Layman of Solitude: He painted a vivid humanitarian picture.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.

He was not only respected because of the act of offering the precious garden to Buddha, but also because of his great kindness, great devotion and the protection of his monks.

Granting Her Single is a millionaire monk in the Xa Ve capital of Kieu Tat La kingdom, northern India. He was really Tu Dat (Sudatta), because he often provided help to the poor, lonely, and famous people of the kingdom, so everyone loved him and gave him the nickname of Lady Poison, means "the one who saves the poor and lonely." He has a wife and four children, three first girls and a youngest son.

The story of the layman of Solitude and the Buddha

Tu Dat had a brother-in-law who was a wealthy merchant in the town of Vuong Xa. Whenever he came to work here, he stayed at his brother-in-law's house. One day, Tu Dat saw his brother-in-law busy busy preparing a big party for tomorrow. He asked, his brother-in-law said:
- Tomorrow he will also invite Buddha and his monks disciples to live at home.
When he heard the voice of "Buddha" from his wife's mouth, Tu Dat suddenly felt a strange interest in his interest, and asked his brother-in-law to make a clear statement of enlightenment to him. , his brother-in-law told Tu Dat about the Buddha's supremacy, virtue, and transcendental wisdom, and he himself heard Buddha's dharma and became his home disciple. erected sixty-six small buildings scattered in Truc Lam monastery to offer monks.

What an opportunity! When hearing these things Tu Dat felt extremely happy, paying respect to the Buddha immediately. Thinking that, just one night, tomorrow I will have a precious opportunity to meet Buddha right here in this house, he is very happy and still goes to sleep. Thinking that he would sleep well, but no, during the night he could not sleep. He got up three times because he thought it was morning, but the night was still thick. Finally, unable to wait, he woke up. Although it was not yet morning, he still decided to go to Truc Lam to find Buddha.
When he reached the monastery campus, it was dawn in the morning. Although his heart was impatient, he was also afraid. Suddenly he heard a voice calling him by name: "Reaching!" Looking straight ahead, he saw a person, and a premonition informed him, that person was the Buddha. That's right, it was the Buddha, at that time he was walking meditation outside. When there was a glimpse of someone coming, he knew immediately that it was Tu Dat! He woke up, taking a step forward. In a solemn and respectful way, he bowed his hands to Him. He introduced himself and told Buddha his mood from yesterday until now, then asked Buddha to teach him about morality. It was a morning at Truc Lam monastery, after Buddha's third retreat.
After hearing the first sermon, his mind lit up. He happily bowed and asked Buddha to accept him as his home disciple. Buddha gladly accepted. When the Buddha instructed monks to make offerings at his brother-in-law's house, he also asked the Buddha and the monks on the next day to come here to increase their offerings due to his offerings. In this monastic ceremony, Tu Dat solemnly asked the Buddha and monks to come to his home town, to spread the Dharma. He vowed to establish a large monastery at the Citadel to offer Buddha and congregation as a base for studying and practicing in Kieu Tát La kingdom.

The above request was promised by Buddha. He immediately returned to Xa Ve to find a place to build the monastery. He observed many places around the city, but he did not like it. Then, Prince Tu Da (Jeta) of Kieu Tat La country, there is a garden of trees close to the citadel, due to the king's father, Prasenajit - Pasenadi (1). The place is spacious, pure, beautiful, elegant scenery, it is a suitable place to establish a monastery. Practitioner Tu Dat was very satisfied, went to the imperial palace to meet the prince to negotiate to buy back. Meeting the prince, he presented his desire to buy the prince's garden to build a monastery to offer the Buddha and his congregation, as a basis for studying and propagating. The prince said jokingly:
- That garden is for my father. I love it like gold. If you can bring the pure gold to the ground all over the garden, I will sell it to you.
But Tu Dat said it was a serious word, and answered:
- Yes sir. Tomorrow morning I will bring gold and follow the conditions of the prince who just made it.
So surprise! The prince was startled by surprise:
- I'm just joking, but that garden I don't want to sell. You don't bring gold!
But the author still took seriously:
- Dear Prince! He is a king. What he said, it cannot be denied.
The Prince had to give in, but he still wanted Tu Dat not to have enough gold so he could not lose the garden. Do not let the prince have time to say anything more, Tu Dat rushed to report.

