The disease is an obvious phenomenon in life. Having a human body is sick. Each of us can undergo one or more illnesses, not at this time when another, not heavy is light. If anyone, until this moment has not had a disease, it is a great happiness. But at the very least, the person witnessed his loved one getting sick and was sure that, at some point, I might get sick. Therefore, the disease is a very close phenomenon to humans that we have more or less experienced, either directly or indirectly. Speaking of illness, anyone can think of pain, suffering, discomfort, sadness, anxiety, fear and countless other negative psychologies. The disease is painful. This no one denies. But the important thing is how to do it, even if it hurts (about the body), we don't have to suffer (about the mind). You may wonder how sick it is without suffering? I have been asking such questions after a few illnesses, but after that, I wonder if the lessons are self-explanatory. Here, I would like to share with you some positive aspects when you are sick or living with the disease.
      1. Illness is an opportunity to recognize body signals .
When we suffer from a certain disease, we should not hurry to be sad, depressed, feel unfortunate compared to many others. Sickness is an indispensable thing once we bring our bodies as human beings, so the fact that it comes to one person, not yet to others, is only a matter of time. Nothing is unfair.
Treat illness as an opportunity for you to receive body signals that tell you that something is wrong with your body. For example, when you hear chest tightness, you know that this reminds you to see a doctor, and as such, you will most likely know and avoid or delay the coronary heart disease before everything becomes too late. Most illnesses progress from mild to severe and have accompanying symptoms.
If we know how to listen to the body in order to receive a timely change and have a proper method of treatment, we have somehow been able to maintain good health and bring happiness to ourselves and people. body and society. Some serious illnesses, such as cancer, are still treatable if detected early. So are the other diseases. Therefore, it will not be sad when we 'hear' the body is not okay. Instead, we should be happy, if not happy, then calm down, because at least, I receive the signal that the body sends me. Moreover, by receiving such a signal, we develop the ability to listen to the body more often. Thanks to this, we know how to adjust our diet and activities to better suit our location.
     2. Illness is a sign that you need to adjust to a more comfortable life .
Usually, when we know we are sick, we often let negative emotions arise. The instinct of survival urges people to want to live, so they are not contented when the disease comes to them, so the spirit of depression, fear arises. Someone who has such a mentality means making a significant contribution to the destruction of his body and aggravating the disease despite the intervention of therapies.
Many diseases and pain arise due to psychological stress. Cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, and stomach are all related to psychological disorders. Unstable psychology and loss of balance are one of the reasons that easily cause disorders of metabolic processes in the body and cause disease. Therefore, when we are sick, we need to realize that this is the way the body tells us that the mind needs to rest more and learn how to transform stress more effectively. This is to help the body quickly heal and prevent disease later on effectively.

