Majjhima Nikaya
35. Saccaka
(Claslascaca sutta)
This is how I hear.
At the time of the Exalted One in Vesali, Dai Lam Forest, at the Chongqing Hall.
At that time Niganthaputta Saccaka in Vesali warlike nature, skilful arguments, are widely worshiped. He often proclaims to the congregation of Vesali: "I do not see a Sa-or a Brahmin, who is the Head of the Church, the head of the Church, When you talk to me, no one is trembling, no panic, no fear, no one is not sweat armpits. , the pillar when the dialogue with me also tremble, also panic, also terrified, yet another ordinary person.
Then Assaji, in the morning, emblazoned with a bowl of rice in Vesali for alms. Niganthaputta Saccaka, often visited the world, see Assaji worshiper from afar go. After seeing it, Niganthaputta Saccaka immediately approached Assaji, expressing his inquiries, greetings, and social standing. After standing on one side, Niganthaputta Saccaka said to Assaji:
- Sayyid Assaji, How Gotama Gotoga Trained His Disciples? And what subjects do most teachings Gotama give to disciples?
"This is Aggivessana, the Blessed One who trains the disciples. In these disciplines, most Gotama teachings are given to disciples: "Monks, beings are impermanent, life is impermanent, thought to be impermanent, onions are impermanent, It is impermanent, bhikkhus, an identity is not self, feeling is not self, is not self, is not self, is not self, is all impermanent, all dhamma is not self. Thus Aggivessana, the Blessed One trained the disciples. Thus, the disciplines that most of the Blessed One teach are given to disciples.
- Sayyid Assaji, we were really disappointed to hear that Satma Gotama preached so. It is possible that we will meet with Phra Gotama some time and at some point. Very likely there will be a discussion. It is possible that we will eliminate that wrong view.
At that time, there were about five hundred Licchavi gathered in the lecture hall for some public affairs. Then the Niganthaputta Saccaka arrives at the Licchavi, who, after arriving, speaks to them as follows:
- Come, the Licchavi Pharaoh; Visit the Licchavi Pharaoh. Today there will be talk between Gotama sat with us. If Sa-Gotama stood in dialogue with me like the monk Assaji, his famous disciple did, then as a hand grasping the hairs of a long-haired sheep, can pull forward, jerk back and forth; Likewise, I use words, dragons, jerks, around Gotama Gotama. Just as an athlete makes a wine, after sinking a large barrel of wine into a deep lake, grasp a corner of the barrel that can be pulled, jerked, and rounded; Likewise, I use words, dragons, jerks, around Gotama Gotama. And like a drunken athlete, living naked, after grasping a sieve, shaking and shaking, shaking. In the same way, we will use words, shake and shake, shake around Gotama Gotama. And like a sixty-year-old elephant, After diving into a deep lake, play water jets; Also, I think we will play water-spraying games with Satma Gotama. Come on, the Licchavi Pharaoh. Come to the Licchavi Pharaoh. Today there will be talk between Gotama sat with us.
Some Licchavi say the following:
- How Gotama Got Talks Can Beat Niganthaputta Saccaka? Niganthaputta Saccaka will defeat Gotama.
Some Licchavi say the following:
- How can only Niganthaputta Saccaka can conquer the Blessed One? The Sun will win Niganthaputta Saccaka.
Then Niganthaputta Saccaka with about five hundred Licchavi surrounded, went to the Great Hall, lecture hall.
At that time a large number of monks are walking back and forth between the sky. Niganthaputta Saccaka to the monks, after arriving, immediately told them:
- The fake monks, now Where are the gods Gotama? We want to meet Gotama.
"Aggivessana, the Blessed One, after going into the forest of Dai Lam, was sitting under a tree for lunch.
Then Niganthaputta Saccaka, along with the great Licchavi, after penetrating into the forest of Da Lam, came to the Blessed One. After arriving at Niganthaputta, Saccaka spoke with the Blessed One, asking for courtesy and sitting down. Some Licchavi honored the Buddha and sat down on one side; Some of Licchavi told the Blessed One the blessings, asked the courtesy and sat down; Some of the Licchavi agreed to marry the Blessed One and sit down on one side; Some Licchavi proclaim their names and sit down on one side; Some of Licchavi sat quietly on one side.
Niganthaputta Saccaka after sitting down one side told the Blessed One:
- I would like to ask Gotama a problem, if Gotama allowed me to be asked.
