  CONCRETE.

VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.

Pure Land Buddhism is a sect that specializes in practicing to get to the Pure Land. So what is the pure land? Where is that realm? Pure means pure, and degrees are national degrees. Pure Land is the realm where there is only purity, beings there are not afflicted. All the realms of the Buddhas are pure land, but this sect selects the monastic discipline of the pure land of Amitabha Buddha. The Buddha Shakyamuni taught that: In the time of the Dharma, one attained the meditation practice; in the legal image, one achieves meditation and in the time the Dharma ends, one accomplishes the Pure Land method. Mr. Long Tho wrote the treatise Dai Tri Do, in the opening discourse on the Pure Land method, which teaches: "Reciting the three samsara can eliminate afflictions and sins of the previous life. karma, can not eliminate karma, there is a subject to eliminate karma, cannot eliminate karma. There are subjects except the three poisonous, greed, hatred, si, can not except the previous sins. Mon recite the Buddha's eight sam can eliminate the negativity and the crime. Again, reciting the Buddha's eight samadhi has great merit, or sentient beings. Chu Bo-slaps want to kill the crime, get a lot of merit, early beings, no more than cultivating recitation of Buddha. He further taught: If you have not entered the Bo-slaps of the Bodhisattva, have not been signed, have not yet come to the throne of Real Change, but are separated from the Buddhas, they will sink in the sea of afflictions, lose all their roots! Thus, was unable to his level, how can beings? For example, someone who used an unstable boat to carry people, when facing strong winds and waves, all boats would be damaged, and we and everyone will drown. Like a person who brought a kettle of boiling water to a pond of snow and ice, wanted to let the lake of ice and snow dissipate, only slightly melted initially, Eventually the boiling water itself will become ice and snow. Bodhisattva has not entered into Dharma, but away from Buddhas is like that! If the Bodhisattva is not strong enough, not enough means, wants to use a little merit to turn out the sentient beings, the benefits may be somewhat, but on the contrary, you will be lost. The following story illustrates the above:

There are three Bodhisattvas, who are Vo Tien, The Body and Su Giac, who meditate deeply to resolve the determination of being born together and come back to the Quarry. The three of them made the same promise, if anyone who was born to the Interior saw Maitreya first, must return to inform the brothers. Su Tu Giac passed away in advance, spent a long time, did not return to report. Next he became impermanent; When he died, Before the Bodhisattva told him: 'After you have an audience with Maitreya, you must come back to let me know right away.' The Body Bodhisattva passed away then three years later to return to the news. The Venerable Sir asked, 'Why are you announcing this late?' The Body replied, 'After praying to Maitreya and listening to the sermon on the teaching, I respectfully walk three times and then come back here to report. Because one day and night in Tushu is equal to 400 years in the world, it's only three years late. ' Before I asked, 'Where is the Lion King still?'

 Origination Tong Lap

Pure classics based on nothing to establish? The classics that Pure Land Buddhism has adopted are many. Here we would like to give just a few basic sutras, often mentioned only. They are the following:

1.-  Amitayus Sutra : This Sutta is recorded in 48 vows of Amitabha, when he was still a Buddhist monk named Dharma. The content of these 48 vows is that, after becoming a Buddha, he will establish a very solemn and very pure country to lead the sentient beings in the ten directions of the World, if these beings often recite. his name and often pray to be reborn in his pure land.

2.- The Quan Am Infinite Life:  This sutta records 16 Dharma and 9 Products, to teach those who pray to be reborn in the Pure Land.

3.- Amitabha Sutta: This sutta describes the realm of the Pure Land, the solemn (Pure Land) that makes people admire and vow to cultivate according to the method of `` reciting the Buddha's name until their hearts are unmatched '' to be reborn in that realm. .

Three business on this is the main business; ancient people often called "the three Pure Land Sutras". In addition, there are other sutras such as:

The Buu Sutta records the Buddha's work for the King of Sanskrit and seventy thousand people in his kin, saying the method of `` reciting the Buddha's name '' to begets for the Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Business of the Buddha, Amitabha Sutta, the Sutta Dharma Board, reciting the Buddha's name, the Sūtra, the Sūtra, the Sūtra, etc.

