CHAPTER 6. REbirth.

Journalist circles can not be avoided

The karmic habits, whether good or bad,
that we have planted in the stream of consciousness in the past,
will cause us to be reborn,
with qualities of happiness or suffering according to karma.

Many find it hard to believe that there will be a reincarnation when this life ends. How do we know that there is a possibility of rebirth?

Although modern science can not provide solid evidence to answer this question, we should not deny the evidence of practices and spiritual experiences that have found the truth. of life. Regeneration or reincarnation are the central pillars of many Eastern belief systems, and some Jewish mystical schools also accept that rebirths take place in a continuous cycle of life. Many Buddhist monks can truly recall and describe their past lives. The Buddha himself has told hundreds of stories of his past lives in the famous book called "The Birth of the Buddha". He also knows the previous lives of others.

Even ordinary people - of different nationalities, races and religions - naturally remembered their backgrounds in previous lives. They also recalled their families and the cities they had lived in before. Particularly impressive is the case that many babies have told many vivid details about their previous lives, although in their current lives, they have never been to where they were born. First, or have met someone from that place. The most famous study on childhood memory was done by Dr. Ian Stevenson. This doctor has documented thousands of cases in South Asia and the Middle East for more than 40 years, in an effort to study the subject in a scientific way. In Tibet, there are countless examples of dying people who know the name of their future parents and where they will be born in the next life. And there are countless cases of children recalling details of their past lives.

In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, there are thousands of monks and nuns called Tulku (Tibetan:  tulku, sPrul sku , Sanskrit:  nirmanakaya, meaning "relatives"). It is believed that a tulku is the embodiment of a fully enlightened Buddha or the rebirth of a highly accomplished Zen master. At the moment of dying, the lamas sometimes tell the disciples where they are going to be born as a tulku. In some cases, tulkus, as children, often tell people who they are in their previous lives and what they want or need to do in this life. However, in recognizing a person as tulku, the most commonly accepted way is, after having examined many manifestations, that person must receive the official recognition of a highly-lama weight. But there are also those who are wrongly identified as tulku by the influence of ambitious parents, either by other selfish interests or merely by mistake.

Some tulkus recall their past lives and express the qualities of their past life. For example, my teacher, the four-year-old Dodrupchen Rinpoche, surprised many by constantly telling them about the whereabouts of the Third Dodrupchen, reciting his prayers. never taught, read verses that are unknown from his memory, and he has revealed many other miracles. He also described the Pure Land of Guru Padmasambhava as he had seen.

Even in the United States, more and more people are accepting reincarnation. A Gallup poll conducted many years ago reported that 25% of Americans surveyed said they believed the soul was born into another body after death. However, the dominant trend, that is, the open religions of the

West, denied the idea of rebirth. However, they often agree with Buddhism on two important points: If you often forget yourself and serve others, a happier life expectancy awaits you after death; And if you do anger and harm other beings, you will face bad consequences.

Most religions raise hopes of improving our future situation regardless of what we have done to date. No matter what the different religions call the name and description of this potential change - for example, repentance, forgiveness, conversion, redemption, soul salvation, or solving It often means that through our own intentions and efforts combined with the hope of a certain source of divine grace, we have the opportunity to lift us and others. a happier, more spiritual life.

DISCUSSION OR REHABILITATION?

According to Buddhism, everyone must reincarnate after death, unless they can surpass the cycle of birth and death by attaining enlightenment through meditation. Once you have attained enlightenment completely, you will never be reborn in one of the secular worlds, because you are no longer governed by the karmic cycle that renders one. born into another life. You will remain in the endless unity of the wisdom of the Buddha and the Pure Land of the Buddha, the Ultimate Body and the body of the Buddha. It is a state of utmost peace, joy and supreme wisdom. Then, others will be able to see your incarnation appear on the earth in various forms and only those who have karmic connections with you will see you.

