cannot help but wonder: Often people who work must enjoy a few benefits for themselves and their families, as long as they are true. Here again taught, do not get involved in the benefits; So what are we and working to do?

In the A-Ham Sutta, the Buddha only elaborates on ways to stabilize family life, in which economic life is important. Those who practice, if they find that it is beneficial for the Church and the common good, must still do it. In the monastery still has its own fund, still have to take care of economic support for them in addition to the Buddhist offerings. All are beneficial. In fact, these things are not contrary to the above mind, because the Buddha wants to remind us, do not let the delusion benefit, run after the immediate benefit and forget the harm behind.

The ants were drowned in the tofu, the greedy fish took the bait, and the weasels were greedy and trapped ... People also, often thought to be wise, were also seduced by the five sensual desires, so they were forever in the middle of the six paths. . If we know the five desires are the delights that engulf so many deluded people, if we know all the mundane pleasures are only illusory realities, we will avoid so much suffering and suffering.

X- Article 10:

"Injustice need not justify, because justification is the cause of ego is not exhausted"

What this last thought makes us wonder. Normally, when we are wrongly accused or falsely accused, we need to justify and explain to others from our misunderstanding. Especially in the family or among close friends, sometimes misunderstandings cause unfortunate breakdowns, which may not happen if we resolve clearly. So, where does the truth lie when it is said that injustice does not need justification?

Resentment between people and people has a cause far or near from many lifetimes. Currently we have been falsely accused, maybe due to a certain life we have planted good causes corresponding to today's fruits. If we try to justify, it is due to the mind of the self. This is the mundane heart of disturbing emotions, which obstructs liberation. Here, referring to the realm of the Holy, that is the extraordinary will of the person who is no longer suffering from ego's attempt to fade his wish to practice spiritually. A person who has transcendental marketing can only understand marketing; if elaborately attaining a certain level but still bothered about having to harass, good or bad, the elaborately will stop. Therefore, we cannot use mortal power to measure the understanding of the saints.

CONCLUDE:

“Therefore the Buddha taught: Taking suffering as a psychopath, taking suffering as a liberation, taking questions as interesting, taking ghost soldiers as companions, taking difficulties to be enjoyable, taking bad people to be helpful people. , take the opposers as a place of exchange, consider the grace as a pair of sandals, take the benefit of giving glory, make unjustly the door of virtue ”

In the ten difficult situations mentioned above, the Buddha always taught us to identify them. Not to hide, not to protest, but to identify. This is the first step in the Awakening and transformation process. When we face the challenges that come to us, we will see them as the undeniable realities, the must-have elements of life. Because of suffering, we can see that this body is impermanent and has no subject; thanks to the bad, opposing, injustice against the price of art, we have absorbed the cause and effect; from which we awaken, seeing life as illusory games, just flowers in the middle of nowhere. We will increase the mind, cultivate the will, strengthen the force; perform self-transformation and transformation of circumstances, turning predestined to victory.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.3/8/2020.
