The White Book of Venerable Thich Tam Chau:
The Tribulation of Buddhism and the Country, 1996
(Excerpt from pages 27-39)

In 1966, the Church Congress again forced me to serve as President for another term. The Church is afraid of the generals fighting for influence, unable to have a solid basis to build the country, the Church requires (elections) the Constitutional Council. This requirement is launched throughout the Church levels. But within a few months the request for election to the Constitutional Assembly was accepted by the Generals' Government on April 14, 1966.

After the election of the Constitutional Assembly Congress was satisfied, on behalf of the President, I sent a newsletter to places where I knew: stop fighting, and just set up ethical building programs.

On May 2, 1966, I boarded a plane to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, and with Sangha delegates drafting the Charter and establishing the World Sangha Church starting on May 6, 1966 and I take on the position of Vice President. Back from Sri Lanka, I visited Malaysia and Singapore to thank the spiritual support in the last 1963 fight.

At 11am on May 29, 1966, I arrived in Saigon, and I was told that there were protests in Saigon and some other places in the Central region. I do not understand, when I was away, at home with the venerable Tri Quang, the venerable Thien Minh, why restart the fighting movement?

When I arrived at Vietnam National Pagoda, when I stepped into the door of the director of the Institute of Chemistry, there was a yellow banner in red letters that said: "If people follow the discipline, they must follow the people". When I arrived at my desk, there was a plate of blood, a knife and a blood letter: "Request the monks in the Institute of Chemistry, not to follow the monk Tam Chau". I planned to go to the main hall of Vietnam National Buddhist Temple, where there were a number of young monks who did not allow me to go to the National Palace of Vietnam and intimidated anyone who wanted to enter the temple to step over their corpses.

I was extremely depressed, not knowing how to restore order. I returned to Tu Quang Pagoda. I also had a plate of blood, a knife and blood to return to Tu Quang Pagoda to prevent me from working anymore. And people in the temple said they threatened to burn cars and assassinate. And it was the young monks who were gathering at the Quang Duc Buddhist Temple (Ban Co) who planned to come to Tu Quang pagoda to kill me. May the nun Van know, let me know. I escaped. (4)

Since then, I have to go on holiday, now at this house, tomorrow at another house, now at Nhu Dao Quang Trung Institute, tomorrow at the Chaplain of Buddhism.

From then on, Vietnam Quoc Tu was seized and manipulated by monks and nuns, continuously day in and day out, on Tran Quoc Toan street, at the crossroads of Saigon - Cho Lon, knocked down and burned mannequin. US President, General Thieu and General Ky. I don't dare to come and work in Vietnam Quoc Tu anymore.

In Hue, Da Nang and a few other places in the Central, too, can not restore order. More friction between Generals Nguyen Chanh Thi and Generals in Saigon. The Lap Truong group in Hue was born, demanding the election of the National Assembly, demanding a halt to the war.

In the end, the Saigon generals brought troops to restore the Central order, Venerable Thich Tri Quang and his fighting group in Hue, called on Buddhists to bring the Buddha altar to the road, to prevent the advance of the Government Army. for the communist officials lying, mixing tea to escape. The movement to bring Buddha altars to the streets spread everywhere and into Saigon. In Saigon, they bring Buddha images on the garbage.

Looking at that scene, I felt heartbroken, immediately issued a message asking Buddhists not to take Buddha to the street. Venerable Thich Thien Hoa, deputy director of the Institute of Chemistry, suddenly issued an announcement of approval for bringing Buddha to the street. (5)

In Da Nang as well as some other places, in addition to bringing the Buddha to the street, he also pinned the gun, hiding behind the Buddha image, when the army entered the temple to control.

After bringing the Buddha to the street, Venerable Tri Quang entered the Administrative Court of Thua Thien Province on a hunger strike. After the government brought Tri Quang to Saigon, at the doctor Nguyen Duy Tai's house. The Venerable remained on a hunger strike (with medical drinks), until his military government promised him in April 1966, electing to the Constitutional Assembly on September 3, 1966.