To attain enlightenment in this life (or in one of the other three stages of our cycle of reincarnation) is the accomplishment of great masters. If you are a normal being - not a guru who has attained sublime, and is not enlightened or completely enlightened - then after death you will certainly be reborn in your own kamma. You once again start another stage of your life, the stage that we mentioned in chapter 1. In this chapter, we will look at why we are reborn and we will be reborn. How are we going to reincarnate into a pure land or into one of the six realms: gods, arahats, humans, animals, hungry ghosts and hell.

Even if you are not a guru and you are in the midst of karma, if you have accumulated the positive karma of good deeds, you will be reborn in a pure land. in a human realm with noble qualities. By doing so, you will benefit others. Gradually you will be able to attain the ultimate goal of enlightenment.

If you are reborn in a pure land, it will be a pure land. This pure land is not the ultimate pure land of the Buddha. You are reborn in a pure land thanks to the positive karma. You will still have a dualism, enjoy positive emotions and feelings of bliss. But after you have been reborn in a pure land you will never waver in the journey towards the goal of enlightenment. Achieving Buddhahood is a sure thing. (We will look at the description of the Pureland Pure Land in the next chapter.)

If you are reborn in one of the six realms, you are trapped in a material body (body or other body), influenced by the environment and culture of society. And while you live in that body, you can do things to improve your karma in order to have a better life or future. However, you will not be able to attain the last state as the eternal ultimate which is the quality of the Buddha body in absolute Buddhahood. For a person who is prepared, such a complete transformation is easier after death, when one is no longer entangled in this harsh body of material.

THE REASONS OF REINFORCEMENT

Regeneration is always the cause. The causes of rebirth in the six realms are the six afflictive emotions: arrogance, jealousy, lust, ignorance, greed and hatred. These disturbing emotions come from the concept of the duality of mind. Binary concepts arise when our mind grasps the self of any object of the mind, viewing the objects of the mind as real entities.

When we cling to "self," we form the habit of distinguishing between one and the other instead of seeing the one. This discriminating habit causes the afflictions of affliction like and dislike, wants and does not want, loves and hates. Then we express these emotions verbally or in action. The positive actions of the body and mind are repeated to create happiness and result in rebirth in the upper realms and the pure realms. The negative actions of the body and mind create suffering and result in rebirth in the lower realms.

I have said that if you are a highly accomplished guru, you can attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death for enlightenment. When you complete the intellectual insight of generosity - the non-essential nature that is our essence, your concept of "falling" will be liberated, marking the cessation of suffering and cause and effect. retribution. This means that there will be no reincarnation. By gaining that knowledge, you can become a natural source of gain for many others. However, most of us perceive and cling to the objects of the mind as real beings that exist and we strengthen it with the power of positive or negative emotions. In addition, we tend to express our emotions not only in thought and emotion but in more positive form, ie by word of mouth and action. These actions of body, speech, and mind create karma (ie, habits of habits or mindsets that influence life in our minds). It causes us to be reborn in a pure land or into the six worldly realms.

We must note that all dualistic concepts and emotions - even positive concepts and emotions such as caring for others, loving one another, and longing for the good of others - are There are attached to the "fall". So, while positive emotions are good, they have not yet reached perfection. Primordial wisdom, beyond binary thinking and emotions, is perfection. However, clinging to positive qualities is also a step toward perfection, which allows us to finally get rid of "falling" and experience a sense of well-being. Thus, the change from negative to positive from positive to perfect is the ideal path to Buddhahood, or perfect dharma.

SURVIVAL CHRISTMAS LIFE (LEACH)

The six worlds of the mundane world are called samsara or samsara. These six realms are depicted in the Buddhist image by the image called the Wheel of Reverence (see figure 1 on page 333). The cycle of samsara has three lower realms and three higher realms.

The three lower realms are the worlds of extreme suffering:

 In the hell realms, beings suffer from the endless heat of burning fires and the melting of metals or the cold of ice .
 In the realms of hunger, sentient beings suffer from hunger and thirst forever.
 In the animal realm, sentient beings are frightened, stupid and enslaved.

These sentient beings will not die of pain, even if they are burned down by hell flames, unless their rebirth is over.

