At one time, the Buddha resided in Ky Vien pagoda, the pagoda offered by Mr. Cap Lon. A monk named Rādha came to see Buddha and said,
“What does the White Satta word mean? Please explain to me clearly. ”
Buddha answered:
" Hey Rādha, satta means beings, who also have craving, clinging to the material aggregates (Rūpakkhanda: the aggregates). And the craving for attachment to material phenomena is also called satta . ”
The first meaning, Satta, is a being with craving and attachment. Craving, attachment includes levels of craving, attachment, attachment, attachment. All have the same meaning as craving,
The second meaning, in the form of a verb, Satta means "to be attached to". "Whether oil is attached to matter in an interesting way or naturally attached to matter is also attached." And attachment is caused by delusion.
If we analyze it wisely, we will see what is the material of this body? The human body is a collection of many physical components. We can divide the human body into thirty-two components. The first twenty parts belong to the group Paṭhavīdhātu (modern earth). The earth group has soft and firm characteristics. Why call the first twenty components the soil group because the soil element predominates. The other three factors are Āpodhātu (water age), Tejodhātu (fire,) and Vāyodhātu ( wind energy ).
Twenty soil components include:
Hair, hair, teeth, skin,
meat, tendon, bone, marrow, kidney,
heart, liver, intestine, spleen,
Pheo lung , stomach, undigested food, portion, brain
Hair, when looking closely, we also see four elements, but the most prominent element is stiff, so hair is classified in the first group, the geographical group. Also, the remaining nineteen components, due to their outstanding soft and hard elements, are also classified into the modern domain.
At the contemplation of the material, the yogi perceives the hard element, having experienced the earth. Similarly, the fire element is experienced when sensing the temperature. The wind element is experienced when feeling tension, vibration, expansion, and the water element is experienced when feeling sticky, wet.
When paying attention to observing matter through the four elements, let us focus on their characteristics of being soft, sticky, hot, cold, moving, not paying attention to the concept, shape, or posture of them.
Why so? Without paying attention to the characteristics of the four elements, but paying attention to the concept, shape, and posture, the yogi mind will wander with the notion: this is man, woman, hair, fur, nails, legs, hands etc ... In the practice of Vipassana Meditation, we must focus on observing the four elements and ignore the concept of institutions such as the legs, hands, face, nose, men and women ... The mind is the natural phenomena of the four elements.
The next twelve components are:
Bile, phlegm, pus, blood, sweat, fat,
Tears, oily water, saliva, nasal water, joint water, urine
These elements or components have a liquid, sticky nature, which should be incorporated into the ocean.
We can recognize fire in our bodies. There are four types of fire.
- Body temperature and
- The heat makes the body think, old
- The temperature is too high which makes us uncomfortable and complain that it is too hot.
- The temperature needed to digest food.
The four main types of temperatures are hot and cold. Therefore, when paying attention to great fire, we only pay attention to temperature characteristics, not so much.
There are six types of wind:
- upward wind makes you vomit
- downward wind helps urinate and pass out
- intestinal
wind - outside wind but inside abdomen
- all body effects such as walking, standing, sitting, contracting, stretching, etc.
- breath in and out
All six types of wind have expansion and vibration characteristics, nothing can be called me, me, the soul, an eternal object, men, women, brothers, sisters, etc.
We spoke briefly about the four elements and know that this body is just a collection of the four elements.
When the "great" gather, we have the shape. And if we do not look with the eyes of the intellect then we will add to that me, me, man, woman etc. ... Because of this misconception, attachment arises in our mind. In fact, our bodies are compared as " bubbles on the water " consisting of water bubbles whose existence is the internal air. At first glance, we can see that they are a solid mass, but if we look closely we will see that they are just temporary bubbles of material.
Also, when we look at the physical body with the naked eye we see that it is stable, long-lasting, attractive, beautiful with separate parts such as the head, limbs, etc. as a being. In the eyes of non-meditators, this body is an enduring, loving, controllable entity with the self, the self added into it. And so they will be attached to them cravingly. However, in the eyes of the meditator, this body is just an empty bubble, with no core, nothing inside, they are just a collection of thirty disgusting elements, there is no What everlasting and beautiful.
That is how to observe the physical body through the wisdom of the Vipassana practitioner. The Buddha taught that:
" Strong attachment to material phenomena, Tathagata calls it satta ", meaning beings, who also craving for material phenomena. " END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.24/5/2020.
