Sa Mon =THICH THIEN HOA.
Course I: BUDDHISM OF BUDDHISM
Lesson 8: GIVING THE BUDDHISM, MAINTENANCE, AND BUDDHISM  ..VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.

A. OPENING
Buddhists, if just worship, bow and worship Buddha, then can not be called a sincere. Devout Buddhists still have to chant, recite and recite Buddha's name. Besides, if we omit the three parts later, the previous three sections are worship, prostration and cozy worship can hardly use both the Truth and Reason. Because the Ly part is the sublime part of the practice, but if we do not chant, recite the Buddha's name so that our souls are clear, and realize the profound and miraculous arguments in the scriptures, we don't have any way to gained 4 prostrations belonging to Ly are: Developing pure tranquility, transforming the dharma precepts, conspiracy of the ceremony, being truly equal and having 5 wonderful incense dishes to worship Buddha are: About incense, Dinh Huong, Hue Huong, Liberation incense, Liberation tri ants incense. And if you cannot practice the four prostrations of Ly and make five wonderful incense offerings, then the prostration and offering are just the "The" part. is the formal part, and therefore it is hard for the believers to advance on the path. Therefore, at the same time with worshiping, bowing and worshiping Buddha, we have to chant, recite and recite Buddha's name. Those are the minimum basic points that a sincere Buddhist cannot ignore.
B. BACKGROUND
I. DEFINITIONS
1. Chanting:  Chanting is reading aloud in a rhythmic and respectful manner. Chanting is reverently reading the words the Buddha taught in the sutras, in accordance with the truth and the basis of sentient beings.
2. Mantra:  Tri is a firm hold. Note is the secret of the Buddhas that only the Buddhas can understand, but the Bodhisattva rows also do not understand. The mantras are imposing and unimaginable merit and virtue, can eradicate karma, eliminate accidents and increase blessings, so they are also called mantras.
3. Reciting Buddha:  Reciting is commemorating. To recite Buddha's name is to remember Buddha's name, to visualize Buddha and Buddha's virtue, to always try to follow His steps.
II. REASONS TO BE GIVING THE BUDDHISM - FRESH - CONCEPT OF BUDDHISM
1. Why chant sutras?
We live in the realm of sex, so our desires never stop, until in sleep, we also dream about arguing, laughing, and sorrow as we wake. In that lustful delusion, fortunately, the Buddha, having mercifully sentient beings, taught the golden words, which could shatter the gloomy cloud of ignorance and sin. But those lofty words we heard once and twice couldn't comprehend and remember. So we need to read it again and again, so that the profound meaning is radiated, and engraved in our hearts, never to be forgotten. That is why we have to chant prayers.
2. Why must you recite mantra?
He has extraordinary powers, if the sincere person maintains him, he has many unimaginable effects. For example, the mantra "The most unpleasant karma, the root cause of arising pureland, la-la-ni" has the effect of eliminating the root of karma, causing the person to be reborn in the Pure Land. The mantra "Kill the auspicious ears" has the effect of eliminating afflictions and bad things. The mantra of "Surangama" is to eliminate heavy demons and bad karma, etc. The mantra "Seven Buddhas that kill the sin" has the function of eliminating our crimes from many lifetimes and so on. That's why we have to recite the mantra.
3. Why recite Buddha's name?
Our mind is dulled by ignorance, just like the muddy water is muddy. Wanting to let the cloudy water turn out, there is no better method than to add a little bit of alum, then the muddy dirty substances gradually subside, then the cloudy water becomes clear.
The method of reciting the Buddha's name is the same, having the function of destroying the dark thoughts in our mind, making the mind bewitched and shady to become lucid, just like alum makes the water become so.
Why reciting the Buddha's name makes the mind in delusion clear?
For the following reason is easy to understand:
Our minds are very crazy, never stopping. Suttas often say: "The mind, the code", meaning "mind" wandering like ape jumping from branch to branch, and "mind" like a horse running around the whole day. How can our mind not be mean? The only way is to make him think good or beautiful things. To recite the Buddha's name is to remember the utterly beautiful people, pure actions, pure qualities. The more you recite the Buddha's name, the less you recite it. The ghost here is all that evil, dark, harming people. So we should always recite Buddha's name.
III. WHAT KIND OF ECONOMIC SETTINGS, WHAT HAPPENS AND BUDDHIST BEHAVIORS HAVE TO BE ENOUGH?
1. The litigation often.
Every Buddhist sutras can be chanted, since every sutta has the supernormal function of destroying ignorance, opening a lucid mind for sentient beings, if we read the recitation.
But because our inborn roots do not come, we have to choose the sutras that are appropriate to our roots and aspirations to recite.