- Aggivessana, ask as you want.
- How did Gotama train his disciples? What subjects are most taught by Gotama?
- Aggivessana, like this I train my disciples. In these disciplines, the majority of Ta teachings are given to the disciple: "O bhikkhus, rúpa is impermanent, life is impermanent, thought is impermanent, oneness is impermanent, consciousness is impermanent. bhikkhus, identity is not self, feeling is not self, is not self, is not self, is not self, is all impermanent, all dhamma is not self. So, Aggivessana, I train the disciples. In such subjects, much of teaching is reserved for disciples.
- This is Gotama, I have an example.
The Sun said:
"Aggivessana, let's say the example.
- Like the seeds, these plants are grown, grown, and flourished because they are all on the ground, leaning on the ground. As a result, the seeds, the plants are grown, grown, flourished. Phra Gotama, as these heavy industries are created, all of them are on the ground, leaning on the ground. As a result, these heavy industries are created. Similarly, this Venerable Gotama, like this one, whose self is rupa, by virtue of refuge good and evil; Like this person, the self is life, because of relying on good or evil;Like this person that self is thought, by refuge to do good or evil; Like this person, the self is the action, the refuge of good deeds or evil; Like this person whose self is awake, by refraining from doing good or evil.
- Aggivessana, is that you say: "Lust is my self, my feeling is my self, my self, my self, my self".
- Phra Gotama, so I say: "Lust is my self, my feeling is my self, my self is self, my self is self, my self is self. And so is the mass.
- This Aggivessana, what is this mass relation to him? Aggivessana, explain your words.
- Phra Gotama, so I say: "Lust is my self, my feeling is my self, my self is self, my self is self, my self is self.
- Aggivessana, I will ask you to return to this matter. He can answer if he wants. Hey Aggivessana, what do you think? A karmasit emperor, like King Pasenadi of Kosala, King Ajatasattu, the son of Magadha Vedehi, has the power in his own country to kill those who deserve to be killed. Who should be deprived of those who deserve to be removed?
- The emperor Gotama, a kshatriya empowered, like King Pasenadi of Kosala, King Ajatasattu, the son of Magadha Vedehi, who had power in his own country, wanted to kill those who deserved it. killed, want to deprive those who deserve to be deprived, want to remove those who deserve to be removed. The Evangelist Gotama, to the congregations, the masses, like the Vajjias, the Malla, still has power in their own country, wants to kill those who deserve to be killed, want to deprive those who deserve to be deprived, The king of Jakarta was the initiate, like Pasenadi of Kosala, King Ajatasattu, the son of Magadha Vedehi. You have Gotama, he has that power and deserves to have that power.
- Aggivessana, what do you think? As he said, "It is my self," he has the power to do that and said: "My color is like this, my color is not like this"?
As said, Niganthaputta Saccaka kept silent. The second time, the Blessed One told Niganthaputta Saccaka:
- Aggivessana, what do you think? As he said, "It is my self," he has the power to do that and said: "My color must be like this, my color is not like this"?
The second time, Niganthaputta Saccaka remained silent.
Then the Blessed One told Niganthaputta Saccaka:
- Aggivessana, now you have to answer. Not when He kept silent. Aggivessana, who was asked by the Tathagata for the third time a reasonable question without answer, his early days would be broken into seven pieces in place.
At that time Vajirapani (Vajirapani) was holding a large, red, bright blaze, standing in the air above Niganthaputta Saccaka's head with the intention: "If the Buddha asks the third question, If you do not answer Niganthaputta Saccaka, then I'll scratch my head in seven pieces. " Only the Exalted One and Niganthaputta Saccaka saw Vajirapani. Niganthaputta Saccaka scared, panicked, hairs up, reverse, only find shelter in the Exalted, only find the security in the Exalted, only find refuge in the Exalted,
"Askama, ask me, I will answer.
- Aggivessana, what do you think? As he said, "It is my self," then he has the power to do that and said: "My color must be like this, my color is not like this"?
- No, Gotama.
- Be careful, Aggivessana. After thorough examination, Aggivessana, please answer. His last words did not match his preface, his preface was inconsistent with his last words. Hey Aggivessana, what do you think? As he said, "feeling is my self," he has the power over that feeling and can say, "My life must be like this, my life is not like this"?
- No, Gotama.
