COURSE IV: ENJOYING AND BODHISATICS BUDDHISM
Lesson 5:  DIVISION OF DIFFERENCE.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.

A. OPENING
Most people believe that every person, from birth to death and even after death, has a unique, unchanging soul that owns all his thoughts and actions. In Buddhist terminology, such belief is called "ego", meaning that there is a separate self, an unchanging self ... From that ego, that produces "ego", meaning love loving, caring, preserving the self, regardless of right or wrong; conceit, meaning arrogance, for your "self" is noble, better than many other "egos", as opposed to everything that is not ours or which is contrary to us.
Because of that attachment, life should have been infinite and infinite, immortal, and separated, confined in hard shells as separate "self"; and the world, or more broadly, all sentient beings must live, die, spin, suffer, suffer for the particular self they mistakenly thought to be homogeneous and immutable.
But actually, is there a "I" like that? If so, where is the Ta? In the six faculties or in the six senses, or in the six consciousness? To understand this problem thoroughly, we must contemplate Precepts as one of the Five Concerns of Mind.
B. BACKGROUND
I. DEFINITIONS
Quan About differentiation: Gender has the meaning of limitation, is the scope to divide this part from another, one part with another. For example, in matter, people are divided into many types: color, sound, taste, etc. Or in humans, the parts that come into contact with the external environment, such as eyes, ears, nose, tongue, etc. ... are separate precepts.
In the world of Ta-she consists of tangible and intangible objects, although there are thousands of thousands of natural images, but according to the philosophy of Buddhism, it can be divided into eighteen precepts (type, range). Using wisdom to observe, identify each range, each of the eighteen precepts, to see if there is a permanent, unchanging, unique self or not, that is, the Precepts of the Precepts.
II RESOLUTION 18 GENDER
Eighteen precepts can be divided into three broad categories: Six bases, six ceilings and six consciousness.
1. Six bases:  That is the refuge, the root for others to flourish, arise. The six faculties here are: eye-base, atrium, eye-base, true eye, body-base and mind-door.
a) Eyesight:  that is, two eyes, the part used as a support for the perception of the person to be clear, when in contact with the surrounding landscape.
b) Auric:  ie two ears, the part that gives rise to the hearing of the person who is clear, when exposed to the surrounding noise.
c) Identity:  that is, the nostrils, the parts for which the smell is verified, when it comes in contact with odors such as scents, rot ... around.
d) Radical  sensation : that is, the tongue, the part that supports the taste of the person is clearly exposed to substances such as sour, salty, etc. in the exterior.
d) Body:  ie skin covering the body, the part that identifies the sensation, heat, cold, hardness, softness of surrounding objects.
These five faculties are the five physical parts located on the outside, easily accessible to external objects. They have the appearance of four elements, visible, visible, palpable. The only way to learn how to paraphrase the rupa which is internal to rupa. The internal identity of this rupa can be divided into two parts: the root-base and pure-consciousness. The purification of purification is the appearance of the gross appearance, such as the iris, the ear flaps, the red tongue and so on. , the living part of the five bases. To put it more simply, that is, the human nerves. Phu ceiling is crude, sharp and subtle. If these two parts are separated, the five faculties will become useless.
e) Root sense:  that is, the part that gives rise to discrimination, that is, the seventh consciousness. This part is very subtly spiritual. So there is no form like the previous five faculties.
2. Six ceiling:  Ceiling, literally dust. The dust is filthy and always changing the whirling place. Literally, the ceiling is only for the material, the landscape around people. The six ceilings are: ceiling, ceiling, incense, ceiling, ceiling and ceiling.
a) Color: the  color, the shape of the line, what the eye can see.
b) Tranquility: the  sound made by tangible or invisible things, meaning the sounds heard by headphones.
c) Bare incense: the  smell emanating from an invisible or tangible object, which the nose smells.
d) Taste: the  substance in a sentient or unintentional object, which the tongue can taste.
d) Exposed:  soft, hard, slippery, rough objects ... of sentient or unintentional objects, objects which the body can contact.
e) Dharma ceiling:  are abstract images, colors, flavors, etc. of the five ceilings that have been saved after having been conditioned by the five senses. Color reputation, taste here is not the real thing of the outside but just the silhouette, echoes ... of the outside after having passed the five senses, and being predestined.
We can make the following crude example easy to understand:
- Sac is like an outside scene.
- Labels like cameras.
- Dharma example as images kept in the film.
- Italian, for example, the viewer in the film on screen. The following could be done as a second example:
- Thanh tran is like the singing of a singer.
- Auror such as a recorder.
- Dharma example is like a recorded tape.
- Italian for example, the listener hears from a machine.