After clearing the chaos in Hue and some other provinces in the Central region, in the capital city of Saigon, the government also settled the chaos group in Vietnam Quoc Tu. The Saigon Metropolitan Court officially wrote a letter of apology to the Church: "Because of the reluctance to pay the rebellion group in Vietnam Quoc Tu, the government did not dare to violate religion."

I returned to work in Vietnam Quoc Tu, but certain fighters did not return. They said that the government offended religion and that I was pro-government. In Central Vietnam, Tri Quang said: "The US bought Tam Chau for $ 3 million and I was the uncle of General Nguyen Cao Ky, bringing the army to massacre Buddhists in Central Vietnam, etc.".

That is the place where the conflict between me and the fighters arises. From that conflict, in Saigon, the venerable Tri Quang and the struggling group slandered me as an American for giving me US $ 1 million and paying me US $ 20,000 a month. In fact, I have not received a US dollar, let alone tens of thousands or millions. (6)

I still patiently worked, following the teachings of the Most Venerable Thich Tinh Khiet summoning the Congregation for the Church in Vietnam Quoc Tu from October 21, 1966.

In the afternoon of October 22, 1966, the new congress reviewed the agenda.

Suddenly, at 3am on October 23, 1966, at An Quang pagoda, a number of attendants secretly set up the Unification Buddhist Council of Vietnam Buddhist Institute and nominated Venerable Thich Thien Hoa to be the President. considered to overthrow me. From there, the Institute of Chemistry of the Unified Buddhist Church in An Quang was established.

So, where is the place to divide and manipulate the Unified Church?

Subsequently, the Institute of the Indo-China Chemistry Institute turned towards the direction of "left-wing peace", the Institute of the Dao Quang Dao sent troops abroad to contact anti-war groups, request the United States to withdraw troops, oppose the anti-anti-policy policy. Communist of the Republic of Vietnam, demanding peace. Hoa Dao Dao Quang appointed Venerable Nhat Hanh to be the Head of Peace Mission next to Hoa Dam Paris.

Indo Quang is a famous Tang school, supplying much to the demand of developing Buddhism in the South. But from half of 1966 onward, Indo Quang was forced to be a fighting place for those who preferred to fight. In 1967, I convened 8 Cults and Associations in Vietnam Quoc Tu, announced my resignation as Director of the Institute of Chemistry of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam. The Congress nominated Venerable Thich Thien Tuong (the South) to replace me as director. And, this Congress realized that the Charter of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam was advocated for "uniting", destroying the denominations, so the Congress amended the Charter, in accordance with Cults and Societies. This amendment Charter was notified to the government of President Nguyen Van Thieu. President Nguyen Van Thieu signed the decree 23/67 on July 18, 1967,

After retreating from the Institute of Chemistry, I returned to my Tu Quang Vung Tau pagoda, enjoying the natural scenery, easing my worries and hardships.

In Saigon, the Reunification Church launched a struggle movement, demanding that the Charter be not amended. (It is absurd, Indo Quang has only three denominations, although Buddhist monks and nuns have a large number. Vietnam Quoc Tu has 8 denominations, and the Association - though few people - still has the right to amend the Charter, not must cancel the Charter).

Suddenly, one day at about 7 pm, some monks at An Quang pagoda, supported by pro-Indian mandarins with guns, such as Kieu Mong Thu, etc., broke into Vietnam. Venerable Venerable Thich Thien Tuong, together with many monks, took him to An Quang pagoda. The next day, the Buddhist Chaplain's House intervened, inviting the Indo Quang Quang to leave Vietnam. After that, the Unified Church (PG) in Vietnam Quoc Tu again had to nominate Venerable Thich Minh Thanh (Male) to be the President.

Still not alone. Another day, at dusk, the Indo Quang faction brought people, brought weapons, re-occupied Vietnam Quoc Tu again. This time they captured all of them, took all their belongings, many sewing machines from Vietnam Quoc Tu and burned a row of houses on the left of Quoc Tu. The Buddhist Chaplain's house has to intervene again to restore order.