- Be careful, Aggivessana. After thorough examination, Aggivessana, please answer. His last words did not match his preface, his preface was inconsistent with his last words. Hey Aggivessana, what do you think? As he said, "Think of my self," what authority do you have for that thought and say, "My imagination must be like this, my thoughts are not like this?"
- No, Gotama.
- Be careful, Aggivessana. After thorough examination, Aggivessana, please answer. His last words did not match his preface, his preface was inconsistent with his last words. Hey Aggivessana, what do you think? As he says: "The actions are my self," What is the power over that self, and says, "My actions must be like this, my actions are not like this?" To
- No, Gotama.
- Be careful, Aggivessana. After thorough examination, Aggivessana, please answer. His last words did not match his preface, his preface was inconsistent with his last words. Hey Aggivessana, what do you think? As he said, "Consciousness is my self," what authority do you have for that self and say, "My consciousness must be like this, my consciousness is not like this?"
- No, Gotama.
- Be careful, Aggivessana. After thorough examination, Aggivessana, please answer. His last words did not match his preface, his preface was inconsistent with his last words. Hey Aggivessana, what do you think? Sacred is often or impermanent?
- Impermanent, Phra Gotama.
- What is impermanent then it is miserable?
- It is suffering, Phra Gotama.
- What is impermanent, suffering, mutilated; Is it reasonable that the grocery store itself is: "This is mine, this is me, this is my self"?
- No, Gotama.
- Aggivessana, what do you think? Feeling ... (as above) ... thought ... (like above) ... the actions ... (like above) ... Aggivessana, what do you think? Is consciousness often or impermanent?
- Impermanent, Phra Gotama.
- What is impermanent or miserable?
- It is suffering, Phra Gotama.
- What is impermanent, suffering, mutilated; Is it reasonable that the grocery store itself is: "This is mine, this is me, this is my self"?
- No, Gotama.
- Aggivessana, what do you think? Attachment of suffering, attachment to suffering, craving suffering, suffering and said: "This is mine, this is me, this is my self." Can he handle the suffering of his own or can he live to eradicate suffering?
- How could that be, Gotama? Can not do that, Phra Gotama.
"Aggivessana, like a man who wants to be the core of a tree, looking for the core of a tree, goes here and there looking for a tree. He took a sharp hammer, went into the forest. He can see here a large banana tree upright, young, without bumps. He can cut the tree. After cutting the tree, he cut the tree. After cutting the tops of the trees, he can strip off the curled leaves. But when he leaves the curled leaves, he can not find the tree, saying nothing to the tree. This too Aggivessana, when asked by Ta, I question, I questioned his words, he himself was empty, empty, failed. But this Aggivessana, the words that he proclaimed to the congregation in Vesali: "I do not see any Sa môngon or Brahman, the Host, the Patriarch, the Chief of the Church, the oil There is an A-la-drought, Chief Justice, When talking with me, no one is not tremble, no panic, no fear, no one is not sweat armpits. I have a dialogue with a pillars accidentally, the pillars when he talks with me also tremble, also panic, also terrified, yet another ordinary person. "But from his forehead, this one But it was from his forehead, Aggivessana, that the sweat was flowing down, after he had climbed the upper leg, was falling to the ground, and I, Aggivessana, had no sweat on my body. But it was from his forehead, this Aggivessana, that the sweat was flowing down, after he had climbed over the head of the robe, was falling to the ground. And I, Aggivessana, have no sweat on my body. But it was from his forehead, this Aggivessana, that the sweat was flowing down, after he had climbed over the head of the robe, was falling to the ground. And I, Aggivessana, have no sweat on my body.
Then the Blessed One reveals himself to the Society. Upon hearing this, Niganthaputta Saccaka was silent, ashamed, shrugged his shoulders, bowed his head, sat in awe, speechless.
Then Dummukha, a Licchavi son, learned that Niganthaputta Saccaka was silent, shamed, shrugged, bowed, sat down, not saying a word,
- Lord, I have an example.
The Sun said:
"Dummukha, let's say the example.
- Well, as a lotus lake not far from the village or town, there are crabs. Lord Buddha, then a large number of sons or daughters went out of the village or town, to the other lot, after arriving, dive into the lake and catch the crab and put it on dry land. Lord, when the crab sticks out, the boys or girls, with the rod or piece of clay, cut, break and smash that. Thus, White World, the crab was cut, broken, broken all the more, can not swim into the lotus lake as before. Also, the Buddha, all theories, controversies of Niganthaputta Saccaka was cut off, broken, broken. And now, the Blessed One, Niganthaputta Saccaka, can not go to the Blessed One, not to say that he intends to talk.
