A. OPENING
Thanks to the four foundations of mindfulness, we can see the truth of life clearly. They are: impure body, impermanent mind, non-self-dharma and sensation. Seeing that painful truth clearly, we have to work, trying our best to get out of their dangerous claws.
To that end, diligence and diligence are the first and foremost conditions in our liberation.
In life and in the religion, every person who wants to achieve good results in his life must always work hard. Especially austerities, but the result is the ceiling, the glass is permanently happy, the process, the effort to be more persistent, resilient to overcome the new achievements.
More than anyone else, the Buddha understood the importance of self-form, so he taught us before going into religion, to prepare the necessary means, to show a determined attitude: Determination to avoid evil and good things. That is the meaning of the "Four Right Needs" which we will study below.
B. BACKGROUND
I. DEFINITELY PRINCIPAL NEEDS
Four Right Effort is the four diligent practices diligently working with the right path. These four diligent spells are:
1. Effort to prevent unwholesome evil.
2. Effort to eliminate evil.
3. Effort to develop good things that have not yet arisen.
4. Effort to continue developing the good things that have arisen.
II. THE CONCEPT OF GOOD LUCK AND HEAVY IN BUDDHISM
Before doing good to avoid evil, we must know clearly what is good and what is evil. Evil things are things that can harm us and people now and in the future. They are always against love, equality, wisdom and truth.
On the contrary, good things are things that can benefit us and people, now and in the future. They are always compatible with compassion, equality, intellect and truth.
With these two definitions, it is not necessary to wait until it is revealed by action to be called good or evil. Even in thought, and most importantly thought, has distinguished good or evil. According to Buddhism, the three arising places of good or evil are: body, speech, and mind. Thus, a gesture, a word or a thought, can be either good or evil. Therefore, the Buddha taught us to prevent evil, or to do good, even when they are in consciousness.
(Review the article "Good Ten in Second Course")
III. THE CONTENT OF THE CHURCH IS NEEDED
1. Effort to prevent unwholesome evil: My mind has not yet thought of evil, so I have to try to preserve it, do not let it arise, as well as the rope tying the buffalo's nose, suppressing it, not feeding rice .
Here are a few specific examples that can occur daily in our lives:
- When we want to organize a hunting trip, to get toast with the friends, but we think: "I am a Buddhist disciple, I have taken the three precepts, the five precepts already, no dare to forget the vow, kill sentient beings and drink alcohol! " So we don't carry out the hunt anymore.
- When arguing the mind of cheating, in order to devise a plan of his own, we immediately reconsider: "My lost person knows sadness, then the loss of people is not happy! Besides, I have vowed my whole life Whose little thing is it like, how dare I forget my vow? " After thinking that, we will no longer execute the dark scheme.
-When the mind nail moon flower, we think: "We have vowed to spend life without adultery, they must uphold the maintenance of conduct." And because of that meaning, we prevent the moon.
- When we want to lie to have our own business, we immediately think: "I have vowed my whole life to say the truth, then must try to keep the full vow." Thus, we are free from sin.
In short, every time our mind raises a bad thought, wants to do something evil, we have to find good reasons, think about its harmful consequences, and immediately put down the illicit thoughts, and prevent it from arising in action.
A practitioner is afraid of disturbing enemies, deluded into his mind, robbing him of treasures of merit, so he always takes care of them, like the wealthy keepers: to prevent walls from closing, leaving cabinets, locking tightly not to for crooks to burglary.
This deterrence, to keep evil from arising, is not limited to a certain period of time, but on the contrary, must continue in every moment, every moment, every day, every year. year after year, until your mind is at peace with your mind, do not think of evil anymore. This containment requires a lot of diligence, diligence, perseverance and hope to achieve the desired result.
2. Effort to eliminate evil things that have arisen: In our lives, especially when we do not understand the Dharma and do not practice, we have committed many crimes. These crimes make our mind more and more dark and dim, like a long-standing example, no one can clean and cannot look anymore. Now that we have realized the dangers of evil, we must be determined to eliminate it. Evil is not far away, they arise in the body, speech and mind of each of us. So, except for the crime of blocking the body, speech and mind, we continue to create bad karma. But the momentum of sin, like the momentum of a car going downhill, the faster it descends, the more intense it is, so in order to eradicate sin, we must use more energy, more effort, must always be diligent. diligent. In order to prevent the momentum of sin, we Buddhists must always remember to think like this:
- Murdering is an evil that has caused the sins of yourself to be in debt to the blood of flesh and life, harming both men and things.
- Theft robbing people suffering from poverty, rags, sadness, untold suffering.
- Committing adultery is something that is not polite, often causing confusion in the family and especially having a reputation of shame and loss of human dignity.
- Lie to lose trust.
- Talking embroidery divides favor.
- Speak a two-dimensional tongue that increases hatred.
- Speaking cruel words, before dirty his mouth, after taking tricks.
- Extreme desire (greed) finds itself lacking forever, suffering more and more hardship.
- Anger and anger, fire in the yard rage, damaging work and how much forest of merit is gone.
- Ignorance is not clear Chief Justice, shady truths cause all the crimes.
Judging so, if the crime has accidentally born, then any crime for example, we must eradicate the root, do not let it sprout branch again. In the meantime, we again train the new seeds to replace the organs, then in time, we will become pure people.
3. Diligence gives rise to good things not yet arising: Sometimes we have good intentions, want to help one person, support others, but because of hospitality, or lack of energy, we do not realize those good intentions. So, no matter how goodwill, it will not benefit us and the people around us. If we want to create good karma, such as saying kind words to everyone in all cases, giving to the poor, helping people with jobs, then we must not wait, but on the contrary, must be enthusiastic. , diligently do it right away. We must always motivate us, turn good thoughts into action. The French have a very meaningful proverb, to satirize those who have good intentions but never do it: "Hell is full of good intentions". (L'enfer est pavé de bonnes intentions). That's right, how many people of good will there are in life,
So we must always be eager to develop good things, whenever they have just started in the heart, do not wait, treat until the death comes knocking on the door, regretting that we have not created for ourselves. good people, so you have to go to hell.
4. Being diligent in continuing to develop the good things that have arisen: Good things once the action has been revealed, let us not think this is enough, it is enough, no need to try to do more.
When we do perfect things, we benefit in two ways: on the one hand, preventing evil from harm; on the one hand, doing good is beneficial to yourself and to others. For example, when we take the precepts of killing and practicing according to that precept, we are both preventing the killing of people and things, and at the same time redeeming people and releasing them. The other precepts are the same, that is, on the one hand, "just evil", on the other hand, "good and good," and then like that diligence and diligence are always possible. We must learn to do good deeds, to become habitual, until every thought, every word, every deed is good.
C. CONCLUSION
The broad and wonderful meaning of the Four Right Needs
The four righteous thoughts are the four true diligent practices in the eradication of evil and the development of good. It includes all the essential basic rules of all religions, morals and morals.
In fact, if we were to follow all four lifetimes in our lifetime, we will: prevent the evils of evil; eradicate evil that has arisen; promoting the implementation of good things that have just turned up in the heart; and continue to do more of the good things that have been done. If we strive diligently to do so, then surely we will attain the status of sage.