After this incident, the Unified Church in Vietnam Quoc Tu had to nominate Venerable Thich Tam Giac, the director of the Buddhist Chaplain's House, and concurrently the director of the new Institute of Chemistry.

Twice India Quang raided Vietnam Quoc Tu as above, who asked to make a mess for the history of Vietnamese Buddhism?

The incident was clear and clear, which the Indians' fighting group, with the underground support of the Communists located in the region, slandered Vietnam to divide the Church by itself, Thich Tam Chau sabotaged and In accordance with the proverb of Vietnam, it is often said: "Playing the drum while stealing and robbing at the same time is the village". Crowded, grabbed meat, dressed in slander, manipulated without regard for cause and effect!

Until the monks did not know anything about the struggle, the building of the Church, as well as the monks and nuns, Buddhists from afar, or later, also followed, following the propaganda of the skull. The fight group Indo Quang and communist have been in the region for 30 years. Poor thing!

To be frank, the National War in Vietnam, without a religion, a union, is not divided by the communists. Christianity has local officials such as Vu Ngoc Nha, Huynh Van Trong, etc. Buddhism is the same, communist is located from the upper reaches to the lower levels, the easier it is.

Indeed, the struggle from June 1966 to the present division of the Church, both directed by the communists, harmed Buddhism and the Vietnamese nation no small. Therefore, Buddhism is not without responsibility, regarding the loss of the RVN to the communist. In this regard, the Venerable Thich Huyen Quang himself often repeated: CS once stated: "Indo Buddhist Buddhism has twice contributed to the Revolution".

Conciliation Issues Conciliation and subsequent incidents

In the early 1970s, Paris peace negotiations were approaching a bargain in favor of the communists. In Vietnam, the Indo Quang faction led by Venerable Tri Quang established the National reconciliation movement. led by Mr. Vu Van Mau as the leader. This movement was not approved by the two monks, Thien Minh and Huyen Quang. Because these two monks did not agree with the National Harmony Reconciliation movement, Venerable Tri Quang and his group launched a cruel campaign to smear Thien Minh and Huyen Quang. Also because of this campaign, during one year, Unified India Quang Church could not convene the Congress to elect the position of Director of the Institute of Chemistry because Venerable Thien Hoa passed away, causing Venerable Thich Tri Thu As a General Director must stand up to handle the standing.

The situation turned completely unfavorable for the Republic of Vietnam. April 30, 1975 was the final day of the RVN regime. But the face of the CS has been revealed clearly, no one is unknown.

- When the Communists came from the forest to Saigon, there were nearly 500 monks and nuns of the Indo Quang struggle faction to welcome them.

- On May 19, 1975, the Indo Quang faction celebrated his birthday at An Quang Pagoda.

- Political consultations unite the North and the South of the Communist Party, a monk of the Indo Quang faction made a speech to flatter the communist regime, recount the Indies Quang and attack the Buddhist Chaplain and Thich Tam Chau Church .

-In around 1980, 1981, the Most Venerable Thich Tri, Head of the Indian Institute of Chemistry and the highest ranking of the An Quang struggle, actively campaigned to establish and participate in the Vietnam Buddhist Church at Quan Pagoda. Porcelain (Hanoi), which is often called "state church" or "State church". Only the monks: Thien Minh, Huyen Quang, Duc Nhuan, Quang Do and a small number of others disagreed, so they were arrested or killed.

Around 1986 and 1987, Mr. Gorbachev, general secretary of the Soviet Communist Party's policy of openness, in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam also followed that policy. After that, CSism disintegrated in Russia, in Eastern Europe, in Vietnam, the form of diversion was a necessity for their survival. They have allowed the temples to have some religious activities, paid some facilities for the temples, some young monks and nuns to study Buddhism. And maybe at the beginning of their experiment, they gave some people, demanded democratic freedom, to easily identify those who were determined to fight, so that they could be eliminated later.