The Pure Land teachings spread to China very early, but it was not until the Dong Tan period that Hue-telecom monk succeeded him to propagate the religion, so this religion became popular. He was the first ancestor in China. After that, the famous masters such as Mr. Dam Loan, Mr. Dao Xuoc, Mr. Thien-director, etc. all use this method of cultivation, and cultivate and transform many people and forever pass it on to this day.

 The Four Pure Land Realms

are not one, but many realms. Standing on the analytical aspect, from sacrifice to crude, can be divided into the following 4 Pure Land realms:

1. Ordinary Pure Optical: This is the realm where the Dharmakaya Buddha dwells. '' Often '' is unaltered, unborn, that is, the Dharmakaya Buddha; '' President '' is far removed from the defilements of defilement, that is, the Buddha's liberation; '' Quang '' is the illumination throughout the ten directions, that is, the Buddha's Bat-elegant. Thus, this Pure Land realizes all three treasures of Buddha, namely, Ordinary, President and Quang, so it is called `` Ordinary Pure Light ''.

This Pure Land scene has no image but only the mind. Because the true mind, or the nature of enlightenment, '' is often quiet, shining and pure '', it should be called `` Pure Light of Pure Land ''. When Buddhas have already witnessed this realm, the body and the second degree, but because of the three following Pure Land, it is called having the body and the degree. Notary to this place,

Jing Jing Jing, about the words will be written: Tu Nhon happy about teachers, when the fullness of mercy, the frustration of Dieu Giac (Buddha) will be in the realm of `` Ordinary Pure Light ''.

2. The serious Pure Land newspaper:  Practitioners go through three lives of accumulation of merit and virtue accumulated by virtue of their many spiritual lives, making the solemn realm of truth so called `` True-serious solemn Pure Land ''. This Pure Land realm is the abode of Buddha's Body. Business Quan countless text on the text will have the words: "Practice true feet", feel good results, so called "" The solemn newspaper ". On the Mahayana teacher, this realm is of the Three Sages (Head, Hanh, Direction); and outside the Mahayana Mahayana teachings, this is the realm of beings from the Decade to the Enlightenment Bodhisattva.

3. Residual vehicle of Pure Land: This Pure Land scene is not the ultimate end, but only the means. This is the Pure Land of the Second Vehicle. Although they have finished or or from the three realms (sex world, gender identity and formless gender), but there are two left either: ignorance or and sa or, not yet deducted, should be called "" surplus "." It is "" residual "" that is not completely saved, so call this Pure Land the "Pure surplus property".

4. Holy co-inhabitants of the Pure Land:  This is the pure land of the Buddha Amitabha in the West. Already called the Pure Land, or Ultimate Bliss, however there are enough of the pure-solemn virtue, no four evil beasts. But this is because the Buddha, the Bodhisattva and the good people (saints) living with newly born beings, have not yet attained the holy fruit (divine) so they are called ''

Because the majority of Vietnamese and Chinese Buddhists, while cultivating the Pure Land method, all vow to be born in this Pure Land, that is, the Land of Amitabha Buddha, so here we ask According to the sutta `` Small Patron Amitabha '' recounts what Buddha Shakyamuni described about the realm of this Pure Land: `` ... From this Ta-she realm, just to the West, ago more than ten Buddha realms, there is a world called Ultimate Bliss. The teacher in that world was Buddha Amitabha, who used to say the dharma. That realm has 7 layers of verse (wall-flower) seven layers of webs, seven beautiful trees, with a lake filled with eight merits. The bottom of the lake is all yellow sand. The four sides of the lake are filled with jewels and jewels. In the lake there are four-color lotus with large wheels, fragrant scent, every color has a luminous aura. Around the lake, rise to the magnificent, beautiful castles made entirely of false security.

In the air, mixed with sacred music, there were birds chirping, presented by Buddha, to lecture for six times to the people. The listener then immediately started to recite Buddha's name, recite Dharma, and recite the Sangha. Not only the sound of birds, but also the sound of flowing water, the wind blowing, and the trees ringing, they also emitted magical sounds.

