Legend has it that when Shakyamuni Buddha (then Prince Siddhartha) was born, King Sri Soudhothana held a ceremony to name the Prince and invite the monks to attend. Among them was a young Brahmin named Kiều Trần Như. He felt shock before the non-phàm superficial appearance of the sub-prince should have asserted that the Prince will eventually reach the position of awareness.
Later on, when heard Prince Siddhartha leave the palace and go to the forest to leave the monk, Kieu Tran As led four other close associates to find the Prince. They met and became fellow practitioners.

The five monks saw the Buddha's silhouette from afar, and they negotiated with one another: "He gave up suffering and became greedy. When he arrives, we will not talk to him, nor do we show respect or applaud him nor accept his bowl and robes.
We only have a cushion here to prepare, if he wants to sit then sit, not sit to let him stand, no one is welcome who has lost his will to practice like him! "
But when the Buddha approached, there was a compassionate and harmonious energy that affected all five monks. They can not suppress the joy in the heart, unconscious forget all the discussion.
Someone hurriedly ran the ceremony, reverently received the robes and bowls from the Buddha, someone quickly ran to cover the buffer, someone rushed to collect water to invite the Buddha ...
The Buddha then taught the Dharma to them and all five of them became the first disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha, including: Kiều Trần Như, Tản, Md. Ba, Ma Ha Nam, and A theory.
