A. OPENING.
In this world, no one is not greedy. This greed is extremely intense, because it is inherited, continuing from thousands of centuries to the present. Because of greed for life, sentient beings find all ways to live, to cultivate their lives, and to pass on the life. Because of greed, he defies the injustice, absurdity, and cruelty that he can commit against other people and things around him. Because of covetousness, people did not refuse to bully, snatch, rob, kill and kill their fellow-citizens, and sometimes even relatives. In short, greed is a major cause of suffering, destruction and death.
Besides, the more greedy life, the more fear of death. But being afraid, you can never be happy.
Moreover, who is afraid of death to escape death? If you are alive, you must have death. We see, the greed of life gives us so many harmful, sad, evil consequences.
But life, body, is so precious, is it really worth it for us to be so greedy and loving?
In order to properly judge the value of the body, the Buddha teaches us to practice a custom. That custom is known as the "impure shop".
B. BACKGROUND
I. DEFINITIONS
"Impure" means not clean and fresh. The impure is to observe meticulously, together with the human body to realize that it is impure, as most people mistakenly think.
II. HOW IS QUEET?
In the seventh lesson of the third volume of Buddhist studies, we have a rough idea of how impure is. But in that article, we only know a part of the impure practice, that is, the practitioner, wanting to see how the body is Impure, then enters the "corpse" (the forest leaving the dead bodies) to observe. But such observation, only knows part of this impure body. Moreover, that part is not an important part, because it belongs to the post-death period. Especially for people who have the concept: "death is over", then "zombie" like that is not a miraculous remedy for them to boring their own bodies and those of others. In order for them to be bored, disgusted with the body, they must show them firsthand the "impure" of it, from the time it begins to form until it is destroyed, from the inside to the outside, from the body to the general. For the ultimate observation, practitioners must be divided into five parts, sequentially as follows:
- Quan seedless impurity
- Quan impure abode
- Quan impatient autonomy
- Quan impure self
- Quan impartial wings
- Quan impure abode
- Quan impatient autonomy
- Quan impure self
- Quan impartial wings
Below we will explain in turn the five bars above
1. Quan seedless impure. A pupil is a seed, a factor or cause for arising. Everything has its cause. Our body is a microscopic object of course also has its seed.
The body of the body consists of two parts: the spiritual and the physical. This spiritual part is also called the consciousness. This consciousness is the place where all the good and evil karma of the past body, speech and mind are contained; therefore should also be called organs (organs or hidden means where the group). When a human being dies that consciousness remains, and according to its good and evil karma that leads rebirth in all beings, or samsara, or liberation. It is the owner of life, the life force of sentient beings.
This organ or consciousness of course is never pure at all, because it is the crystallization of disturbing karma: greed, hatred and delusion. Whenever greed, hatred, si..is defiled, are impure.
Having impure, then you must find impure friends that associate (in unison, similar gas demand). This spirit, in order to represent another life, has engaged, immersed in an impure substance. Substance that is the point of harmony of the father, mother blood. In other words, it is clearer, that is, the fetus has just converged. What is blood essence? The two stinking substances in humans. Its impure, thought needless to say, everyone was clear.
Seeing this is enough to know that the seed, the starting point of a human life, from spirit to material, is impure defilement, nothing worth being proud of and precious.
While the shop, practitioners must manipulate, focus the energy to imagine clearly, as seen before the eyes of all the impurities of the seed, to boring the body, to eradicate attachment.
2. The abiding of impure land The abode is the abode. As we have seen above, the newly created seed, fetus or human being is a stinking mass, its whereabouts are also not clean. Bad and dirty people find a bad, dirty situation to live in, that's a common sense, it's not hard to understand. To put it more clearly, the abode of the fetus that we want to talk about, the fetus. The fetus, without saying, everyone knew it was a bundle full of dirty and dirty blood. The fetus lay confused and grew in that dirty little bundle, like in a dungeon. But in the dungeon, there is room to move, nonetheless, there are vents for light and air to enter. But in the fetus, the fetus must lie down, covered in water, blood and viscous extremely foul, and do not have a bit of air or sunlight to enter. The pregnancy must live in such a situation not only a day, a week or a month but it takes nine months and ten days to get out. No wonder, when he was born, he cried out ... Mr. Wen Nhu Nhu Nguyen Gia Thieu told him ...
" Crying out of earnestness,
Who presented the beach on the beach ".
But according to where we thought, he cried so earnestly for the impermanence that only partially, but cried out of misery, crying to protest the detention for too long shaking, too cruel, too unsanitary, too lost "dignity" is up to ten!