The next morning, when the crown prince came to the garden, Tu Dat's gold had already arrived, and his servants were lining gold on the garden ground. The prince witnessed the golden lining that felt more and more strange. Premonition Prince this is not normal. The head of the fake man gave up a pile of gold in a cheap way to just buy a garden of only valuable entertainment, not having any practical benefits like this, what is it actually? Thus, the person he called the "Buddha" must be a formidable character! At that time, the gold was spread out close to the garden, and Tu Dat was looking at the trees. thoughtful, the prince came to pat Tu Dat's shoulder, asking:
- What are you thinking without continuing to lining up gold? Do you want to change your mind?
Tu Dat startled, hurriedly answered:
- Not so, I was thinking about how to cover the trees with gold. It's too hard!
Then the prince asked him to tell him about the Buddha and his congregation, see what is special. Tu Dat's eyes suddenly lit up with pride. He began to talk about Buddha's outstanding personality, morality and wisdom, about the teachings that Buddha taught him, and about the noble and virtuous life of the congregation. The prince heard what he said, also felt excited in his heart, immediately suggested:
- Well, enough gold lining is enough, don't think anymore. As for the remaining vacant land, and all the trees in the garden, I would like to offer Buddha, called to contribute a little to his beautiful work. Think of it as he offered the land and I offered it to build a monastery. Being understood by a person like the prince and sincerely supporting him, Tu Dat was joyful and unspeakable. Since then, the garden has been called the "Lonely Level Garden with Ky Da tree".
So the site was there, layman Tu Dat immediately returned to the King's house to submit to Buddha, and asked Buddha to give his opinion on the construction of the monastery. The Buddha sent a venerable author to the Venerable Phat and went to Xa Ve and Tu Dat to look after the construction work.
Arriving in Xa Ve, the Venerable Xa Loi is residing right in the garden to facilitate the transfer. In the evening, false religious people often say the dharma right at the garden. The number of people listening to the dharma is growing, the Buddha has not come yet, the Dharma has been admired by the people.
Four months later, construction work was completed. The monastery has Buddha's net, there are monks, monasteries, lecture halls, convalescence homes, baths, lakes, walking meditation paths ... considered to be full of comfort, and seem more superficial. Truc Lam monastery. The monastery is called by many names: Ky Vien, Ky Hoan, Lonely, or Single Life.
Venerable Xa Loi went back to the King of Xa Xa to invite Buddha and increase them to the Vassal. In the meantime, layperson of Aunt Poison and Prince Tu Da, he prepared everything perfectly to welcome Buddha and the congregation.
During the last residence in Xa Ve, venerated Xa Loi Phat was challenged by hundreds of renowned hermit of paganism. With wisdom and eloquence, false religion has subdued them all and brought them into the path of righteous dharma.
Both the Loneliness family are devout Buddhists. His wife is a pious housewife. All three daughters are passionate. The youngest son at first did not like to go to the temple to listen to the dharma, the conduct was not very good, but thanks to the skillful teaching of his parents, he also listened to the Buddha's teachings, and became an exemplary model.

In the previous days, the story of "the head of the monk Tu Dat did not regret gold and silver, bought the garden of Prince Tu Da to build a monastery for the enlightened and his congregation will come from the kingdom of Ma Kiet" , has been spread among the people of the capital Xa Ve; now the story of "a disciple of the enlightened one who has argued over the hundreds of professors known as Brahmin" makes the people happily welcome a new religion; and layman Tu Dat, so that the faith for the Buddha Dharma is more and more profound and hard to move. Therefore, the day when the Buddha led the congregation to enter the capital of Xa Ve, the people in the city automatically accompanied the layman Tu Dat and Thai Tu Ki Da, welcoming the true Buddha, as a great festival of capital.
Layman and prince instructed the Buddha and the congregation to go straight to Ky Vien monastery. Seeing that the establishment was thoughtfully built, Buddha praised Tu Dat's merit offerings.