Normally, Vietnamese Buddhists, from monks to monks, recite sutras such as: Di Da, Hong Danh, Vu Lan, Pho Mon, Medicine Masters, Jizō, Kim Cang, Lang Nghiem, Phap Hoa, etc. ..
Many people have the concept, choose the sutta to suit each situation, each case to chant, as at:
a) If we pray, we will recite the scriptures of Amitabha, Jizō, Vu Lan, etc;
b) If praying for peace, chanting Pho Mon, Su Du, etc .;
c) If defeating the ear and receiving medical treatment, chanting prayers of Kim Cang, Lang Nghiem, etc.;
d) If praying for repentance, recite Hong Danh.
Such a concept of choice is also somewhat good that the most specialized mind will be more effective. But we should not forget that in terms of doctrine and merit, regardless of a set of sutras, if the mind is recited, the result will be equally satisfactory.
2. The uncle often maintained.
At the temple, monks every day, during the late chanting period, recite the Mausoleum of the Surangama, the Great Compassion Bodhisattva, The Mantra or the Five Mantras, etc. At home, most of the laity recite the Great Bodhisattva Mantra and the Noble Mantra, for two reasons. : one is a little time, because it still has to take care of the family; second is the long Surangama uncle, adding the syllable, difficult to read, difficult to memorize. But if the layperson can learn all the mantras, recite them like monks, the better.
3. The Buddhas often recite.
Every Buddha has all 10 signs, all with one omniscient mind, infinite compassion, blessed infinite wisdom, loving infinite beings, so just reciting the name of a Buddha will be touched all. Buddhas and merits are also immeasurable.
But in terms of qualifications and circumstances, today, we are people in the Ta-Ba world, aiming at the nationalization of the Buddha-Shakyamuni Buddha, of course we should naturally recite His name. As much as the people in any country, remember to think of the grace of the politically intelligent government in that country.
If believers practice the Pure Land method, they must recite the name of Buddha Amitabha everyday. This practice was established by the following teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha: "In this world of Ta-she, until the time of Dharma-ending, a long distance from the Buddha, only the Dharma" Maintaining Buddha's name, "praying rebirths in the West of ecstasy is the national level of Buddha Amitabha, which makes it easier to cultivate. "
In addition, there are also people who recite the name of Buddha Maitreya, to pray for the birth of the heaven of Tsu-Yat; or recite the name of the Medicine Buddha, to pray for the sickness.
In short, believers must recite enough Buddha World:
a) Reciting Shakyamuni Buddha, is reciting the current Buddha, but also our Lord Buddha.
b) Reciting the Buddha Amitabha, reciting the Buddha's name from the ancient past, is also the Buddha that leads us to the Pure Land.
c) Reciting Buddha Maitreya, is reciting future Buddha.
IV. BENEFITS OF CONDUCTING THE BUDDHISM - BUDDHISM - BUDDHISM
1. Benefits of chanting
The teachings in the three canonical texts of the Buddha are all gentle and wise words spoken by the compassion and the sublime wisdom of the Buddha. Buddhist Sutras, therefore, are somewhat superior to all the words of the world. If we recite the mind sincerely, it will surely benefit us, our family, and those around us:
a) For oneself : When chanting, the practitioner brings all his mind and mind into the scriptures to avoid negligence, so the six faculties: Eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind all gather in one place. Take care of chanting, so the three karmic actions of body, speech, and mind no longer arise and evoke ten evils, but only remember good words and reason.
b) For the family : Before going to chant, everyone in the family stopped talking in real life and the neighbors came gossiping and dispersed themselves. Thanks to that, the family is pure, dignified and harmonious.
c) For people around : During the empty nights, the chanting chanting follows with a steady beat, humming bells, can wake people out of their dreams and get lost in the ears of the astray the profound meanings, the helpful advice, contained in the scriptures that the practitioner is reciting.
Thus clearly chanting not only benefits oneself, the family, but also those around them. That is to say, the common benefits can be seen, in addition to chanting, there are some strange and inexplicable benefits and spiritual experiences.
2. The benefits of recitation.
The mantra, although not able to explain, but the mind of life, will be effective is very miraculous, hard to think, as people who drink warm, cold water can take it for themselves.
It can be said: A mantra, including the entire set of sutras, so the effect of the mantra is extraordinary. When an accident occurs, if the mind takes care of the mind, then quickly be rescued. As in the old days, Ananda was in trouble, the Buddha said the mantra of Surangama, sent Mr. Van-Manjushri to save him, and Ananda immediately got away.
