The Buddha spoke the Ullambana Sutra. I have heard the following words: Once upon a time, the World-Honored One was residing in Sravasti, in the Jetavana Garden. Maudgalyayana had just attained the six supernatural powers, wishing to save his parents from the cycle of birth and death. He devoted himself to repaying the deep kindness of his upbringing, and wished to repay the great kindness of his birth and death. As a filial son, he used his wisdom eyes to search above and below. He saw his deceased mother reborn as a hungry ghost, with no food or drink, her body emaciated. Maudgalyayana felt sorrowful when he saw this, knowing that his mother was hungry and thirsty, he felt a deep affection for her. 2. He worried about the offerings he brought to his mother, to ease her suffering for so long. Seeing the food, his mother was very worried, covering it with her left hand, while helping her to eat. His stinginess had not yet ended, and he was afraid that ghosts would rob her. The food had not yet reached her mouth, but had turned into burning coals, and he could not swallow it. Seeing this, Maudgalyayana was filled with sorrow and pity. He quickly returned to the lecture hall and told his teacher to find a way to resolve the problem. 3. The Buddha then clearly explained the root cause, That his mother's sin was very deep. Even though he had miraculous supernatural powers, No one alone could help her. Even though his filial piety was great, The sound of his reputation reached the nine heavens, Even the supernatural beings, demons, heretics, the four Heavenly Kings, and the three realms and six directions who practiced, Still had no way to save his mother. If one wanted to save her life, One must rely on the supernatural powers of the monks of the ten directions. 4. I intend to explain the Dharma of salvation, so that everyone can escape from suffering. I then call Mu Thi to come near, and transmit the wonderful and necessary Dharma. The fifteenth day of the seventh month is the day of the Four Noble Truths. All monks from all directions attend this ceremony. We must prepare everything without delay. We must prepare a hundred kinds of food, fruits of five colors. We must also prepare beds, mattresses, basins, lamps, incense, and oil. The pure and precious food is contained in a bowl and respectfully offered to the Great Monks of the ten directions who will receive it. In seven lifetimes, they will be able to transcend to heaven. In addition, our parents are present, so that thanks to their blessings, they can eliminate suffering. 5. Because on that day, all the Holy Sangha are present, no matter where they are, they will gather. Like the person who meditates in the mountains and streams, Avoids all worries and focuses on meditation, Or the person who attains the four stages of enlightenment, Practices diligently and vows to fulfill the non-birth, Or the person who practices meditation in the summer, Does not desire power and nobility, and hides his name and reputation, Or the person who attains the six supernatural powers, And the Pratyekabuddhas, Sravakas, Or the Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, Manifests as monks and lives near living beings, All keep the precepts very pure, very clean, With great virtue, right concentration, and true mind, All the Saints and ordinary people, With one heart accept the bowl of rice of the six harmonies. 6. Whoever has prepared food To make offerings to the Four Sangha, then the person's present parents and relatives, All thanks to the grace of the Three Realms of Suffering, Will surely escape from the state of leisure and enjoy a natural life. As if one still has parents in the present life, One will also attain a long life, As if one has parents from seven generations past, One will be reborn in the heavenly realm. One will be handsome and handsome, With a halo of light illuminating the entire body. 7. The Buddha taught the Sangha of the ten directions to follow the following formula: Before receiving vegetarian food, One must pray for the faithful. Pray to the deceased parents, Concentrate the mind and mind, and do not forget. After completing the intention to practice meditation, Only then use the offerings of offerings. When receiving food, one should place it in front of the Buddha altar or in the middle of the stupa:The monks prayed for forgiveness. After that, they freely accepted and ate lunch. 8. The Buddha had just finished speaking the Dharma of salvation. Maudgalyayana and the Bodhisattvas and monks all expressed their joy together. Maudgalyayana also stopped crying and feeling sad. Maudgalyayana's mother also on that day had her suffering in the realm of hungry ghosts ended. Maudgalyayana told the Buddha: "Thanks to the power of the Holy Sangha, my mother was saved from her suffering. Also thanks to the divine power of the Three Jewels. Otherwise, it would be difficult to escape from suffering. Like this, I, the disciple who left home to practice the Ullambana Dharma, use it to save living beings. Can I save my parents who are still alive? Or can I achieve it for seven generations?" Buddha said: "The question is very wise. I just wanted to say, you should ask according to it. 9. Good men, good men and women, together with kings, crown princes, great ministers, the three dukes, prime ministers, and mandarins, together with the common people of the world, all wish to repay their parents' kindness. Now, together with the seven generations, they have deep affection. On the fifteenth day of the seventh month every year, after the end of the rainy season, the monks gather. On that day, the Buddha is joyful. They must prepare hundreds of dishes of rice and soup. Put them in a pure bowl. Wait for the time. The four groups of monks make offerings to each other. Pray for a long life. No illness, no suffering. Together, pray for the seven generations to be the same. Leave the realm of hungry ghosts and be born as humans and devas. Enjoy the blessings of happy and beautiful causes and conditions. Again, be far away from the suffering of the body. The devoted Buddhist disciples should practice filial piety diligently. 10. Always pray and talk calmly. An-hao Together with seven generations of parents, rebirth On the fifteenth day of the seventh month every year Because of deep filial piety, I must repay The sacrificial ceremony is sincerely arranged To offer to the Buddhas and Sangha That is to repay the kindness of the parents who were born and raised in the beginning A Buddhist disciple worries and protects Only then must he be a disciple of the Zen sect of the Sakyas As soon as he heard the end of the Dharma of the Lan-bon Sect, The four groups of disciples all rejoiced together Maudgalyayana and the four groups of Buddhist disciples Vow to wholeheartedly believe and follow!