The realm of such beautiful, solemn Bliss is due to the merit of Buddha Amitabha who is the lord of that realm and the Bodhisattvas and Saints together. The Chinese word Amitabha translates as `` Amitayus longevity '', or `` Amitabha '', meaning that this Buddha lived for a long time and the aura of illumination did not.

Three dishes from salary to birth Pure Land

To be reborn, to the Pure Land, the practitioner must prepare the following three elements: Faith, Vow and Action. These three factors are often referred to as three Luong (Luong Phan Street). If a dish is missing, one cannot practice it effectively.

1. What is "" Faith ":  Faith is a solid faith, unshakable. Faith is very important and necessary for spiritual practitioners. Kinh-Nghiem taught: `` Believing that the mother gives birth to merit ''. Through faith, the Bodhi fruit can be achieved.

Tin has three parts:

a) Buddha's message: Believing that Buddha is a wise person, knows the wise things, knows the past, the present and the future, sees the rest of the world, knows the dhammas clearly. Believing that compassion wants to save suffering, birth and death for sentient beings, Buddha Shakyamuni said the method of reciting the Buddha's name, so that all beings who practice according to him will be reborn in the Pure Land. Believing that the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha were not spoiled, Buddha Amitabha and the Pure Land were all real.

b) Believing the Dharma:  Believing that the practice of reciting Buddha's name is a method that is easy to cultivate, easy to witness, and sure. Believing that the Amitabha's 48 vows are fully effective in saving sentient beings, and if we practice them correctly, we will surely be reborn in the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha.

c) Believe me: Believing that we have enough ability and energy to practice this dharma. Believing that if we practice exactly as Buddha Shakyamuni taught in the Amitabha Sutta, constantly honoring the name of Amitabha Buddha, until we are `` single-mindedly rebellious '', we will be sure of how we die when we die will be born in the pure land.

2. What is a "vow":  May it be a promise, a desire, a will, a desire to do true things. May the attraction of the magnet stones, the wind sails of the boat, the pinwheel of the plane. May prayer be the motivation for people to practice quickly to the goal.

Such an important vow, so one should make a vow to be steadfast, always patient, and persevere in the practice of reciting the Buddha's name, day and night reciting Buddha's name constantly, earnestly desiring to be born in the Pure Land of Buddha Amitabha.

In order to have an idea of the word `` vow '', we would like to quote the following three prayers, of the 48 prayers of Amitabha Buddha, when

he was a Dharma Bodhisattva - '' After we become Buddha , beings in the ten directions a favorite, want to return to our realms, from one concept to ten, if that being is not reborn, then we swear not to become Chief-Awareness, except for the sinners contradictory and disparaging Dharma. ''

- '' If we become a Buddha, beings of the ten precepts, generate the Bodhi mind, cultivate merit, and one aspiration, wanting to be reborn in our country, suppose we do not appear with the masses. in the eyes of that being, my vow not to become Chief-awareness. ''

- "If we become a Buddha, sentient beings in the ten directions hear our name, specialize in reciting our realms, and if we are not satisfied, then we swear we won't become Chief-Awareness".

3. What is `` Onion '': Onion is practice, follow. If believing (believing) but not desiring or desiring (praying) is just plain and useless news. But if desire, desire (vow) but not to do (onions), then only desire, desires desires, does not come to nothing. Therefore, Tin, May, Onions these three basic elements must always have enough, be eligible for rebirth in the Pure Land. Just like a prostrate, you must have three legs to be stable, lacking one leg, all of which must fall.

 Method of Pure Land

After we have prepared all three elements or three fourths of the Pure Land, we must immediately elaborate it. But in order for it to be effective, we need to understand the austerities method. Still know that the practice of reciting Buddha's name is a very relaxed method, just reciting Buddha's name is enough. But there are many ways to recite Buddha's name. We would like to lead some of the following methods:

1. Tri-list recitation of Buddha:  In this way of reciting Buddha's name, the practitioner is only dedicated to reciting the name of Amitabha Buddha. Every day from the moment he wakes up to the time he goes to sleep, he has to remember to recite. When walking, while standing, while lying down, sitting, eating, before sleeping, one should never forget to recite Buddha's name. In addition to wanting to be more effective, practitioners need to add the method of `` Buddhist Sutta to Recite Buddha '' (see Buddhist prayerfulness of chanting). Every time after reciting, the practitioner will dedicate to Pure Land.