So abiding by the impurity of the impurities means using the full force of the mind to realize the leg clearly as before the eyes of the impurities, the impurities of the fetus are the abode of the seed, in order to suppress the burning heart of desire. wallow body.
3. The Prime Minister impure himself. After the birth of the fetus and birth by crying, the baby began to live a separate life, full of senses to contact with the outside, has the necessary parts to regulate physical life. his body. These external senses and internal organs, often excrete dirty, smelly substances; therefore, we know that this body is not clean. So impure oneself is a shop of impure appearances, which everyone can perceive, looking through the physical appearance of the body ...
In each body, in addition to the pores that normally excrete sweat which are water-like urine, there are also nine more holes, each day also produces a lot of messy, foul, disgusting. Nine holes are: large, urinary tract, mouth, two ears, two nostrils and two eyes. These nine holes are like nine "sewers", large and small, that are able to load nasty things in people. In an exaggerated way, these nine manholes are even dirtier than the ones we often see in cities. Indeed, the dirtiest sewer contains only things like urine, phlegm, nose, drool, and jealousy, but at least they mix and flow with water; but nine holes in us, excreted only the pure things above, without mixing with water as in the manholes.
That's what is said when the body is still healthy and robust; but when the sick, the old body can not control themselves anymore, then the holes automatically come out, or the freedom to let the dirty things in the body flow out, the more even more horrible. At that time, the "pure" mentioned above became even more stinking, poisoning the air in a fierce way, making it harder to breathe.
What we said above is not so much. If we calmly consider, we will find that each of us is disgusting. But we rarely admit it, because long ago in our lives, with our attachment, with our greed, our eyesight is like a veil of silk, we see everything we see. pretty. And until that veil has been torn apart, the ugly truth, even if it is exposed openly, we are also shocked, not supposed to be true. Therefore, one wants to succeed and be bored with this body, having to visualize many times, from day to day, until it becomes clear that this body is indeed impure.
4. Consistent self impure. As we have seen nine holes in the body, every day excreted countless things are filthy. So certainly inside the body, the materials that make up our body are also impure. So the impure physical contemplation is to contemplate the physical state of the human body, to realize how impure it is.
The physical nature of a person is roughly composed of three substances:
Hard matter: bones, hair, hair, nails, etc.
Fluids: blood, saliva, tears, etc.
Thick matter: (neither hard nor liquid) like fat, brains, marrow etc.
None of it is hard or liquid, either.
Hard matter, such as hair, is a beautiful object to appear on the head. So often everyone loves it. But if you do not take care of it carefully, do not prepare it elaborately, that is, do not brooch, turn, do not groom, wash, anoint the perfume, but leave it free to sweep. dust, freedom of sunshine and dew, freedom to tangle to make a nest for simh's eggs to hatch, so even if not chased, people also ran long, did not dare to approach. That's not to say when it is burned or left the scalp, fall into food or into the mouth, it is extremely dangerous. Hair is something that is noble in a person but still impure, how much is it like intestines, liver, etc.?
- In terms of liquid, saliva is the cleanest, because it is in the mouth where the most daily cleaning and rinsing. Yet when we got out of our mouth, whether it be someone else's own or our own, risking being caught in our face or our shirt, we immediately showed signs of hideousness.
- About the viscous substance, the brain is an important part and is in the mind is the most noble place. But imagine, when we take a car, for example, at risk of an accident, the person next to us has a broken head, tofu-white brain splashes into our eyebrows, then surely those who lack composure will died of disgust.
Just a few examples above are enough to see clearly the impurities of the substances that make up our body. If you talk more, you feel even more impure, and some of you readers will surely hide and not read any more.
5. Quan general impure wings. Sharing the wings here is to say the stage of decay of the human body after the last breath. So contemplation of impure wings is the impure of the body after death.
This is the final period of the decades of growth of the body. In the Sutta the Buddha said: The human body is created by the four great pundits, so of course when he dies, the human body must be returned to the four elements. First of all, the breath is about wind. Next is the warmth back to the fire. Next is the liquid in the body returning to the ocean, and finally the hard and viscous substance like flesh and bones ... chemistry and geography. Especially the latter two things, in the period of soft spoilage, disintegration, there is nothing more filthy, smelly and disgusting in this world. Even though the corpse was once the most dearly in the world, but for five or seven days before I could be shrouded and buried, I was still disgusted, unable to get close to my side without covering my nose. This cruel truth is uncovered everywhere during the war. In general, from person to person, From the rich to the poor, from the old to the young, from the beautiful to the ugly, everyone who comes to this stage of the eschatology has only the same smell: the smell; the same substance: rotten matter. The impure of the human being in this final stage is clearly evident, thought that no further explanation is needed. Besides, in the seventh lesson of the third volume of Buddhist studies, we have spoken explicitly to the impurities of the human body in this period. If any readers do not remember, please read that paragraph again. also spoke thoroughly to the impure of the body in this period already. If any readers do not remember, please read that paragraph again. also spoke thoroughly to the impure of the body in this period already. If any readers do not remember, please read that paragraph again.