3. Six consciousness.  Consciousness is the discrimination, understanding, and judgment resulting from the six doors which arise from the six senses. It belongs to the mind of dharma (invisible). The six consciousness are: visual consciousness, atria, consciousness, physical consciousness, physical consciousness and consciousness.
a) Consciousness  is the discrimination and understanding arising from the eye-sense which is in contact with rupa.
b) Consciousness  is the discrimination of knowledge caused by atrial contact with bare bar.
c) The principle  is the discrimination of knowledge arising from the sense of contact with the earthly aroma.
d) Loss of consciousness  is the discrimination caused by the true sense of contact with the ceiling arising.
dd) Consciousness  is the discrimination and understanding arising from body-contact exposed to exposed emotions.
e) Consciousness  is the discrimination, understanding, and criticism caused by the mind-door that comes into contact with the dharmakaya.
We can make a specific example for easy recognition:
Six consciousness as a jury of the competition about the arts, female workers and family. The council consists of six people: A chairman and five professional members in five industries:
- Someone who specializes in colors and images
- A person who specializes in sound
- A person who specializes in scents
- A person specializing in taste
- A tactile specialist
These five members, after separating and criticizing their expertise, immediately submitted their comments to the chairman, who gathered all the comments of the five members, summarized. and announce the results of that contest. This chairman is consciousness or the sixth consciousness.
III. METHODS OF MANAGEMENT
After we have clearly known the scope and function of each of the eighteen precepts, here we can begin to practice the custom. This custom consists of two parts: Observing the relationship between the root, the ceiling and the consciousness; and contemplate the deception of sensation, consciousness and consciousness.
1. Observe the link between the base, the ceiling, and the consciousness.  Still know the base is internal colors, the ceiling is foreign colors, two separate things, but they are very closely related. The root is the active part, capable of being charming with the ceiling, and the ceiling is the passive "being charmed" with the root. Thanks to the earthly base and pure color, people can identify the surrounding scenes in everyday life.
If there is no root, of course there is no consciousness, then man is not human. They do not compose, build, reform, evolve, and this world must be a "dead" world, meaningless.
Without the ceiling, humans would not survive. Exterior is the field of human activity. It teaches smart skills for people in life and makes people aware of their lives.
Awakening effects on the base and ceiling make life more progressive, prosperous and prosperous.
These three things affect each other like lighters, electrolytes and sparks. This connection eloquently demonstrates the non-independence of rupa and dharma, both individually and holistically.
These eighteen precepts, as the first paragraph says, include the world and human life, both sentient beings and sentient beings. Once they are not independent, in this universe, there is no object, including humans, even the self, created by them, can be isolated and homogeneous.
2. Observe the deception of senses, ceilings and consciousness.  In the previous section, we see that the self cannot be obtained merely by the combination of base, ceiling, and consciousness. At this point, we will go deeper into a floor, observing whether the self can be in any part of the base, the ceiling and the awakening?
a) Six bases are falls reasonable?  First, let us consider what is the nature of the six bases? It is a flesh-and-blood skeleton, organized in an orderly, organized manner, nothing else. Which is already flesh and blood, nothing is persistent, homogeneous. From "when white teeth to early childhood", try to see how people have changed several times. And after a hundred years, try to ask what will be left of the body, other than "green grass".
Suppose there is a self in the six doors, then try to ask:
- If the self is in the eye, the other five doors are not falls. If the self is in the ear, then the other five are not self. Considering all six faculties, one cannot say the self is part of the six faculties.
- If you think that all six faculties are falls, then you have up to six falls. That said no one will recognize it.
- And if it is said that: Because of the six faculties of harmony, there is a self, then contrary to the definition of self, it is homogeneous and immutable. Besides, when you think that the self is due to many things, you have to recognize that the self is not real or false.
Therefore, Duy learned to learn "the selflessness".
b) Is the six senses falling?  The ceiling and base are not much different. Based on not existing in life, then how to stand still, still nostalgic.
Suppose, "self" is in identity, then in this world there must be no change, change black. Like flowers blooming and dying, day and night, the beach turned into a strawberry garden, the change was clearly visible.
So "falls" is in the bar? Also not reasonable. The bar was never natural. If there are not sentient beings emitted, it is also due to the collision of unintentional objects. Thus, the bar is clearly a compounded, created artifact. Which has been compounded, then how impermanent. Besides, the thing that gives birth to it is the rupa which is anattā, impermanence, it cannot be normal, is a self.
Until flavor, taste, contact, and dharma are also impermanent, egolessness and color. They are just like the passing breeze, the subtle fog, are invisible again, so their egolessness is even more pronounced than the color and the sound.
c) Six is down c han g?  As mentioned above, awakening is the awareness that is rooted and conjoined. It has proved that consciousness is not real. In simple terms, consciousness is due to reason and ceiling to each other, but if it is ultimately divided according to the only way of learning, then the reason may be due to many other conditions. Such as visual consciousness, being run by the following nine conditions:
- No: the void, the distance between the apartment and the landscape.
- Ming: is the light illuminated by the sun, moon, stars, or lights.
- Root: is the refuge of consciousness.
- Landscape: are the things that are predestined.
- Attention: is the desire to see.
- Distinguishing y: is a refuge to distinguish, that is consciousness, or the sixth consciousness.