2. Tham-save reciting Buddha's name: In this way of practice, practitioners must refer to the study-consider the Buddhist concept. As when reciting `` Namo Amitabha Buddha '', the practitioner must contemplate this recitation from where he came and where he will come from? Whose mindfulness is reciting etc.? Thanks to his attentive attention to such a recitation of the Buddha's name, the delusion will gradually subside, the water of kindness will appear, the yogi will be `` single-mindedly rebellious '', until he dies, he will be born about the Buddha realm. This concept of reciting Buddha's name is similar to the method of consulting the sentence "with the first voice" in Zen-Ton, so it is called "taking part in reciting the Buddha's name".

3. Contemplating reciting the Buddha's name:
In this way of practice, the practitioner attends the Buddha's image attentively.

The practitioner sits in front of the Buddha image, attentively contemplating, observing the good generals who associate the qualities of Buddha. As when contemplating the eyes of the Buddha, then thinking of the wisdom of Buddha; When contemplating the gentle smile of Buddha, then think of the virtue of compassion and joy of Buddha. Through the wisdom of the Buddha that the Si nature of the practitioner fades; thanks to the Buddha 's compassionate dharma, one's temperament diminishes gradually ... Every time you add a virtue of Buddha' s good qualities, one 's bad nature is reduced. The nature of the Buddha is like a ray of the sun, the bad nature of the practitioner is like a stain; The more the sun's rays and the longer it shines, the faster the ink stain fades. In short, thanks to the attention of the good generals on the image of the Buddha, virtues such as compassion, joy, equanimity, and compassion are practiced and instilled in the mind of the practitioner; For a long time, the practitioner mind will be cleared

4. Contemplation of reciting Buddha's name:  In this way, the practitioner sits still, even though there is no Buddha image in front of him, but he contemplates having Buddha Amitabha, standing tall on the lotus , radiating aura like a golden silk, covering her entire body. Practitioners sit upright, put their hands together, and think that they are sitting on a lotus seat, guided by Buddha. Practitioners focus on contemplating like that forever; go, stand, lie, sit also do not stop thinking, until you open your eyes or close your eyes, you will see the Buddha, that is, the dharma is mature. When death, practitioners will certainly be reborn in the Pure Land.

In the Buddhist Sutta the eight samadhi records that: 'Buddha for the Father, said the Dharma-idea of white light ...' '. Quan-thought-white-white means the shop-thought white feathers have a shining aura, between the eyebrows of Buddha, like a full moon, clear as jade. This is a method of contemplating the Buddha.

5. Truly reciting the Buddha's name:  Being truly mindful of reciting Buddha's name is reciting the Buddha's name that has reached the true nature of the mind. Chon mind does not kill, not past, not spoiled, so called "true minister".

In the legal concept of reciting the Buddha's name, the previous four dharmas belong to the practice, with reciting the mind; and the fifth dharma (truthfulness of reciting the Buddha's name) is of logic: no longer reciting is still cultivated, no longer has the power, is superior. Reciting Buddha's name until this place is completely new.

But, practitioners must always remember that: thanks to the new, Li. First of all, we have to practice the four dharmas to recite until we are mature and no longer find ourselves as a mindful person, Buddha is a recollected mind, only a silent mind shines, is not skilled, compassionate, does not possess, does not no. Come to this place, the Sutta Da called "be single-mindedly any disorder". Kinh Tu decade Children chapter; "to recite thoughts without thought, is to chant thoughts."

In the year of reciting the Buddha's name, from the past to the present, the Pure Land practitioner, often choosing the method of renunciation, is a method that is easily practiced by the practitioner, at which level, the practitioner, at any place, at any time, also can practice. What a very hateful method. END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.11/6/2020.