The higher realms are those with more happiness but also with endless suffering.

 In the aesthetic world, beings enjoy material prosperity, but they suffer because of their conflict and continuous fighting.

 In the divine realms, sentient beings enjoy more happiness and prosperity, but these enjoyment are only the pleasures of sensuality that change and they suffer. They live a much longer life than human life, but because they lack awareness they feel short life. The goddess is a part of the mundane world, not immortal, not a heaven or a kingdom as in Western mythology. As soon as they graduate from the deities, these beings will suffer death and must be reborn in the lower realms. In these realms, they are also karmic.

 In our human realm, even if we are fortunate to enjoy intellectual capacities, material abundance and positive experiences, we suffer for birth, old age, sickness and death. We suffer for losing what we want because we are forced to accept what we do not want, because we do not have what we desire and have to protect what we have.

SUSPENSION: THE REVOLUTION OF REHABILITATION IN SIX

Which of the six worldly realms can be the place to wait for you in the next life? This depends on the dominant emotion you have programmed into your own Karma software. Is it a negative emotion such as hatred, greed, illusion, covetousness, jealousy and arrogance? Or is it a positive emotion such as kindness, generosity, understanding, contentment, joy and humility. The habit you have programmed into your mind will bring about the effect that you will reincarnate in the six realms or in the pure realms.

According to many sutras, the karmic retribution caused by emotions of hatred and exposure through aggressive words and actions leads to suffering from burns or frostbite, and these karmic causes also cause rejection. born into the hell realm.

In chapter 1, we talked about four components of an action that are necessary to create a fully constructed karma: the object (or base), the intention, the fulfillment, and the fulfillment. In the example of anger, the presence of a person or thing that you hate is the object. The motive for you to hate that object is the intention. The act of hating a person in the mind is the realization. To experience the feeling of hatred is the fulfillment. Whatever action you are taking, if it has all the four elements mentioned above, it will become a fully formed karma and it will surely have consequences in the future.

Many innocent people are angry or miserable because of the sense of hatred for people. And whatever they say or do becomes an outburst of that anger and that anger has caused pain and violence in their own lives and of all those involved with them. . If it is the nature of your present life - whether you admit it or not - you will not have peace of mind in your life. You only feel pain, fear and misery. Although you now have a human body, living in the human realm, your experience is just as terrible as being a sentient being in hell.

You may be acting as if you are strong, courageous and heroic, but in reality this appearance is just a way to cover up the unstable, vulnerable and vulnerable ego. friend. As soon as you die, due to the habits of anger that you have nurtured throughout your life, mental experiences and appearances will arise in your consciousness as the realm of hell. In fact, there is no powerful judge who condemns or punishes you. All these are just the reactions of the karmas that your afflictive emotions have etched into your mental stream. In the narratives of the deloges of the Middle Ages summarized in Chapter 5, we have seen very lively and horrific examples of the sufferings of hell. Here we have to remind ourselves that all the images, sounds, and emotions of the middle body and of the different realms are merely reflections of complicated things in our minds, Like the scenes we see in dreams, they are only signs of positive or negative emotions that we have programmed into our minds by accepting self, as real. Shantideva said:

All the fears and sufferings are so great
from the mind.
The Buddha taught the truth (Buddha).
Who created the instruments of the hell realms?
Who built those hot iron platforms?
Where did the fire come from?
"All are just reflections of your evil mind."
The Buddha taught so.

Just as in the case of anger, other kinds of karma caused by other afflictive emotions engraved into our consciousness, revealed through our words and deeds, are the cause. the corresponding suffering, causing us to reincarnate into the lower realms.

We can summarize the following:

 Feelings of hatred and anger that cause painful burning and cold numbness cause us to be reborn in the hell realms.
 The greedy and stingy feeling causes suffering from hunger and makes us reborn in the realms of hungry ghosts.
 Feeling ignorant or ignorant causes suffering from stupidity and fear that causes us to be born into the animal realms.
 Emotional craving or attachment causes suffering for birth, old age, sickness, death and makes us reborn in the human realm.
Emotional jealousy causes suffering because of war and conflict that causes us to reincarnate in the astral plane.
 Arrogant and arrogant feelings cause suffering due to distraction (forgetting the condition of suffering) and fear of death and causing people to be born into the divine realm.

