Meaning of Yulanpen Festival.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

Every year, folk often worship Co Hon in the days after the full moon of the seventh lunar month, Buddhism has a VU LAN ceremony held on the full moon day of the seventh month, whether we are Buddhists or not, we should also learn about this matter.

The noun Vu Lan is a phonetic transliteration of the Sanskrit Ullambana, which the Chinese translates as “Prize Ðảo Huyền”, meaning to rescue suspended misery. The Chinese also call this ceremony as VU LAN BON, the word Bon means pots, used to represent the bowl of offering food. So Vu Lan or Vu Lan Bon ceremony means that offering food to the Three Jewels to ask for the prayers for grandparents and parents of those who have died in seven generations is called a dead end, if anyone has committed a sin. In the world, when the complete fall to hell, will be thanks to the grace of the Three Jewels out of hell, born to other peaceful realms.

In the folk based on that, believing that there were many souls coming out of hell on that day, for many days imprisoned in hell, hungry food, thirst, and compassion, people offered offerings to those spirits are fed and fed. Because they offer salty food, they only worship from the 16th onwards until the end of July.

Why does this Vu Lan Bon ceremony? When Shakyamuni Buddha was still alive, there were over 1200 monks who often followed the Buddha to practice (not including over 500 nuns), of which Muc Lien was very filial, so he was also known as the Venerable Muc Lien. he had the highest divine powers, ranked among the ten most talented disciples of all the Buddha's disciples.

Immediately after Muc Lien Lien attained six miraculous powers: 1) Seeing everything in the universe (divine eyesight), 2) Listening to every language everywhere (the natural ear of wisdom), 3) Knowing the story of the previous life and This life is like ours as well as those of people (Claim the network), 4) Know what others are thinking (Let us know), 5) Know how to go everywhere in a moment and change everything (divinity (communication), 6) Completely pure, free from affection, no longer attached to people, accepting me (Gonorrhea), remembering his mother, he used divine eyes to find his mother born into a hungry ghost, not eating or drinking He brought rice to his mother. Mrs. Thanh De's heart was still stingy, so she covered the mouth of the bowl with her left hand, and her right hand scooped up the rice, but when the rice was not brought to her mouth, it gave birth to charcoal, she could not eat. Muc Kien Lien returned to the Buddha with everything.

The Buddha taught that Thanh De's sin was too heavy, Muc Lien Lien could not be saved, to save his mother, he had to use the power of the ten directions to be liberated.

By the full moon day of the seventh month, is the Fourth of the Buddhist Monk, for the sake of the parents of seven generations or the present parents, for those who are in an accident, buying various kinds of food, fruits, incense lamps, bed linen, the best food put in the TABLES, donated to the monks. On that day, the monks' cultivation was successfully completed, the Holy Sangha monks in the ten directions gathered together to eat the Tu Tu rice unanimously. Whoever consecrates food for them on this day, parents and grandparents no longer suffer, contemporary living increases longevity, the deceased is born in the peaceful realms.

The Buddha also taught the monks, on the day of the Tu Tu, to put the worshiping ceremony in front of the Buddha image, to pray for the donor and their relatives for seven generations before taking life.

Muc Lien Lien obeyed the Buddha's teaching, and did the same thing, Mrs. Thanh De immediately escaped the life of a hungry ghost and was born into Heaven. Duc Muc Lien Lien also asked, later on, can Buddhists celebrate Vu Lan Bon?

The Buddha taught that those who want to show their parents' filial piety, on the full moon day of the seventh month, put delicious food in the bowl, bring them to the four directions, to pray, the parents who have money will live long, not sick, no. miserable parents, grandparents will get rid of the misery of the hungry ghosts born in the human world or the heavenly enjoy many merits.

The word Tu Tu means arbitrary, Tu Tu Day is the day when the monks, no matter where they are to practice for three months, from the day of the 4th full moon to the seventh full moon day, they must gather in one place. a monk read the precepts, and then self-professed the precepts committed by the monks during the three-month period, in order to repent of those mistakes, depending on the serious or minor transgression, condemns the offenders. gender. This day is also known as Happy Day, because monks happily have a day to read the precepts, to repent themselves, Buddhists are happy to offer the ten directions of the Three Jewels to pray, those who have passed away are happy. out of hell's suffering.

That is the meaning of VU LAN, an important Buddhist holiday. In Buddhism, there were two important holidays every year; It is Buddha's Birthday and Vu Lan's Day. In the pre-printed Nhat Tung Sutras, there are: Late Finishing Period, Pho Mon subject, Di Da, Kim Cang and Vu Lan.

Buddhists, on the full moon day of the seventh month, go to the temple to worship Buddha, but if understood correctly, they should follow the Buddha's teachings. Their grace and virtue pray that their relatives can live a long life, be healthy or have passed away, they will be free from hell, born to another realm to enjoy many blessings. Remember Muc Lien Lien, thanks to him asking, so the Buddha taught, Buddhists follow so many people have been born in the peaceful realm. END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.18/8/2020.