Upon hearing this, Niganthaputta Saccaka told Licchavi Dummukha:
- Stop saying, Dummukha! Please stop saying, Dummukha! We did not talk to him. We are discussing with Gotama. Letama, let us leave our sayings and the words of the other Brahman and Brahman. I think this impassive conversation is regrettable! To what extent, a disciple of Gotama became a Buddhist teacher, accepted the teachings, doubted the deduction, reluctantly cured, achieved fearlessness, lived in the Diocese , who refuses to rely on?
- Here, here Aggivessana, my disciple, for all material, past, future, present, internal or external, crude or technical, paralyzed or won, far or near, as true to Intellectual is: "This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self." To every sensation ... to every thought ... to every action ... to every consciousness, past, future, present, internal or external, coarse or physical, paralyzed or won, far or It is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self. To this extent Aggivessana, a disciplinarian of Me, became a teacher of the Church, accepted the teachings, suspected exclusion, reluctantly renounced, achieved independence, lived in the church The teacher, not rely on anyone.
- To what extent, this monk Gotama, bhikkhus is an arahant, the smuggled or the end, the practice of chastity, the deeds done, laid down the burden, items The goal has been achieved, the history has been removed, the mind is liberated.
- Here, here Aggivessana, bhikkhus for any material, past, future, present, internal or external, coarse or meditative, paralyzed or won, far or near, After being as close to the righteous mind, "This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self," is the proof of liberation. For any dream ... any idea ... any action ... for any consciousness, past, future, present, internal or external, coarse or paralyzed, paralyzed or won , far or near, all consciousness, after being so attentive to righteous wisdom: "This is not mine, this is not me, this is not my self" liberation. To this extent, this Aggivessana, bhikkhus is the Arahant, the smuggled or perfected, the cultivated, the deeds done,
With such a liberating mind, Aggivessana, bhikkhu attains the three supreme deities: the supreme knowledge, the supreme path, the ultimate liberation. So liberated, Aggivessana, he just respect, worship, worship, offering Tathagata: "The Buddha was enlightened, he preached to enlightenment. The Sun has quieted, he preached to calm the Buddha passed away, he passed the sermon to pass. The Buddha has Nirvana, he sermon to witness Nirvana.
Hearing this, Niganthaputta said to the Blessed One:
- Evangelist Gotama, we are so blatant, we are so reckless. We dared to use words to argue with Gotama! This is probably the safest way for a man to fight a mad elephant, but there is no safety for a man who fought against Gotama! This is probably the safest way for a fighter to fight a fire, but there is no safety for a fighter against Gotama! This is probably the safest way for a man to fight a fierce snake, but there is no safety for a man who fights with the goddess Gotama! Phra Gotama, we are so blatant, we are so contemptuous. We dare to think, using words to fight with Gotama! Mayor Tonks accepted Gotama,
The Buddha silently accepted.
Then Niganthaputta Saccaka, after knowing that the Buddha had accepted, immediately told the Licchavi:
- The Licchavi worshipers listen to me. Simon Gotama is invited to eat with them tomorrow. Give me what you think is trendy.
Then the Licchavi, after the night was full, brought Niganthaputta Saccaka about five hundred servings of rice cooked with milk. Then Niganthaputta Saccaka, at his garden, prepared the hearty, hard and soft dishes, and gave the hourly news to the Blessed One:
- Phra Gotama, now it's time. Ready to cook.
Then, in the morning, he embraced yoga bowl and went to the garden of Niganthaputta Saccaka. After he arrived, he sat on the place prepared with them. Then Niganthaputta Saccaka, who hands out the hard and soft dishes for them, Bhikkhu, headed by the Buddha. Then Niganthaputta, after learning that the Blessed One had finished his meal, had left the bowl, took another low chair and sat down. After sitting down one side, Niganthaputta Saccaka Bach:
- This is Gotama, in this occasion, if there is merit and merit, hope that the generals will enjoy happiness.
- Aggivessana, there will be (merit) for the givers, for the person deserving of Himself, although He is not without greed, not without the yard, not without the si; There will be (merit) for you, Aggivessana, for those who deserve to be offered Me, and I am the one without greed, no yard, no si. END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.3/12/2018.