Attachment, jealousy and arrogance at a higher level will become greedy.

Thus, the six disturbing emotions can condense into three negative emotions - greed, anger, delusion - which causes suffering and rebirth in the three lower realms.

As Nagarjuna Nagarjuna wrote:

Greed takes people to the realm of ghosts.
Anger brings people to the hell realm.
So much to bring people to the animal realm.

Not only the nature of emotion but also the level of emotion will also cause the person to reincarnate into a certain realm. According to Gampopa, any negative behavior you have done:

 If you do that evil behavior with anger, if you repeat it many times and if you do so against a very divine object or person, the consequences of that is reincarnation into the hell realm.

 If you commit acts of evil with greed, repeatedly and you do so against an average divine object or person, then the result will be rebirth. the scene of the ghost.

 If you have committed such evil behavior with ignorance, repeated it several times, and you do so against the object or a less spiritual individual, the result will be reincarnation into the animal kingdom. object.

The seriousness of kamma depends on whether you turn your afflictive emotions into evil actions or words, especially those of your evil ways. How hurt others and whether they cause others to do bad things.

Among the many karmas, karmas you will harvest first? First of all, you will suffer the results of the most intense karma in all your karmas. Then it will be the karma you created at the time of your death. So, what you do at the moment of your death will have a huge impact on the next steps in your future life. Next you will face the results of the karma in which you have the most experience and finally the karma you have created the most.

Because the causal life is ingrained in your mind, the good news is that you can avoid being reborn in a lower realm like hell if you change the way you think or act. It is the habit of your mind.

YOU CAN SELECT YOUR REINSTALLATION

In the later part of your middle-stage, you can face many fears, loneliness and pain. Emotional pressure of finding a place of rebirth is so great that you may not care about the quality of the place that will eventually reincarnate. At this point, you have to be very careful, because the chance to prevent reincarnation in an unwanted place and the possibility of reincarnation in a good place can be in your hands. To achieve this goal you must know how to recognize the signs of rebirth. We have discussed these signs in chapter 4 "The Middle" in the section entitled "Signs of regeneration await us" (see page 184).

If a positive or negative karma is pushing you away, you may not have the opportunity to choose where to reincarnate, because you are completely controlled by karma - in fact, the choice comes about in a way. Automatically have no sense of your being involved. But if your karma is not so strong, any effort you make will maximize your chances of a good reincarnation. To be successful in this, it is vital that you have an understanding of methods to block unwanted rebirths and choose the wings of good rebirth.

In Chapter 9, "Rituals for the dying and the dead," we will look at meditative rituals to avoid being born into the six realms, especially in the three lower realms. Here I summarize the teachings of stopping the signs of unwanted rebirth and choosing the signs of good rebirth.

Prevent unwanted births

If you are a highly accomplished meditator - one who has clearly perceived and perfected the enlightenment of the mind, you must remain in that state of clear awareness without oscillation. If you do that, instead of being reborn, you can attain Buddhahood.

If you do not have such clear perception or are not perfect, but if you have accumulated the pure virtues and devotion to a Buddha and a pure land, then you It should develop devotion to the Buddha, the Pure Land and make a strong wish to be reborn in that Pure Land. Such a wish will save you from the cycle of rebirth in the six realms and bring you rebirth into the pure land you desire.

For example, if in your life you have nurtured the habit of devotional Buddhahood - by trusting Him as a symbol of unconditional love, omniscient wisdom and unmatched power - and if at the moment of death or in the middle of the period, you can awaken the memory of devotion to Him and His Pure Land, then you will realize that at that moment there is the presence of the Infinite Buddha Quang and His Pureland Pure Land.

But how can you form this strong custom of devotion and trust? It will be formed gradually by always thinking about the Buddha, the Pure Land and their merits as well as reciting their prayers as much as possible. At first this may seem strange, but soon it will become familiar and eventually it will become part of your life and your breath. Then, after death, all your perceptions will arise in the form of Buddha images of love, peace and wisdom of a pure joyful and beautiful land. (For more information, see Appendix A.)

You may not have a kamma to reincarnate into a pure land, but you may have created karmas such as love, tolerance, right knowing, letting go, joy and humility. is by expressing that karma by helping others. If so, you can have the choice of reincarnation into one of the higher realms with positive qualities. So, you have to remember the signs of a certain realm of rebirth and choose that realm.

For example, if you are seeing the signs of the divine plane but you are seeking to be born into the human realm, you must stop the white light that is the sign of rebirth in the divine realm and instead Think about it and choose the blue light by going to the light.

While you are wandering in the middle, you can not think of your loved ones and your possessions at home, because these thoughts will distract you from the right path. You must concentrate your mind on the path of rebirth you have chosen.

As we saw in Chapter 4, the door to your rebirth in one of the six realms will appear as a faint light. The faint white light tells us the divine and the human realms. Yellow light usually represents the astral and animal realms. The animal kingdom can also be represented by the blood color and the astral plane by the color of a snowstorm or a storm of rain. A smoke-colored light tells us that the realm of hunger and light looks like a piece of wood or a piece of black wool floating on the surface of hell. You can see your own body transforming into the color of your realm that is about to reborn.

The following are some of the teachings that point out five ways to block the doorway to unwanted rebreathing doors:

1. When you see light streams as signs of future rebirths, you can also see a pair of men and women having sex, especially when you are aiming for rebirth in the human realm. That male representative represents your potential parent. If that happens then you do not go to them either to be attached to them or to hate them. Consider them as your groom's parents - the embodiment of your guru in male and female form. Or you can also see them as Padmasambhava united with his spiritual counterpart Yeshe Tsogal. Or do you see them as a couple of buddhas? Have a thought of reverence for them and offer them.

With strong devotion, you want to receive the teachings and blessings they give.

2. If you do not block the door of rebirth, then you see the couple as an elf couple such as the Buddha of Infinite Buddha or the Buddha of Compassion in the male and female form. Feel strongly that you are getting the blessings they give.

3. If you do not block the door of rebirth, you will reverse attachment and jealousy. Normally, if you are going to reproductive life as a man, you will feel attached to the woman of the couple making love and jealousy towards the man. If you are going to reincarnate as a woman, you will feel attached to the man and jealousy toward the woman. Due to your past habits, you may think you are seeing two men and women but the truth is you are attracted to the male and female birds. If so, you will be reborn as a chicks. So, at this point, you have to have a strong determination: "I will never let my heart nourish attachment and jealousy."

4. If you do not block the door to rebirth, then you must boldly view the experience you are experiencing just as illusory, like the illusion.

Such awareness will neutralize your mind's attachment to experiences as they are, and that will block the regeneration door.

5. If this does not block the regeneration door, then consider everything as a glowing uptake. Think, "The phenomena are the mind itself. Mind is empty "and then meditate in a natural state without any regulation. Let your mind dwell in its natural state, just as water pours into water, everything becomes one, not divisible.

Jigme Lingpa advised: "When sentient beings find a couple in love, they flock like flies to the dump. Any sentient karma born in the womb will have no way of avoiding it. At the time, you have to make good wishes, to seek refuge in the enlightened ones or to wish for a favorable womb. This will help you find a valuable place to be human. "

Choose the right place of regeneration

If you are determined to be born into a pure land, you have to feel fear for birth in the six realms. Do not worry about your loved ones or your possessions. Make strong aspirations and have faith in your ability to go to a pure land of your choice, such as the Pure Land of Pure Land by thinking, "I will be born periodically. From a lotus flower at the foot of the Buddha of Infinite Light in the Pureland of Pure Land. "

If you can not be born in a pure land, you may see your rebirth in one of the six realms. However, you can see the illusion of the place where you will be born, not see it as real but only see a symbolic form as follows:

 The beautiful multi-storey houses are said to be the sign of the reincarnation of the gods.
 A forest, a ring of fire or rain can be a sign of the astral plane.
 Those who are chatting or are ordinary, precious or beautiful homes are signs of precious human birth.
 Caves, huts and fog are signs of the animal kingdom.
 Dry river beds or dark dusty places are signs of the hungry ghosts.
 Red houses or dark lands, a dark hole or a dark road are signs of the hell realm.

When you see such visions, you may be anxious to take refuge in any one of these places because you will not have long shelter. You may want to hide in any of these places because you may be frightened and exhausted by the threatening scenes of the Deathly Hallows. But this is the time for you to be alert because you can not go to the signs of the lower realms. You must try to choose the human realm or the gods if you can not be born into the pure land.

You may find it difficult to recognize the true birthplace. You can see a good place of rebirth as a bad rebirth or vice versa because of the delusions of your karma. So, you need to use the following techniques.

If you have practiced meditation on an angry Buddha, such as the Vajrapani, the Power Buddha, you should immediately imagine yourself in the Buddha's body. His body is huge, majestic and majestic. Your voice is solemn and earth shakes. His heart is full of love, full of enlightenment and peace. If you imagine the Vajra Bodhisattva, you can see the disappearance of the Death Eaters - ie the horrible forms created by the minds that are piling you in the path. This will give you the opportunity to use the kind of wisdom that many sentient beings have in the medium to find the true qualities of the places of rebirth and choose the place of true rebirth for you in peace. .

You also have to support this strong intention: "I will be reborn into a family of sincere and virtuous practitioners. I will be reborn as a person capable of serving all sentient beings. "

Also, when entering the womb, worship it as a palace of the gods. See that this palace has many gods such as the Buddha of Compassion and offer prayers to them. Then, go to the womb and think that you are being taught the gods. Or, with devotion, look at the merged man and woman as your spiritual teacher.

When there are any signs of rebirth that appear before your eyes, whether it seems like a good reincarnation, it is important not to have the mind attached to that reincarnation. Even if it seems like a bad place to regenerate, do not have the mind to hate it. Go to the birthplace or the best womb possible with supreme peace and avoid feelings of rejection or acceptance.

If you are not an experienced meditator, it is difficult for you to change your usual habit of seeing a desirable reincarnation when you are in the middle of the body. However, you can try the following ways:

 Do not forget that you are in the middle of the transition period.
 Remember to walk with your head up.
 Pray by constantly repeating the name of the Buddhas.
 Take refuge in the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.
 Pray for compassionate people like the Buddha of Infinite Light and your spiritual teachers.
 Do not be attached to your loved ones and your possessions because they and your possessions will make you go your way.
Go into the path of the blue light of the human realm and the white light of the divine realm.

If you are less likely to be liberated and you hope to be born into the human realm or realm, you may be assisted by the helpers at your wishes when you are dying or after death. Helpers may repeatedly give you the instructions above. Having someone help remind you of these things will make you easy to remember them when you go to the middle. Even after you die, your consciousness may linger for a while in the Living World. Therefore, the instructions of a living helper telling you can still reach you and benefit you. We must try all the best methods possible to help us think and act effectively in the intermediate period.

In this book, we are paying special attention to reborn in a world of peace and tranquility after death. For a Buddhist, that world may be the Pure Land of the Infinite Buddha (although you can choose any pure buddhahood). Now, in Chapter 7, we will take a closer look at this Buddha and His Pureland Pure Land as a source of blessings, as objects of contemplation and devotion, and as Where we wish to be reborn. Because remembering, praying to the Buddha of Infinite Buddha and creating the blessings that help us to be reborn in his Pure Land of Pure Bliss, we have to reconsider the description of him. and his Pureland Pure Land in the historical sutras, Shakyamuni.END=NAM MO SAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=THICH CHAN TANH.VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.7/11/2018.
