Compassionate Life.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
If we want to be happy, it is important to strive to develop positive and helpful sides in each of us and resolutely eliminate the negative ones. When doing negative things, such as stealing and lying, it can sometimes give us some short-lived feelings of satisfaction, but later on it will be lasting suffering. Positive actions always give us inner strength. With inner strength, we will be less afraid and more confident, easily open to others without any obstacles, whether it is a religious, cultural or any obstacle do not be afraid. Thus, realizing our abilities both on the good and the bad, then observing and analyzing them carefully is paramount. I call this the development of human values. My main concern is always seeking to develop an understanding of the profound values of people. That value is love, care and dedication. No matter what your religion is, and whether you are a believer or a believer, without it you cannot be happy.
Loving
Kindness and a generous heart form the basis for our success in this life, our progress on the spiritual path, and the fulfillment of our ultimate aspiration: witness attain full enlightenment. Therefore, loving kindness and a generous heart are important not only in the beginning but also in the middle and the end. Their necessity and value are not limited to any particular time, space, society or culture.
Thus, we need love and love not only to live, but because they are also the ultimate source of success in life. The selfish ways of thinking not only harm others, but also prevent the happiness that we ourselves desire.
Develop compassion
Before we can generate compassion, it is important to understand what compassion is. Simply put, compassion is positive thoughts and thoughts, which give rise to life's necessities such as hope, courage, determination and inner strength. In the Buddhist tradition, compassion is understood in two aspects in the same matter: the word is the desire for others to be free from suffering; compassion is helping them to be happy.
The next issue to know is whether compassion can be developed or not. In other words, is there any way by which these qualities of mind can be grown and subtracted from craving, aversion, or ignorance? I definitely said "Yes"! And if you disagree with me right now, you need to expand that development. Let's consider a few experiences; maybe we'll find a few answers.
The first is that we can divide everything happiness and suffering into two main things: mind and body. Of these two, the mind is the one that makes the most profound impact on most of us. Unless we are seriously ill or deprived of basic necessities, our physical conditions play a secondary role in life. If our body is satisfied, we hardly notice it. However, the mind records all facts, whatever. Therefore, we should make every effort to create inner peace rather than to satisfy the body. Mind can be changed. From my own experience, I believe that through constant training we can truly develop our minds. Our positive attitudes, ideas and opinions can be developed and negative things can be eliminated. Although a single concept of perception is based on many factors, and when we change these different factors, our minds change. This is an easy fact to understand about the nature of mind.
What we call "mind" is very special. Sometimes it is very stubborn and very difficult to change. Nonetheless, with constant effort and trust based on our minds, our minds are sometimes completely pure and easily converted. When we truly realize that there is a need to change, our minds can change. Just wishing and praying will not transform your mind; You also need reason, reason is based on your own experience. But you will not be able to convert your mind overnight. Old habits, especially those of the mind, will resist hasty solutions. But with constant effort and trust based on wisdom, you can definitely achieve profound changes in your mind.
As the basis for the transformation, we need to realize that as long as we live in this world, we will still face these and other issues, things that hinder the completion of the mind. our vows. When these things happen, if we lose hope and become depressed then we lose the ability to face these difficulties. On the contrary, if we remember that not only we but everyone suffer, this is a more realistic view that develops our resolute will and ability to overcome obstacles. By thinking of others' suffering, by showing compassion to others, our suffering will become more easily transformed. In fact, with this attitude of life, every new obstacle can be seen as a valuable opportunity to change our mind, More opportunities to increase our compassion! With each new experience, we can strive gradually and become more compassionate; that is, we can develop genuine sympathy for the suffering of others and will help to transform their suffering. As a result of this, our own serenity and inner strength will be developed. Increasing the love of self will prevent our love for others and we all suffer because of it at one level or another. Because in order to have true happiness, we need to have a calm mind, and such peace of mind happens only with a loving attitude. How can we develop this attitude? Obviously, simply believing that compassion is important and thinking it is good is not enough. We need to do our best to develop it; We must use all the facts in our daily lives to transform our thoughts and attitudes.
First of all, we need to understand clearly what compassion we mean. There are many forms of compassion mixed with attachment. For example, parents' love for their children is often closely linked to their own emotional requirements, and so it is not complete compassion. Usually, when we worry about a close friend, we consider it kindness, but that is usually attachment.
Even in marriage, the love between husband and wife - especially in the beginning, when one person still does not know the other's personality - is more of a love affair than a genuine love. There are marriages that only exist for a short time because they lack charity; they are created by the craving that is based on intention and expectation, and every time the intention changes, the craving disappears. Our craving can be so strong that those who we crave, he or she looks always perfect, when in fact he has many flaws. In addition, craving makes us exaggerate our personality in an unrealistic way. Every time this happens, it shows that our love is more driven by personal need than by genuine concern for others. Loving love is not like that. Therefore, We need to recognize the differences between compassion and love. True compassion is not entirely an emotional response but a firm commitment based on reason. With this solid foundation, our genuine love for others does not change even when they treat us badly. Genuine love is not based on our intentions and expectations, but rather on other people's expectations, regardless of whether the other person is a close friend or an enemy. As long as the other person desires peace, happiness and the desire to overcome suffering, on that basis, we develop genuine interest in their problems. This is true love. For a Buddhist, the purpose to develop true compassion is this genuine wish for the benefit of others, the truth is for all beings in the universe. Of course, developing this genuine compassion is not easy at all! Let's take a closer look at this issue.