In summary, through these five stages of impure contemplation: the seed, the abode, the form, the body and the eschatology, we have a clear, true conception of the impurities of the human body. Both a long time, from reincarnation to being buried on the ground, indeed the body did not find anything a little fragrant. No matter how eloquent, no one can quibble over the impure body to become pure.
III. PURPOSE AND BENEFITS OF THE STUFF
Someone asked: Why while life is ugly, suffering, the Buddha even shows more to the filthy dirt of the body? Why not allow people to have the illusion that their bodies are beautiful and pure so that they can comfort and forget a part of the badness of human life, but make life more boring and hopeless when you realize your impure body?
First of all, we have to make a definitive statement that Buddhism is the "true religion", the truth of truth. The Buddha did not want to deceive sentient beings, take evil for good, take bad for good, or vice versa.
Secondly, we should never forget that it is the delusion that the body is fragrant, beautiful and has caused great disaster for the people. Because people mistakenly think that the human body has great value, so to oneself, people cherish, nurture, find all ways, not from any evil act to nourish it; with regard to the body of others, it is passionate, passionate, looking for ways to conquer, to do its own thing. Because of the misguided value, the craving for that false identity, that of life as well as of private life, the more evil the worse, the darker the darker.
Again, when you've mistakenly taken the value of being ugly, taking a bad job, or making a fragrant smell, of course, the beauty is beautiful, the true fragrance will be abandoned, no longer known and used. Mankind has longed for the small, ugly, short-lived body, and forsakes the long, beautiful mind.
So the Buddha, having torn the veil of illusion covering his body and revealing the figure of the impure body, aims to direct the eye and the activities of the austerities into the truly beautiful, wide value bigger and more lasting.
But we should not erroneously conclude that this body is impure and rotten, then immediately eliminate it, as fifty monks do, after listening to the Buddha's sermon on the body. impure. Doing so is superficially judgmental, mechanical! Do not despise in dirty soil bags without pearls, do not put in saltwater tanks without gold. One should not think that in this impure body there is no Buddha nature, but in the search for Buddhahood somewhere far away. The Buddha often taught: Every living being has Buddha nature . In the Shurangama Sutra, he again invented the Buddha nature "unborn and destroy" in the arising and passing. The Buddha Nature or the unborn or the arising of nature is the basis of our spirit. It is invisible but not lost, confused in "impure" and often remains pure.
Know how to take advantage of this impure, impermanent body, and find the "pure" ordinary "," is the Buddha's intention when teaching this visualization.
C. CONCLUSION
The human heart is still a pure mind; it lies in the impure body of every being. But because the people of the world are afflicted with greed, hatred, delusion, and deception, they should be fascinated and reeled to pursue the five senses and continental desires, without seeing the pure mind.
Want to stop the craving that reeling, the Buddha taught to be impure.
So the impure bar has a purpose:
- To treat craving for lust, not to get bored, destroy yourself.
- End except for recitation and enlightenment in Buddha nature, to progress strongly in the path of liberation for ourselves and for others.
- But, gold is not naturally available in the cupboard, pearls do not lie off the ground. So is Buddha Nature: It does not give itself to us when we sit idly by. So the practitioner who wants to accomplish this miracle of enlightenment in order to enlighten the Buddha nature, needs to cultivate cultivation, and especially to cultivate the following three virtues:
- Wisdom (wisdom): Don't let lust blur your eyes, get fake feet, take bad for beauty. Don't be superficially look outside, you have to look deeply inside.
- Honest : See aromatic, say aromatic, see rotten then say rotten, do not be narcissistic, do not be biased, only a level of worship of the truth, though it makes us heartbroken, sad.
- Patience : Be persistent, persistent, don't find it hard to be discouraged; don't see the long way but back down. In life, there is no good job without difficulty. Half of success is due to being patient. If we have enough of the three virtues mentioned above, we will definitely achieve well in this impure practice.