Nowadays there are many situations where people who sincerely recite the mantra can see clearly the effect. As Dr. Thien Thanh said again, in 1946, in the middle of the chaos, the doctor was in a remote, mountainous area in Central Vietnam. Once the doctor had a terminal illness, although Eastern and Western herbal medicine was available at his disposal, it was impossible to cure it. The doctor thought that he would abandon himself in the neighborhood of a mountain painter, unexpectedly when he was still under the roof of his parents, he often listened to his uncle "Cong Duc Bao Son" at night, and the doctor took that mantra to apply. In the meantime, sick farmers also gathered for the doctor to recite the whole night. The next morning, indeed the healthy doctor came back so easily, surprising all his colleagues.
3. Benefits of reciting Buddha's name.
Reciting the Buddha's merit is even bigger, because a single recitation of the Buddha can include all three suttas, all mantras, and all dharma practitioners, such as meditation, visualization, etc.
The Buddha Shakyamuni taught that: "After the Buddha's passing away, in the period of Dharma-ending, up to ruin, the sutras will be destroyed, only the Amitabha Sutra handed down for a hundred years has passed. At that time, there was only one recitation of the Buddha word with the words "Namo Amitabha Buddha", which was capable of bringing sentient beings to the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
The Buddha's words are not wrong, as evidenced by the fact that many people maintain a recitation of the Buddha's name, knowing the time and the time before they die. Like his ancestor, Hue Vien, in ten years of reciting Buddha's name, three times he saw Amitabha touching his head; In the Inter-Society, there are 123 people who practice the practice of "Maintain reciting the Buddha's name", and are in turn received by the Buddha to the Pure Land. Recently in the southern part of Vietnam, in 1940, there were three French officers - Captain Touffan, Lieutenant Retourna, and Lieutenant Brillant co-piloting a seaplane flying from Con Lon Island to Saigon. In the middle of the road, the plane broke down, fell into the sea. 2nd Lieutenant Brillant (Vietnamese hybrid French) reciting Buddha's name for help. The seaplane hovered on the surface for three hours, only to meet a Japanese fishing boat. As the three officers stepped into the ship, the seaplane sank right into the sea. Everyone was amazed, asking each other: Why were there three people sitting on the heavy seats and the plane floating, and now there are no people who are sunk? Only Lieutenant Brillant could explain the strangeness. He told people the inspiration of reciting the Buddha's teachings, which he often applied, and this was the second time he was freed by the recitation of Buddha's name. Captain Touffan and Lieutenant Retourna wholeheartedly believed, so when they arrived in Saigon, the two officers shared some money, and put a beautiful amulet in Cat Lai, Thanh My Loi village, Gia Dinh province to worship. Buddha called express gratitude. This is just a story among thousands of stories about the benefits of reciting Buddha's name. He recounted to everyone the inspiration of the recitation of Buddha's teachings, which he often applied, and this was the second time he was freed by the recitation of Buddha's name. Captain Touffan and Lieutenant Retourna wholeheartedly believed, so when they arrived in Saigon, the two officers shared some money, and put a beautiful amulet in Cat Lai, Thanh My Loi village, Gia Dinh province to worship. C. CONCLUSION
Encourage Buddhists to chant Buddhist sutras, recite the Buddha's name, and recite both the Enlightenment and Reasoning for their use.
Chanting, reciting mantras, reciting Buddha's name are 3 methods of practice including Sui and Li. Whether at home or renunciate, whether Hinayana or Mahayana, negative or positive, no one can leave these three methods. Therefore, Buddhists need to learn to chant Buddhist sutras, recite the Buddha's name and recite the mantra, the right words, the right words and deeds to get good results.
The three disciplines of chanting, reciting mantras and reciting Buddha's name, though not in agreement, all result in victory. Buddhists may, depending on their qualifications and circumstances, cultivate one, two or all three. For example, people who are literate and healthy, everyday jobs are not very busy, they should chant, recite and recite the Buddha's name for all three disciplines. As for the elderly, weak health, blind eyes, fallen teeth, wobbly mouth, exhausted body, if chanting, reciting mantras, they must concentrate on reciting Buddha's name, walking and sitting, always reciting Buddha.
But Buddhists should remember, when the mouth chanting, reciting mantras, reciting the Buddha's hand, knocking the bell, ringing the bell, chaining the mind, the mind must wash away all unrighteous thoughts, despicable desires, and put in There is the image of the merciful. Then you have to follow His example, open wide compassion, think about the suffering of all beings and make a vow to bring your strength, giving joy and suffering to all. When we stop chanting and come back to life, we have to make our actions as compassionate as our thoughts and words.
Those who recite sutras and recite the Buddha's name, and do exactly that, will surely get the proof of their true merit. END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.3/1/2020.