Ky Vien was a great center of study and practice built after Truc Lam monastery. Buddha went through the fourth retreat here. From the twenty-second retreat season, due to the occasional monks, every year until the rainy season, he returned to settle in Xa Ve. In total, at this monastery, the Buddha settled all nineteen times. Most of the sutras have also been given the Buddhist doctrine here. The head of the Sisters of Loneliness is often the object of Buddha's teaching of lay teachings.
It can be said that the Level of Solitude went to the monastery everyday to visit the Buddha and learn. His mind is really solid. All his family are devout Buddhists. His wife is a pious housewife. All three daughters are passionate. The youngest son at first did not like to go to the temple to listen to the dharma, the conduct was not very good, but thanks to the skillful teaching of his parents, he also listened to the Buddha's teachings, and became an exemplary model.
When this son married, he encountered an unruly wife, the rich man, did not listen to his parents-in-law, did not admire the husband's advice, but did not worship the Dharma. One day, the Buddha came to visit lay Buddhist monk Tu Dat, just when his daughter-in-law was shouting loudly at home. He immediately called her up and preached to her a sermon on "the seven wives of the world." After listening to this sermon, she was ashamed and promised Buddha that she was determined to change her mind to become a gentle wife, a filial daughter-in-law. Since then, the Buddhist monk Tu Dat has become an exemplary whole family.
The alms-giving happiness of Tu Dat layman is immense. For society, he always left out a part of the property to support all the poor, lonely, homeless, without relatives to rely on. He helps, defends and protects them. Because of that, he was loved and respected by everyone, from the king, the great gods in the court, to the people of the same nation. For the Buddha and the congregation, in addition to offering the monastery of Ky Vien, he was also interested (along with the female lay monk Ty Xa Khu - see the next chapter) to provide shelter, robes, food and medicine. enamel for monks and nuns from anywhere to become Xa Ve.
The thirty-seventh settlement season, Buddha dwells at Ky Vien monastery. One day after the dharma talk, the monk Tu Dat's wife said to Buddha that her husband is seriously ill, and may not live much longer. The next day, the Buddha along with two religious venerable Xa Loi Phat and A Nan visited Tu Dat. Seeing the Buddha and two false religious men, he was very happy. To comfort him, Buddha taught:
- Tu Dat! He lived a meaningful life all his life. He has done so with the suffering of so many people. He also contributed a great deal of energy to enlightened propaganda that was spread everywhere. He lived according to the righteous Dharma, created happiness for himself, for his family, and for many people in society. Now he should nourish. The Loi Loi Xa teacher will visit him from time to time and guide his studies.
Nearly a month later, the layman Tu Dat's family came to the monastery to report to the venerable Xa Loi Phat that the sickness of the renunciation became severe. Religions of the false religion and new false religion A Nan visited Tu Dat. He could not sit up, just lay on the bed and received two false religious men. Knowing this was the last moment of his life, venerating Xa Loi, he immediately gave him a great sermon; just taught and taught him to follow. When he heard and visualized the lesson, his tears suddenly flowed on his cheeks. False religion A Nan saw that, asked:
- Layman Tu Dat! Star? Are you afraid that reflection doesn't work, and does the spirit become debilitating?
- White religious fake A Nan! I have no fear, my spirit is not debilitating. I admire very successfully, I cry because I'm so touched. I have served the Buddha and they have grown for more than thirty years, have heard many teachings taught by The Buddha, yet never have I heard any profound and miraculous lesson like the one today.
Venerable Xa Loi Loi explained:
- Layman Tu Dat! These profound profound teachings are often taught only to monks and nuns.
- White two false religious! Every disciple of the layman also has someone who can hear, understand and practice this profound profound Dharma. Please respect the two religious people with the Buddha, please allow the lay people to hear and practice the Dharma far away from that mystery.
Layman Tu Dat suddenly passed away that afternoon. The two false religious people have stayed for a long time for him.