Whether people are beautiful or ugly, friendly or rude, they are still the same person as we are after all. Like us, they want happiness and don't like suffering. Moreover, the right to overcome their suffering and achieve their happiness is equal to ours. Now when you realize that all sentient beings are equal in their desire for happiness and their right to happiness, you naturally feel sympathy and closeness to them. By making your mind familiar with this vast altruism, you develop a sense of responsibility towards others; You are eager to help them overcome their problems. This wish has no selection; It applies equally to all species. As long as they still experience peace and suffering just like you,
There is a point I need to make here that a few people, especially those who consider themselves very real people, sometimes too realistic and obsessed with that fact, might think, " The idea of wanting to bring happiness to all sentient beings, the idea of wanting to bring about good for everyone is unrealistic and too idealistic. Such an unrealistic idea cannot contribute to mind transformation or moral development because it is completely impossible to implement. ”
The more effective method, they might think, is to start with a group of close people with whom we have direct influence. Then we can expand and increase that group of people. They found it completely ineffective to care for all beings, because beings are infinite. They may notice that there is some connection with some people on this planet, but they find that the infinite number of beings throughout the universe to view as individuals cannot be experienced by them. They may ask, "What is the point of trying to train the mind and try to include all beings in it?"
In other contexts, that may be a valuable objection. However, the important thing here is to understand the influence in that altruistic training. The purpose is to try to develop our sympathy, in such a way we can extend it to any form of life with the ability to feel suffering and to experience conduct. blessed. That is the problem of recognizing sentient beings, and thus suffering and possibly happiness.
Such a universal love is very strong. In this view, it is like understanding the universal nature of impermanence. When we develop the perception to see that all things are impermanent, we do not need to consider each and every thing existing in the universe in order to believe it. That's not the way to work with intelligence. To realize this value is really important.
It is our inner power that develops this universal kind of love. Of course, our ego, our special attachment to feeling a solid "I", basically acts to block our loving kindness. Truly, true love can only be felt when this attachment is eradicated. But this does not mean that we cannot begin to practice compassion and begin to perform the practice immediately.
Because kindness and a good heart are developed through constant effort and awareness, it is important for us first to recognize the favorable conditions that give rise to our good qualities, and then realize the adverse circumstances that hinder our development of these positive mental states. Therefore, to live a life of mindfulness and awareness is a very important cigarette for us. Thus, we should be mindful so that whenever a new situation arises, we can immediately recognize whether it is favorable or detrimental to the development of compassion. By pursuing loving kindness in such a way, we can gradually reduce the effects of the hindering capacities and develop conditions conducive to the development of compassion. Great compassion I believe is present in all walks of life. The secret to a successful and happy world is the development of compassion. We do not need to become believers, nor do we need to believe in a separate ideology. What is needed for each of us is to develop our good qualities. I believe that the practice of personal happiness can contribute to a profound and fruitful path to the transformation of the general public.
We all share the same need for love, and on this common basis, we can feel that anyone we meet, in any situation, is a brother or sister No matter how new you look and how you dress and behave differently, there's no noticeable division between them and others. It is unwise to rely only on differences on the outside, because we are all similar in nature.
Thus, the benefits of overcoming such external differences become more evident when we look at our common situation. After all, humankind is one and this tiny planet is our home. If we must protect our home, each of us needs to experience profound compassion and universal altruism. And this can eliminate the motivations for attachment that make people cheat and miserable each other.
The need for an open-air atmosphere and cooperation at a global level is becoming more urgent. In this day and age, resolving economic problems is no longer within the family or country. From nation to nation, from continent to continent, the interconnected world cannot be separated. This country depends on other countries. A nation to develop its own economy, it is imperative to pay attention to the economic conditions of other nations.
Because these facts are present throughout our present world, we need a total change in our thinking and habits. It is becoming more and more clear, that an existent economic system must be based on a universal sense of responsibility. In other words, what we need is a genuine enthusiasm for the principles of universal brotherhood. Is this too obvious? This is not just a religious, moral or religious idea. Rather than that, it is the reality of our human existence.
If you think really deeply, then obviously we need more loving kindness and altruism everywhere. This critical point can be judged by observing the current state of the world, whether in modern economic fields, health care, or in political or military situations. In addition to countless social and political crises, the world is also facing an ever-increasing cycle of natural disasters. Year after year, we have seen a radical change in global climate patterns that have serious consequences: excess rainfall in some countries has brought severe flooding, while the lack of rain in other countries has resulted in scorching drought. But still lucky, ecological and environmental concerns are growing fast everywhere. Now we are beginning to understand that the last question of environmental protection is a truly vital question for us on this planet. As human beings, we must also respect the members of our human family: our neighbors, our friends and so on ... Compassion, altruism and brotherhood are the key to not only human development but also the survival of this planet.
The success or failure of humanity in the future depends primarily on the will and determination of the current generation. If we ourselves do not use the power of our will and our mind, then no one else can protect our future and the future of the next generation. This is an undeniable truth. We cannot blame the politicians or those who are considered to be directly responsible for serious situations; We must also accept some personal responsibility. Only when we take personal responsibility will we begin to actively resolve the matter. Just complaining is not enough. A real change first comes from within each individual, after which he or she can try to make meaningful contributions to humanity. Altruism is not just religious thought; It is a need for human freedom.END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.24/5/2020.