The Venerable Thich Don Hau has launched the Unified Buddhist movement abroad and the Venerable Thich Huyen Quang continues that career.

In the United States also held headlining. In the end there were two or three Unified Churches. In Europe, many sects operate separately.

But there are a number of temples, with middle-aged and young monks, united into the European Unified Church. In Australia, the number of Vietnamese refugees is about 150,000, the Unified Church of Australia and New Zealand has been formed, with the small number of monks and nuns, the number of pagodas per ten places and the number of temples. Buddhists go to the temples, together with about 7, 8 thousand people. The internal church is unstable and seems complicated.

The Venerable Thich Huyen Quang in Vietnam is emerging, reclaiming the name and the restoration of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam. The Venerable is a full-fledged, experienced person with communism. I really respect the monk. I wrote a letter of encouragement to the monk. I always pray for the venerable deeds to be fulfilled successfully.

The current struggle in Vietnam led by Venerable Huyen Quang is extremely difficult. Difficult by many intrigues and tricks of old Thich Tri Quang, located in the State Church, hindered. Difficult by currently surrounded CS. Difficulties within Indo-India Unity Church "Collective right of discrimination" is not good for other Buddhist sects. And there may be difficulties with other religions, through profound observations. (7)

However, CS is the common enemy of humanity. Mankind eliminates private guilt and actively serves the cause. Righteousness wins. CSism is inescapable from the law of elimination, and must certainly yield to the liberal, democratic regime of the entire Vietnamese people.

Conclude

The teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha have been imbued in the hearts of Vietnamese people for nearly two thousand years. Buddhism has harmonized with the prosperity and destiny of the nation. Buddhism has produced talented people in the cause of national salvation and national construction. But sometimes, Buddhism is also the character trust, dependence, discrimination, lack of insight, lack of joy, causing devastation for religion and the country no less.

Buddhism respects the absolute freedom of mastery, not advocating "centralization" for an individual or a group of people. Because whenever there is centralization, there is dictatorship, sectarian, and tactics to consolidate power.

For nearly a century now, humanity has suffered to the extreme by the "centralization" of communist. Thirty years this Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam has a policy of "centralization", has not seen the hope of harmony and peace for the masses. Vietnamese Buddhism in the United States is constantly in the split, there are two, three organizations united. Vietnamese Buddhism in Australia, "centralized" unified in the hands of a character of greed, lack of virtue, sectarianism, discrimination against Central and North, harming fellow believers, despite nearly hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese Buddhists Nam was seriously hurt!

Oh, Vietnamese Buddhism!

Oh, Vietnamese Buddhism!

Who causes much suffering,

The universe begged to suppress!

" Near the end of the letter, Dai-Duc Thich-Quang-Thanh with integrity-integrity wrote: "So far our brothers compare Venerable Thich-Tri-Quang with the character" MUSIC-REAL-QUARTER ", in the famous novel of Kim-Dung. The Music-Real-Quan is the Grand Master of a famous martial art and was called by the Wanderers as the" army of death-swords ", because of the fighting style and the sword path. his very military-death. However everyone is wrong. After a period of several decades, he revealed his true identity as a "pseudo-military death", with wicked and vicious tricks and tricks. "

(6) Slandering me to eat US dollars, monks, nuns, Buddhists in the Central region told me and recently there was a Hue Buddhist, being in Australia, also confirmed to me that there was propaganda. In Saigon, it was Dai-Duc Ho-Giac (now the Venerable) telling me that the Venerable Tri-Quang spoke to the Council for Chemistry. Venerable says that Venerable Venerable heard that!

(7) In the review application of the Most Venerable Huyen-Quang, sent to the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State of Vietnam, on June 24, 1992, the Venerable Master wrote: "- The Fa period came to Vietnam to establish the Giap Meditation Association for the second time .-- Ngo-Dinh-Diem founded the Ancient Church of Son-Mon.