The image of the lonely layman in the hearts of Buddhists

As Buddhists, we all have the same opinion about Mr. Su Dat Ta (Sudatta), that is, the layman of the Doctors, who has great merit in the mission of maintaining the Dharma and improving society during the Buddha pillar - 623 years ago Gia To era. This judgment is primarily aimed at his devoted role and work on the two aspects of Path and Life!
In terms of Life, he contributed positively and effectively to the social improvement work through the establishment of the Vocational Training Center, the Hunger Rescue Center, the Nursing Institute, the Orphanage, especially five hundred permanent rations. at home for those who are hungry for food. He did not know how to refuse. His house is like a well, like a sweet spring. Anyone who needs it is at their disposal. Therefore, he was proclaimed by the common people as "The Unique Lady" (Anàthapindika).

On the Dao side, he was a great dharmapala, the first saint of the Buddha (Sotàpanno), who was a good intellectual of the entire Buddhists of the contemporary era.
For the dharma, the Single Sisters are a male layperson who both teaches and has the ability to speak and speak. It was the Buddha who encouraged him before the Sangha: "The monks! As soon as some monks have lived in the Church for a long time, when they have not enough profound teachings to be able to answer to the Madame Magi The subject is exactly the same as the Tiger! ".
He absolutely revered the dharma as revered by the Buddha. He set up many lecture halls in the city of Sāvat, so that the public could hear and learn the doctrine. He knew that, if only helping pure material, lack of spiritual elements, family and social life would also be stuck. The only secret to help clear the roadmap to the ultimate happiness is the Dharma. Because righteous Dharma is the main focus, is the material of life and death that has the ultimate combination of solving, two DAO missions - Life is very complicated.
In the process of coordinating the task, Loneliness has shown a role in itself as a self-witness. Not that he is such a typical embodiment in times of prosperity, but as soon as the decline also retains its form. His commitment to volunteering to serve the dharma not only has the local history of Sino-India, but also has the global character of the era.
With typical images of historical nature, he granted a special picture of a humane and colorful humanitarian painting.

With typical images with historical characteristics, Mr. Grant Herod has created a very lively humanitarian picture, colored "humanity", "Saint Thanh" molded cage, hung in the middle of the grand court, but the image is always bright and bright in the sky of East Asia.

For the Elder Sangha, Aunt Poison is a great benefactor from the Sangha. He is like water, they rise like fish. He devoted himself to voluntarily offering food to the five hundred monks who passed by his house. Every day, he went to Ky Vien monastery twice: noon and afternoon. At noon he went to the temple to make offerings to the Buddha and increase them with food, the afternoon of smoothies. Monks, especially young monks and novice monks, see his presence as a sign of "God of Fortune". He never went to the temple. Usually every afternoon, after listening to the dharma, he went around the pagoda to timely offer individual needs to each one.
Within the family, he guides and rests them on the righteous belief. Only one grandson was severely disincentive, although he helped and sensed, but failed, so he died on a wandering, unclaimed road.
For thousands of servants, he viewed them as relatives and helped them all, without discrimination. As soon as in the days of pure boyhood, he also guided them and their families to take care of the boys.
For friends, the majority are thanks to him, but they respect the Dharma. Just as Thai Prince Ky Da also thanks to his pure heart and influence, his righteous beliefs and beliefs have lived a good life.
In summary, about all living areas, from oneself, family, lineages, servants, and friends to ordinary people, they all inherited the merit of his merits through the specific four-law measures, especially his father. photographer.
With typical historical images, he granted a very lively humanitarian picture, colored "humanity", "Hien Thanh" molded cage, hung in the middle of the grand court, but the image is always bright and bright in the sky of East Asia.
Today, if anyone is in love with the Buddha's relics in Central India, when he comes to the States of the Vihara - the first historical temple built by him, the Buddha and the Saints in the Competition (Sàvatthì) then you will be able to see the temple worshiping this dharmapala, about two kilometers away from Ky Vien Tu. Although being devastated by time and paganism, the earth still embraces the form, the sky is still covered in spirituality, the sunshine still warms the spirit and the nights of the full moon of the week, Hang Nga also leaves the temple. supply, to beautify a historical relic of thousands of years. END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.7/3/2019.
