The meaning of prayer.
In Buddhism, the word "prayer," "pray" or "desire" to be understood as synonymous with the term "prarthana " (Sanskrit) or " Patthàna " (Pali). Prarthana derived from the root " pra + Arth " means wish, desire, seek, beg.

According to Buddhist teachings, there are many reasons leading to the wishes or prayers inferior and sublime. In the texts of the seeds of the Anguttara Center (AV 213) Buddha put ten root causes leading to the wishes and prayers inferior. Ten reasons are: (1) misconceptions, (2) erroneous thinking, (3) the words wrong, (4) the wrong behavior, (5) the illegal settlers, (6) efforts human mistakes, (7) focused mistake, (8) meditation wrong, (9) the knowledge mistake, (10) freedom mistakes. This essence ten causes profound derived from misconception. The main "point" is the brain's perception and action. Once the action misperception becomes harmful to morals and welfare of others. Also in the above texts, the Buddha presented 10 causes of desires or noble prayer, that is: (1) the true concept, (2) thinking rightly, (3) the words rightly, ( 4) acts of righteousness, (5) establish a true industry, (6) the true efforts, (7) the true focus, (8) the true meditation, (9) the true knowledge, (10) true freedom.
True conception is considered the leading factor of the remaining nine righteous. According to Buddhist teachings, the true opinion is the view of people and things in the light of the principle of interdependence and interdependence, no one causes the beginning, all things are born. In Buddhism, prayer or desire, whether noble morals and values are also very limited in the scope of the will, but not specifically expressed in action. Buddhism doctrines thus promoting ethical behavior intentional ( cetana ) as the foundation of success and satisfaction in life. Here, we see that all moral action is the motto of a life of happiness and peacefulness of Buddhism.
Buddhist scriptures also specifies that a life of peace, happiness and freedom are not the consequence of noble desires that are the result of the effort to cultivate morality, meditation and wisdom:
"A person who is not interested in the practice, although there arises a desire to be liberated from the cankers, no longer clinging, certain desires are not fulfilled".
In other words the desire or noble prayer contrary to the principle of causality is only a retributive languishing waiting, useless and unnecessary, and sometimes also bring frustration and disappointment:
