The Legend of Bodhidharma.

Bodhidharma - the 28th successor of the Buddha - Chinese Zen master

Bodhidharma  is the disciple and the teachings of Bat Nha Da, the 27th Patriarchate of the Buddha, while the Datama is also the teacher of the Hue, the second Patriarch of China. After years of spiritual practice, with his great intelligence and enlightenment, Bodhidharma was chosen as his successor, becoming the 28th Patriarch of Buddhism in the land of Heaven.

1. Journey to the West on the East 

Legend has it that  Bodhidharma,  who is called Bodhidharma, is the third son of King Huong Chi, the son of Thien Truc. Although considered as the founder of the Chinese Zen school, Bodhidharma came from the background of Thien Truc. 

Prajnaparamitra, the 27th Buddhist monk, once came to Huong Chi country and met Bodhidharma, at first glance this king has many special features, the new Bat Dai Đa Da  Ma  with his two brothers. Bodhidharma replied, "Inferior formlessness" Brajabala again asked, "In everything, what is the greatest?" Bodhidharma replied: "The greatest Buddha Dharma", finished listening, Bat Nha decided to choose Datama transmission 28th person of the Buddha.

When Bat Nha Da passed away, Dat Ma remembered the teacher's instructions, to export the new transmission so the great career should be when the new high into the boat offshore to East Turkey. That was about 520 years AD, the Li imperial. Emperor is famous as a devotee, built as many Buddhist temples for the Buddha, as soon as heard the news from the Great Master to the Eastern missionary territory, the Emperor invited to the capital of Luong Ant Karma to meet and discuss the Dharma. Dat Ma received an invitation and came to see the Emperor.

2. MEET WITH SALES

The meeting between  Bodhi-ma-ma  and Emperor are recorded as follows:

Emperor asked the Indian monk: "From the throne to the present, build pagodas, copy business, the increase does not know how much, so there is no merit? 

Dat Ma  replied, "There is no merit." 

- "Why not merit?" 

"Because the things that you do are human, there are only small fruits in the universe, like custom ones, but not real ones." 

- "What is the true virtue?" 

"The mind must be completely calm, so it is merit, and this virtue can not take the worldly affairs (such as building temples, copying business, increase) OK." 

The king asked again, "What is the supreme meaning of the divine?" 

- "Once the province is clear, there is nothing holy." 

- "Who is facing me?" 

- "I do not know." 

That is the statement about the essence of Buddhism is very clear, but the Emperor did not comprehend.

Luo De Wai sent off the guest. The Bodhisattva Crosses the Jiangbe River, straight through the Wei River, up Tung Son Mountain.

Legend has it that, after the departure of  Bodhidharma  , the Emperor Wu met the monk Chi Cong, told the story. Venerable Chi Cong asked:

- Now you know who that person is?

The Emperor replied: 
- Do not know.

The Venerable said: 
- It is the Quan Yin to transmit the Buddha.

The deity regrets, sent messengers, but the Bodhisatta did not return. After recalling the old story, Luong Vo De compiled the epitaph as follows:

Oh my! 
Seeing as not 
met Meet as not meet 
face as face does not face 
Ever nowhere 
resentment. .

Why is it that King Ding Deng so hate?

That is because the king can not distinguish between the virtue of good deeds because the good works will be blessed in the cause of relative karma and meritless virtue due to spiritual ability to overcome the river of life. This misunderstanding that the king attaches importance to the issue of giving alms blessed, as such is enough on the path of spiritual practice, without regard to the problem of development.

As for Bodhidharma, he was an accomplished Zen master who taught the essence of the Buddha. He teaches enlightened people to become Buddhas. So Luong Vu De did not understand him.

Through that talk, Dat Ma knew that the Buddhist ideal of the Emperor is not like his, it is difficult to develop his thoughts, so decided to report from. It is said that, after leaving the Emperor, Dat took a drop of grass to the river and stood on the grass but across the Yangtze River, going north, to the city of Luoyang, the Northern Wei. In the third year of Hieu Minh Dynasty, the Northern Wei (527 AD), Dat Ma to Tung Son to Shaolin self propagation Zen. This is the time of the 9th anniversary of Bodhidharma's famous meditation.

It is said that, when coming to Shaolin Temple, Bodhidharma sat facing the cliffs practicing meditation, for 9 years did not say anything. The people at that time did not understand anything, only to find strange to call him " Brahmin Brahmin ", that is, Brahmin monks look at the wall. During that time, there was a monk in Tung Son named Than Quang, learned a lot, heard the story of Dat Ma should come to ask the audience. Dat Ma still faces the wall, not saying anything. Shen Quan was not discouraged, said: "The ancient paths, must go through difficult trials, bear what ordinary people do not tolerate. In the middle of December, the snow was so dark, the Spirit stood motionless outside the pagoda, shining with snow to his knees.

Dat Ma then asked: "You stand in the snow waiting for what?" Shen Quang crying said: "Just wish the great missionary." Knowing that his only time he was excited, afraid to not be patient study, Shen Quang pulled the knife cut his left arm, put in front of Dat Ma, expressed his determination. At the time,  the  new Dang Quang received the disciple, the legal name is Huey. Hui-ka later became the second founder of Zen Buddhism in China.

After 9 years of missionary stay in China, Dat had a desire to return to India and called his disciples to say, "Now I am going to come, so each disciple should tell me the good news. I ". The disciples in turn each move forward saying what they learned, only Hui is standing still do not say anything. Da Ma  smiled and said to Hui Kha, "You have had my marrow already."

After finishing the book, the  Dalai Lama  decides to transmit the mind and the scroll to Hui Kha, saying: "I came from South India to the East and found that Shenzhou had meteoric meteorology, people. Now you have to give yoga, I thought it was! " In the third year of the Nguyen dynasty, in the year of 536, Dat Ma passed away in Lac Tan. His disciples buried him at Dinh Lam Temple, Hung Nhi Mountain, now in Shandong Province, China.

3. DEATH OF THE THAI ARCHITECTURE

After the mission in China,  Dat  went back to Thien Truc and died here. The death of Bodhidharma is still controversial. Some say that the  Dalai Lama  passed away in China in 536 and was buried there. However, the more controversial it is that the story of the poisoned Datama died.

It is said that when the Datama arrived in China, there was a nunnery teacher named Bodhi Liu Chi who was jealous of his reputation for harm. Liu Chi sent the poison to the rice of the Dalai Lama, determined to kill him. Dat Ma in the rice is poisonous but still eat. However, after eating, from the mouth of Venema vomited a snake, so that all the poison is dissolved, Datama peace of mind. Liu Chi many times tried to poison the Datama,  Dat Ma  still know, but every time unharmed. Liu Chi is frightened, but the more the minds of the devil.

By choosing Hui-ka as his heir, he thought that his work in East Turk was satisfactory so the Dalai Lama decided not to save himself. It was the seventh time, Liu Chi sent poison to the rice of the Ma. Dat Ma still eat rice as usual, but this time no snake is vomited, Dat Ma sitting on such a natural death. After the death, the new disciples to the body into a wooden coffin, burial in Dinh Lam pagoda.

Dat's death story has not stopped there. History also records that, three years after the date of  Dat Ma died , an official Wei named Tong Van Envoys Western Region when the last flame of dominance met a monk holding a shoe're flying westward . Tong Van know that is Dat Ma, from Thien Truc to East Turkey transmission law, to stop the question: "Master, his law has passed to anyone?"

Dat Ma said  : "Later you will know, now we have to go to Heaven!" Finished,  Dafa removed the shoe is holding on his hand to Tong Yun, said: "You take this shoe soon return, your home is hard to pass today." Quite ignorant, Tong Yun from Dat Dat and then hurried back to the city, indeed the Emperor Trinh has ice.

Tong Van saw that the story of the  Dalai Lama  was very accurate, so the Dalai predicted the death of Minh De to the new king, Hieu Trang. The king did not believe, ordered the incarceration of Tong Yun into the dungeon. Some time later, when he was less angry, King Hieu Trang called for Tong to come and ask the industry. Tong Yun at this point to meet with Dat Ma told the king. King ordered the dome to open up the grave to testify. When the coffin was opened, there was nothing in the coffin, except for a thick old one. Officers were ordered to search the coffin to see so amazing, bringing everything back to the king. The king heard that, and believed what Tong Yun said was the truth, then ordered the shoe of the Dalai to Shaolin Temple to worship there.