           3. When sick, we see the need to take care of the mind and spiritual life become more necessary .
When we are healthy, we think we are immortal, so taking care of our inner life is not a very necessary issue. When sick, we only feel the feeling of playing with, emptiness and fear. Only then do we realize that what we really lack is a strong spirit, a firm inner spirit that can be stable in such situations. From there, we learn to take care of our minds.
In fact, the need to take care of the mind needs to be done regularly, not waiting until it is sick, because it is more necessary than body care. But, often, we pay little attention to this need so we haven't realized it. As a result, many people who become ill later return to spiritual life more often. For me too, the first illness, sad and depressed. After that, I found my spirit weak. That is not possible. When his illness was insecure, his relatives became more worried, but received nothing. Then, the next time I got sick, I knew how to make myself feel better and now, when I bring in a chronic disease, I learned to live with the disease and gain a lot of experience in the process of 'living together'. This is to make life easier.
One thing that I can rule out is that whenever my mind is calm and less wavering, I feel less painful. That is, if the body is sick, then the body 'hurts', but not because of the body's pain, the mind has to 'suffer'. In fact, when the body is in pain, there are only a few parts in some areas of pain only. Exaggerating the pain to the whole body and spreading to the mind is another 'disease' that is more difficult than the clinical disease we are suffering from. Whenever we allow the suffering of the mind to be associated with the pain of the body, that suffering is extremely painful and painful.
      4. The disease teaches us about impermanence.
Old, sick, then the end of the journey of a lifetime is death. All of these natural phenomena take place incessantly in man and every species. The stages (so we call it, in fact, there are no boundaries) birth, maturity, aging and corruption are intertwined on a shaft called 'life' for which one pole is the born in life and the other is death. On a more subtle level, we need to understand that in every instant, how many cells in the body die and how many new cells are born. However, in order to 'see' change, there must be specific, clear and bigger changes. Once sick, we easily realize that we are 'changing the stage'.
Being aware of impermanence helps us become more aware of how to use and manage our time and adjust our relationships with those around us for a more meaningful life. Only those who experience the disease can fully understand good health is an invaluable asset, and after that, they do not waste that property.
       5. The disease makes us grow compassion.
When we are sick, we understand the pain of others more, especially those who have the same illness or illness worse than us. The old people said 'co-disease of unity' is not wrong. In pain, we feel we are not alone in fighting this disease. Thinking about those who suffer the same pain as ourselves or more than us, we can easily spread love to even those who are not acquainted.
Sympathy, empathy and sharing with those who are very sick. If we continue to cultivate this wholesome mind, we are cultivating our compassionate mind. As a result, we will make positive and practical actions that help people ease their pain through personal experience. In fact, when witnessing illness, relatives of the sick also open their hearts and empathy for the sick. The programs 'Thuy's Dream', "Ben's Smile" are vivid examples of the sympathetic sharing of those who have relatives who have been pediatric cancer patients for babies with the same fate. .

            6. The disease helps us to nourish our humble mind and know enough .

When we are sick, we will remember that our life is not without limits. Human limitations are common sense, but normally we are not fully aware of our limitations. If we see that other people are sick, we think the disease will only come to that person without coming to me. Until we ourselves or our loved ones get sick like everyone else, we realize that everyone is influenced by the natural law: pain, old age, sickness and death.
Realizing that we are no better than others, at least in this natural law, helps us lessen our pride and become more humble in life. Through a single illness, we can reduce our greed significantly. Through a sickness, we can know how to organize our life more effectively and better.
         7. The disease helps us to have more will and strength .
Willpower and willpower are life skills that need to be practiced in many different situations in life. So why do we miss the opportunity to practice this skill? I was sick many times and I realized one thing, after each disease, I became stronger, more energetic and then the illnesses came and went lighter.
In fact, I did this because of thinking of my father, a man who returned from the battlefield with only one arm and one leg that could never be folded because of an incision, despite his years in the battlefield, father I only know how to hold needles, scalpels, and syringes, but never to hold a gun. With his lost arm, he suffered pain for three cuts (the first time he cut his hand, the second time he removed the knuckle joint for infection, the third time again because of the infection). Yet my father was happy to live, always active in thinking and action, imparting his remaining energy and vitality to his children.
So every time I get sick, sometimes even for a whole month, sometimes the painful aches and pains, the dislocations of my legs take a whole week to travel and now the pain persists with me from the past few years I still find it unmatched by the pain of my father. Thinking like that, I overcome the pain easier than I thought. Such a way of thinking is the most effective painkiller for myself.

Above, I share the 'benefits' when I'm sick. Saying that does not mean that I want to myself or you, or someone sick. Illness is a phenomenon that is beyond one's will. These are simply some of the methods I use every time I get sick. These are methods to support medical therapies, make the disease heal faster and help the sick not to waste too much energy to 'fight' with the disease. If you find something that suits you, try it and I believe it will work. The general principle to endure and live with the disease (for chronic illnesses and permanent injuries due to accidents) is when the body is in pain, do not let the mind suffer because of the pain of the body. Think of the disease as an 'uninvited guest' and treat it with 'politeness'. Do not be chased because once chased, it will resist. What we need to do is create the most appropriate environment for 'it' to leave. Let go, it will go without a goodbye, my friends.END=NAM MO BON SU THICH CA MAU NI PHAT.( 3 LAN ).WORLD VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST ORDER=GOLDEN LOTUS MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.18/8/2019.
