Think about the spirit of leading.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
Today there are not many witnesses because people are not determined to cultivate, focusing too much on the form and being easy on themselves.
Spiritual guidance of the ancients
The ancients prayed very faithfully and earnestly. To learn a verse, a good verse, to hear a declaration, to teach a dharma practice ... the ancients were not afraid to cross the forest, climb mountains, wade streams, not be afraid of distant roads, dangerous places to find bridges . Because of praying with such sincerity, the ancients soon approached the religion, enlightened early and attained accomplishment in practice.

Hui Hui Shakyamuni -
In the Sutta , the Buddha recounted countless innumerable previous lives, he once generated the mind to pray for the Dharma to forget his whole body. In one life, he volunteered to serve a prophet for many years to pray for the sage to teach morality.
In another life, he was born in the Dharma-ending period, unable to find a teacher despite the hard work of searching everywhere; He finally met a person who said he had learned a verse that could help a monk become a saint. With great joy, He quickly knelt down and begged the other person to teach the verse. The other said, "Buddha Dharma is even harder to pray, you want to hear nothing." He asked: "So how can we pray, please teach us?". The other said, "Stab a needle with every pore, when blood comes out like a stream and the heart has no regrets, can you do it?" He was very happy to answer, "Although I have to break this body, I am also determined to pray for the Dharma." After saying that, he went to the market to buy needles and stabbed into each pore of a tree to make the blood out.
The other person saw that and praised Him as a man of less devotion, and taught him the verse: “Keep your word and your mind, and your body does not commit evil. Keeping those three virtues, is a holy man. ” Studying that verse, He was very happy, day and night striving diligently according to the verse but practicing without any lazy treatment, going through many lifetimes until the day of becoming Chief Justice of Right Understanding.
Meditation also records many anecdotes about the spiritual spirit of the ancestors of the ancestors, including the story of Mr. Hue Kha. It is said that Hue Kha went to Tung Son mountain to visit the Bodhi-Bodhisattva Priest who was not taught by the Patriarch, and cut off his arm to show the earnest spirit of praying; After that, she was declared by the Preliminary Patriarch and became Second. In the history of the renunciants, Huyen Trang (596-664) is also a shining example of the spirit of study. Because he wanted to expand his schooling and practice his aspiration to propagate Buddhism, Xuanzang made a vow to go to India to study. He alone a horse crossed the border, went into the desert, sometimes near death but persevered: "It is better to go to the West and die, determined not to turn back to pray for life." Finally, Xuanzang also arrived in India to study at the higher levels. Returning to China after 17 years of praying, Xuanzang brought over 600 sets of sutras, commentaries and various legal measures.
Spiritual guidance of the ancients was a shining example of thousands of generations for posterity. That example always reminds the next generation to be more diligent and more diligent on the path to finding happiness for oneself and others, and at the same time appreciating what the hard-earned money has hardened and created. , in which religion is the most noble. Spiritual guidance of the ancients is an example to revive the will of those who are rotten, discouraged when encountering adversities and difficulties on the path of practice.
One practitioner asked his teacher why he practiced for many years without enlightenment. The teacher then led him to a river bank and plunged him into the water. After a long time the teacher pulled him up and asked: "When I was submerged in the water, what was the first thing I thought of?". The disciple replied, "At that time, I thought nothing else but want to emerge from the water to breathe." Then the teacher said, "When you pray with such sincere devotion, you will see virtue." The above story gives us a very useful lesson. When the will to direct, practice earnestly; When a practitioner considers attainment, considers accomplishment in practice an urgent need like breathing to live, then he can let go of the unnecessary things, wholeheartedly concentrate on the practice. , so that the practice quickly accomplishes.
The spiritual spirit of this person
In the past, the conditions for practice were not as sufficient as they are today, the propaganda facilities, monasteries are not many, classics, books and books are not widely circulated, but witnesses are many, because of the spirit of cultivation. The ancients considered the sages of the sage, the teachings of the ancestors, the wise and wise people more precious than their own lives, willing to give up their lives to study, respect and worship them as treasures sacred, wholeheartedly believe, wholeheartedly obeyed, practiced until the place of destination. If today, everyone who learns the Buddha has the spirit of revering the Dharma and wholeheartedly studies the Dharma, dares to give up the life of worldly desires, abandon mediocre material aspirations to wholeheartedly cultivate I don't worry about what I practice, what I don't want to make progress on, when I practice, I don't worry about what the dharma does.
Nowadays, Buddhist practitioners have many conditions and many opportunities to come into contact with the Dharma, because sutras and books on Buddhism are circulating everywhere. Those who want to learn, study and apply Buddhism to life can still contact Buddha Dharma easily by visiting Buddhist websites, research forums, and exchanging cultivation experiences through Global network. In addition, there are many Buddhist centers, many monastic practitioners with sincere masters who give guidance and always create good opportunities for Buddhist practitioners. However, it can be said that one of the reasons today is not so many witnesses is because people are not determined to cultivate, focusing too much on the form and being easy on themselves.
More than ten years ago, a friend asked me to borrow the Dharma teachings of the Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch Hui Neng. Shortly after, I went to his friend's house and saw that the book was doubled and stuffed inside the wall. I said, "You put the scriptures on the wall like that, both disrespectful and just ruining the sutras?". He smiled and said, "It's just a piece of paper, don't accept that." I shook my head but did not agree with what I did, knowing that I thought I was no longer attached to it but in fact, I was attached to it.
On the altar of your family's Buddha is the key, nail clippers, toothpicks ... all kinds of junk. Asked why he left the place of worship Buddha so solemn, he casually replied: "Buddha is in the mind!". Listening to his talk seemed like he was an enlightened person or a saint, not ordinary. The more books he read about the teachings of the Zen masters, the more excited he was, his words and arbitrary deeds, unlike anyone else, but he always considered them to be disobedient, to be free of problems, to be free, hands in the market ”.
When he came to visit him, he was seriously bedridden, sometimes he fell into a coma, sometimes scattered, the painful pain caused his heart to be buoyed by him, he groaned, lamented, irritated with his relatives, anyone who sees it also has pity At this point, the practice could not be taken lightly, when nothing happened normally, it seemed like nothing, if I thought I had peace of mind, there was no more bare-earth consequences, no more suffering. mix again. People often get deluded by delusions and delusions until they see who they are, whether Buddha, humanitarian or mediocre, who uses the practice or not.