- Infection of medicine: is the seventh or subconscious.
- Basic y: is the eighth consciousness.
- Death: instinct will be generated.
In order to have a clearer idea of visual consciousness, we would like to explain the above nine conditions:
When our eyes see something, it must be near or far from the object (not), when we see that it is daytime, or at night there is moon, stars, or light (intelligent). The seeing of course is from the eyes that have (base) and at the same time, then there must be something to see (scene). Before I saw it, I already had the intention to look (effect). This effect is again triggered by consciousness (distinguishing y). Consciousness must rely on the seventh, because is its root (infection net y). The seventh consciousness is always the same and the eighth consciousness is self (basic y). This consciousness is where the seed race resides. The death race is the righteous way to get things.
Judging from the inside to the outside, from the first to the last, the final eye has no real sense of truth. The other things like atria, consciousness, and consciousness are the same; but less predestined, as the ear consciousness, there are only eight conditions (because there is no Minh: hearing does not need light). As for Tanh, damage, and bodily consciousness, only seven conditions (because there is no need for Minh and No). Consciousness is only five conditions, namely: base, scene, volition, basic medicine, seed.
See then it is clear enough that all six consciousness are not real, that is also egolessness as six bases and six ceiling.
In short, from the body to the world, including the eighteen precepts, are not real, not true. Administration by predestined harmony, yes, the entity is absolutely not.
IV. EFFICIENCY OF FRENCH BORDER DISTRIBUTION
The Dharma Precinct discriminates with the function of breaking down the self no longer has any armor. The self has been attacked in every way, from the outside to the lair, and finally, it has been scattered, shared, uncovered, and scattered. So far, the self-centered ego is rife by hiding in the darkness of delusion. From now on, the dharma precepts differentiate as a headlight illuminating the dark sky dome, making the false figure of a self disappear like clouds and smoke. Ego has no longer, then ego, ego does not know where to rely on to survive. In other words, negativity, bad karma, suffering, due to ego that is born. Now that the ego has been eradicated, the afflictions of suffering will also end. Disturbance, suffering is all happy, free in immediately appear. That is the first sure result of the disciplines of discrimination.
Then, from that peace, relative liberty, the practitioner will try to progress gradually on the path. The more you go, the more lucid you become, the more truth you become. Practitioners will gradually witness the fruits Tu Tu complete, Tu da jaw, A na jaw, A-la-Han. But practitioners also do not stop at the results. Practitioners are not obstinate in the results of their evidence, so will liberate the three realms, annoying Thanh Van and Pratyekabuddha.
If the practitioner tries to practice more, until he no longer has attachment to his dharma methods, he only treats it as a finger pointing to the moon, as a cure for illness, just in pain, if he tries to cultivate like that , then the practitioner will be frustrated "Unexpected, Unattended", that is the witness of the Supreme Bodhi Bodhisattva.
C. CONCLUSION
We have clearly seen the function, magic and the good effect of the disciplined disciplines. But seeing, despite being precious, is much more valuable to do. In the previous paragraph, we have emphasized the word "three if two tries ..." twice. Indeed, if not tried, it will not be completed, and the self, although false, still exists strongly and imposingly, as usual. The ego is created and strengthened from thousands of lives, each time a little but becomes solid, like clam shells and shells clinging to stone snouts. Today we are blessed with the duty of the guru, who shows the disciplines of the disciplines, so that we can see his premise. But is it only consistent seven times, or a few dozen times is the achievement? The self is fostered for a long time, elaborately cultivating to eradicate it also takes a lot of time, through many stages. Reason can accept easily without true self, but emotion can not accept so easily? So far, we have trusted and loved the self, suddenly today someone said that it is not, it is not true, then the emotions will rise up, oppose the ears, do not want to hear, cover the eyes don't want to see. We need a lot of patience, may be able to convince the feelings. But the battle with the self, at this stage, is not over! The self has not surrendered yet, but retreats to the deepest lair, into the most dangerous "secret area" is the subconscious or in the word Duy learned is the seventh consciousness. The ego here has a comprehensive form, extremely sharp, as in the secret area where every citizen, from young to old, from men, women to children, is a soldier; and every piece of land, every grove, Each leaf and leaf is a great obstacle to the fight against the self. The clinging of the subconscious or unconscious takes place in every gesture of every action, while awake as well as during sleep, while well as well as while delirious, while living as well as while dying (according to god awake and reincarnation). Enemy forces (ego) strong and powerful like that. We need to understand before we fight. Know yourself, know, hundred battles hundred wins.
We are never allowed to be hostile. Must be fully prepared before fighting. And while fighting must be determined and patient. With these two basic conditions, the practitioner will surely succeed in the fight, destroy the self that is the most dangerous enemy in each of us, and lead the other enemies: greed, hatred and delusion. Except for the leader of this party, he has completely succeeded in the battle against afflictions and suffering and began to step on the liberation tower.  . END=NAM MO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.8/1/2020.
